I’m happy she’s now doing things her own way. Since the scarf was given to her by Eren so if she had worn it, she would still think herself as a slave. I'l glad she left it behind. Her next move will depend on what Eren will tell them but this is good. I’m happy for her even though she looked extremely sad but leaving the scarf behind was a best move on her part.

I’m sad for EMA but Mikass needed this development.

Finally, she’s questioning it. I’m glad she didn’t just rushed to help Eren but rather questioning his comments and thinking wether he was right or not. Armin being shocked in Mikasa stating that was becase he always thought Mikasa knows Eren best but that’s not the case this time.

I actually love this part. Isayama giving Mikasa a free will here and I think the Bond is broken. Look how she didn’t jump to help Eren 👏👌. But that’s just my opinion about the bond. Anyways, great chapter again.

I have some thoughts on 115

Quick note: ofc this will be about Levi’s “death” (full chapter isnt out yet so we’ll still talk hypothetically here) and is going to be a complete brain dump so dont expect any serious meta here

Now you may think i have this opinion simply because i’m a mourning Levi Fangirl™️ (which i lowkey wont deny any bias tbf). But i find this death so increadibly cheap and underwhelming. I’ve been reading this manga for 6 years, i’ve come to terms w the fact he was very likely going to die because that was probably the best way to bring his character full circle. But did this death bring his character full circle? Did it fuck.

I cant see any real reasoning for this death other than to be sad for the sake of being sad. Now of course you can argue “oh Molly, thats just reality” “oh Molly, nobody is safe” but remember this is a work of fiction, every death is the choice of the author for a reason. All the deaths of major characters in the past have had some meaning for the other characters or brought that character full circle in some way. Take Erwin for example, his death symbolising him finally fully dedicating his heart to humanity and dying for it along side his comrades. But for Levi to die this way? What does it do for anyone? It certainly doesnt do anything for Levi’s character. The only thing i can see it doing is shocking Eren into bucking up his ideas but even that is a stretch and would be p poor.

How on earth could Levi be killed off by this p silly mistake when he’s been analysing Zeke for extended periods of time, outsmarted him on multiple occaisions, and w Zeke constantly underestimating him. Its fairly obvious that Zeke would do something drastic in the name of his objective, it’s not the first time he’s done that. Levi is a smart man, he’s no Armin or Hanji by any means, but he’s still very smart in his own right and theres no way he would miss this big aspect of Zeke’s character after being around him non-stop for at least a month.

I guess what i’m trying to get at is that for Levi to die this way would have no real meaning. Levi is a complex character and so much has gone into his character arc, only for him to have a quick blowout death thats does nothing for said character arc. And thats underwhelming, especially when compared w Zeke’s “paths” plot armour shit.

Levi’s Injuries

Levi has a masive gash down his face down the right side of his face from the upper right eyebrow to his chin. Due to the depth and position of the gash, if he lives he’d most likely be blind out of his right eye. He also has BLADES embedded into his face on the left side. 

Is He Dead?

The official English translation is not out yet, but people seem to be saying that Hange tells the Jaegerist that Levi is dead.This could be potentially be mistranslated as her saying that he’s dying not dead, or others are speculating that she might be saying this so the jaegerists won’t kill him.

Either way, since we’re reading right to left, it looks like Levi opens his eyes to look at Hange when she kneels down beside him. So, there’s at least reason to believe that he’s not dead when she finds him. However, his eyes also look like they could be closed and covered in blood splatter, so it’s up for debate on whether he’s looking at her or not. Take into consideration that there’s also a speech bubble in the frame so Levi might be saying something to Hange if she’s not the one talking. Because of it’s position near Levi, it’s likely that he’s talking to her.
