Crazy...
This week: Crazy weather. Crazy issues. Crazy scheduling. Crazy employees. Crazy pax. Crazy trip I am so glad it's over. I am thoroughly enjoying my days off. :-) *sips cocktail*
Laptop is more important than...
During boarding, I go to brief the exit row to brief the pax. 8A is on her laptop typing. I ask for everyone's attention and she is still typing.
Me: *staring at 8A* 8A: I am willing and able. This is the exit row. I got it. Me: I ignore her and start my exit briefing. Then I tell her that the laptop has to be turned off and stowed. 8A: Yes sir!
Girl bye. You ain't cute.
Can I keep it?
During final descent, I am collecting rubbish and service items. I walk up to 13C holding the trash bag open:
13C: Oh, I don't have anything. I am just going to keep the cup. Me: You cannot keep it. I have to take it. 13C: *surprised* Really? Me: Yes. Anything (service items) they give you on a plane during service, we have to take it. It is a law. 13C: *puzzled* Oh *throws cup away*.
What is it about people and keeping stuff from a plane? Give me a break.
Things pilots say...
I was talking to my captain about people being late and he was telling me about an FA he flew with that was always late for the van to the airport. He says, "The scheduled van time doesn't mean, that's when you show up. It means cheeks in the seats! We are ready to go!"
Needless to say, I nearly fell over with laughter! Oh I get to fly with him all month! Yay!
Why I Fly #1
I love it!
This is a VERY cool job.
I love the attention I get in my uniform.
I like interacting with the passengers
The pilots at my airline are really nice and funny.
I meet lots of interesting people.
I don’t have a micromanager looking over my shoulder.
I travel 100%
The benefits are wonderful.
Crazy, weird, uncanny, wonderful things happen to me at work.
I have wonderful stories to tell.
I have proof of my many adventures
I meet other flight attendants that have the best stories.
I don’t have to sit at a desk for 8 hours a day.
I still get to do what I want!
I get LOTS of compliments and praises!
My job makes me very happy! :-)
Buddy Passes #2
So...near the beginning of the year, someone I don't know decides to message me on Facebook about buddy passes.
Person:Â Hello I was wondering if you had any leads for available benefits. My friend put in her 2 week notice at virgin so I'm about to be a regular traveler. And I'm having anxiety about ever paying full price again.
Me:Â Hello. I don't know who you are or who told you to message me regarding this. I will tell you this: in case you didn't know, what you are asking me is EXTREMELY in appropriate. You don't ask someone for the use of their flying benefits, nor do you ask someone else for a referral for someone else for the use of their benefits. Would you like it if someone you didn't know ask you for a referral for the use of the benefits of someone else's job. Would you do that to someone else? It may not seem serious to you but this is serious business.
In addition to being inappropriate, it is very selfish, rude and offensive. It is something that you just do NOT do. If your friend allowed you to use her benefits, that is something SHE did as a courtesy to YOU. Flying benefits are a PRIVILEGE and are not to be taken lightly by anyone.
So, for your benefit, please don't do this again. I can guarantee you that actions like this will get your name around to flight attendants very quickly and not in a good light. If you are having anxiety about paying full price for a ticket; then I suggest you get savvy and catch the sales on tickets when they occur, buy your tickets off season/very early or don't buy one at all. Have a nice day.
People are doing way too much with these buddy passes questions! WTH? I mean what is really wrong with people these days? Good grief!
Buddy Passes #1
I am on a commuting flight to work and a passenger sitting in front of me asks:
Pax: You work for (airline)
Me: “Yes.”
Pax: You have buddy pass? You want to sell me..?
Me: *blank stare* No. I'd like to keep my job.
For real? Now, I know that there are plenty of people in this world that have no conscience or scruples but goodness! I am sure there are people who do it and get away with it. I am not having it.  My own friends and family don’t ask me for buddy passes. Everyone who is a flight attendant has tons of stories about people/friends/family/acquaintances, etc., asking for flight benefits. This one takes the cake.  Who does that? Just asking random people for their buddy passes for sale? But you know what? I am sure he has done that before and was able to get them. Sorry buddy, you barked up the wrong tree here.
