Dear Marlene,
Do you remember what you were doing in 2016? The town you lived in, the friends you made, the birthday you celebrated?
Rocker remembers. This was the year he was rescued from the streets and brought to the Soi Dog shelter.
Rocker was three at the time. Life on the streets had not been kind to him, and he needed treatment for a fractured leg, a deep wound on his neck and a severe skin condition. Thanks to your support, he made a full recovery.
More than 2,000 days – or six years – have since passed. Your life has likely changed in all sorts of ways in that time, but his hasn't. He's nine years old now and still at the shelter, longing for a family.
Today, I am writing to you with hope in my heart and asking: will you be the one to finally welcome Rocker home?
Because of the weight of your support, the CDC import ban – which has prevented us from adopting Stateside for almost a year – has now been revised. This means we are able to transport dogs from Thailand to the USA again, and it means Rocker could be home with you in a matter of weeks.

When Rocker arrived all those years ago, no one thought he'd stay for long. Affectionate, playful, loyal and fun, he's everything you could ask for in a dog, we said. He'll be adopted in no time, we said.
Six years later, we now find ourselves saying: what more does this boy possibly have to do to find a home?
We do our very best to make Rocker's days at Soi Dog as enriching as possible, but the truth is that a shelter is no substitute for a comfortable, loving home. It just doesn't compare.
My heart breaks at the thought of a senior boy like him, who has only known life on the streets and life in a shelter, living out the rest of his days here. But that's exactly how things will play out for Rocker unless someone gives him a chance. Could that someone be you?

Rocker needs a home without young children and without other pets. Don't be disheartened if that means he doesn't fit your lifestyle though, because there may well be another dog in our care who does.

P.S. There are certain countries whose quarantine requirements mean we cannot send animals there, including Australia and New Zealand. However, our dogs can travel to the USA, Canada, the UK and Europe and within Thailand.
