Ingemar Härdelin is a Swedish artist, cellist, and lifelong cultural practitioner whose work bridges the worlds of sound and image. While his professional career was spent as a teacher, cultural expression has always been the parallel current running through his life. From early childhood, the cello held his deepest attention; later came a sustained fascination with visual art — painting and photography — that has grown into a significant body of work.

Since 1992 Härdelin has painted continuously. Over more than three decades he has presented his work in more than thirty exhibitions across Sweden, with additional shows in Tenerife and Milan. The paintings, he insists, ultimately speak for themselves and live their own lives beyond words. Yet he offers a clarifying frame: most of his production can be gathered under the single term motion.

That concept arises directly from his parallel life as a performing cellist. Music, for Härdelin, is movement, and movement is an expression of life. He experiences painting in the same way. Color carries life, music, and rhythm. Within colors and forms we recognize the familiar, yet infinite possibilities remain for new discoveries and sensations. A painting, like a piece of music heard repeatedly, never yields exactly the same experience twice. It can affect, seduce, unsettle, or invite the viewer on a voyage of discovery conducted in constant dialogue with what is seen.

Härdelin works primarily from inner visions. Freedom, imagination, rhythm, form, and balance serve as guiding principles — the same criteria that shape musical performance. Because new possibilities continually open during the act of painting, the final result is often unpredictable. A work may shift direction mid-process and travel into unexpected territory, carrying both artist and viewer along with it.

In Härdelin’s art, the disciplined physicality of the cello and the free play of color and form become two sides of the same creative impulse. Motion is not merely a subject; it is the living condition of the work itself.

 Slovak artist has built a distinctive body of work rooted in the landscapes of his homeland while occasionally reaching audiences beyond its borders. Pastel to jedna z najpiękniejszych i najbardziej wyrazistych technik malarskich. Pozwala osiągnąć zarówno delikatność akwareli, jak i bogactwo koloru farby olejnej. Jednak nie każdy pastel jest taki sam. Dziś przyjrzymy się dwóm najważniejszym rodzajom: pastelowi suchym i pastelowi olejnemu

Pastel suchy – pyłek i aksamitna miękkość

Pastel suchy (soft pastel) to właściwie sprasowany pigment z minimalną ilością spoiwa. Jest niezwykle miękki, kredowy i daje efekt pudrowy.

Zalety pasteli suchych:

Intensywność i czystość koloru – pigment jest niemal w 100% widoczny

Niezwykła miękkość i możliwość blendowania (rozcierania)

Idealny do budowania delikatnych przejść i atmosferycznych efektów

Świetnie nadaje się do portretów, aktów, pejzaży i martwej natury

Wady:

Bardzo kruchy i łatwy do rozmazywania

Wymaga fiksacji (utrwalacza), aby nie osypywał się z papieru

Mniejsza trwałość archiwalna w porównaniu z innymi technikami

Pastel olejny – kremowa konsystencja i nasycona barwa

Pastel olejny zawiera w swoim składzie olej i wosk, dzięki czemu ma konsystencję zbliżoną do kredki lub miękkiej farby

Sucha pastela (miękka pastela) to miękkie, pylące się sztyfty z dużą ilością czystego pigmentu i minimalną ilością spoiwa. Łatwo się rozciera palcami lub gąbką, daje intensywne, aksamitne kolory i miękkie przejścia, ale brudzi i wymaga utrwalacza.

Kredki pastelowe są twardsze, zawierają więcej spoiwa, mniej się pylą i pozwalają na precyzyjniejsze linie oraz detale. Często mają formę ołówków lub twardszych sztyftów – lepiej sprawdzają się przy rysowaniu konturów i drobnych elementach.

Podsumowując: sucha pastela = malarskość i miękkość, kredki pastelowe = kontrola i precyzja.

Moje doświadczenie w stosowaniu obu technik

Obie techniki uwielbiam i stosuję w zależności od efektu, jaki chcę osiągnąć. Pastel suchy wybieram, gdy potrzebuję maksymalnej delikatności i romantyzmu (szczególnie w portretach dziecięcych i kobiecych). Pastel olejny z kolei fantastycznie sprawdza się w pracach, gdzie zależy mi na bogatej fakturze i głębi koloru.
