gwainey
the moment your eyes meet the stars in the sky // awakens the dreamer that's lost inside
cute
gwaine’s devotion to merlin is not loud. there’s no grand declaration that you are my other half.
gwaine chooses merlin.
not once. not in a moment of dramatic revelation. but over and over and over again.
he chooses him in the easy moments, when merlin is just some scrawny servant with a sharp tongue and nothing to offer but a drink and a laugh. he chooses him in the harder moments too—when merlin is caught in things he doesn’t explain, when he disappears and reappears with that same evasive look, when there’s clearly something wrong and no one else bothers to ask. gwaine notices. gwaine always notices.
and more importantly, he doesn’t press.
that’s the thing about gwaine: his loyalty is never conditional on understanding. he doesn’t need the full story to stand beside someone. merlin is strange, secretive, occasionally infuriating—and gwaine shrugs like that’s just part of the package. like of course you’re odd. i like you anyway.
there’s a kind of reverence in that.
because what is devotion, really, if not the act of saying i don’t need you to make sense to me to matter?
gwaine trusts merlin in a way that feels almost reckless. he’ll back his play in a tavern brawl, in a dungeon, on a battlefield. no questions, no hesitation. if merlin says “come with me,” gwaine’s already halfway there. not because he’s foolish, but because somewhere along the line he decided merlin was worth the risk.
and gwaine is not a man who gives that lightly.
he knows better than to hand his loyalty over without a fight. but with merlin, it’s almost effortless. like he took one look at him and thought, oh. there you are.
and maybe that’s the most devastating part of it.
because merlin—who is carrying the weight of magic and destiny and a future he can’t explain to anyone—gets this one person who doesn’t ask him to justify himself. who doesn’t need him to be anything other than what he already is.
gwaine doesn’t see a servant.
he doesn’t see a mystery to be solved.
he sees merlin, and he stays.
and in a world where love is so often tangled up in obligation—where arthur’s bond with merlin is written in prophecy and inevitability—gwaine’s devotion feels almost radical in its simplicity.
he could leave.
he never does.
Gwaine and Flynn Rider are the same person. I stand by that.
It's an old Work, but I think it's good to start with the first post here. In the future, I want to do more and do it normally. With feeling, with sense, with alignment
I love Gwaine 🥰

I just want to go on record and say that gwainevere hug in 3’13 is sooo important to me. The reunion hug that came after days of not knowing whether Gwen had escaped the citadel, and right before another surprise attack. I’m willing to read into it and say that Gwen and Gwaine are blissfully aware of their chemistry and are very content to keep it that way.
Gwen gives Arthur the lovingly bracing hug of an established relationship, nose-in-hair and nails scraping over his breastplate etc etc. Then she walks over to Merlin and, guessing by the way they shuffle in the background, he gets the firm handshake of a confidant-in-arms. Maybe even a fistbump. And then all of a sudden we hear Elyan’s voice cresting over the hill, shouting in alarm about the incoming enemy, but the camera pans over kiss-cam style to see a Gwen and Gwaine very closely entwined in the background. Her hands slung comfortably around his neck and a big grin on his face.
I don’t doubt Gwaine is overdoing it a little, just to piss off an Arthur who can’t do anything about it, but I also don’t think they’re overselling that intimacy, not even a little bit. From that kiss on the cheek she gave him as farewell weeks ago and all the easy banter they shared, I fear they must be the nearest definition of bosom friends who’re choosing not to set off the Hottest Coupling Ever. Two of the most charismatic and charming individuals in the greater Camelot area with chemistry like dry wood loves to spark, and yet they will not be acting on it whatsoever. Due to a predetermined clause between them, and because their hearts are engaged with other people; but that only makes (and it really goes without saying) the concept of them even hotter.
Everyone knows it, and Arthur and co. are always painfully aware of it, yet gwainevere will continue to entwine arms around each other perfectly platonically, if a touch too sweet, because their love transcends the tenuity of any LI bombshell pairing.
this moment means everything to me 😭
Okay, so I’ve read a few comments on a gif set I put together of Gwaine/Gwen in the modern day, and wishing there was a fanfic out there about it so I decided to post the fanfic I had started writing about that idea… so without further ado…

To Build a Home…
Synopsis:
Gwaine doesn’t remember the events of his past life till the day he meets Gwen again, then odd pictures, memories maybe, start flooding back. But only for him, since Gwen has memory loss from a hit and run accident that’s messed up her long term memory, with minor damage to her short term memory as well.
A modern Gwainevere Au where Gwen is brought into the ER, after an accident leaves her with severe memory loss, though she recognizes her doctor from somewhere in her distant past. While recovering, images start to seep back to her, images from a different time, she’s certain from a different world, and she’s certain that the person from her past has something to do with it, she just has to figure out how. Add in an immortal wizard and the once and future king, running on angst and coffee, and the plot thickens, like one of Merlin’s soups.
gwaine & gwen. we’ll call them gwaine, wait no, gwen, wait no
I'm rewatching BBC Merlin.
I'm a sucker for Gwaine.
(And Merthur obv)
Gwaine my favorite
crazy that they really made a photoset of Gwen/Gwaine that is twice as more romantic and sensual than both Arwen and Gwencelot(!)
