I took inspiration from Caravaggio’s “Christ at the Column” to create the photo on the bottom. The original painting was meant to depict the flagellation of Christ following his arrest and trial and before his crucifixion.

This weeks assignment was to photograph cosmetic makeup. My mua Jalanis always kills it with the fine details I really love those gold specks in the red lipstick look. Also shout out to Nataly for retouching check out her website she does some really awesome photominipulations.

Photoshop Tip- Textures

Using Textures on top of your photographs can completely change the vibe of your image in just a few steps. First place your texture over your image and desaturate it if you do not want to affect the color of the image you are applying it to. Then we change the blending mode; at this point some experimentation is needed to get the desired effect. The blending modes I see myself using most frequently are soft light and overlay however depending on the content of both your photo and texture as well as how you want your texture to appear you may use something else. In the above picture I used the multiply blending mode. Some other things to keep in mind are tweaking opacity to make the texture less visible or increasing contrast to make it more apparent. Lastly if you are happy with the results but want it to only appear in certain areas, using a layer mask you can have the control of doing so.
