if there's a family with their fingers in every historical pie of constance county, it's the mcintyre's. they claim that their great great great great great grandfather was one of the original founders of the town, a humble farmer that had come to find new beginnings. from there, they grew - proving to be a tight knit family with classic ideals of family and the right way to be.
to put it simply, the mcintyre's are loaded, thanks to the amount of property and land they own or used to own in constance county. and for the past ten years, they have had a family matriarch to look towards (or for some, to avoid the watchful eye of). julie mcintyre has taken her position as head of the family quite seriously - her expectations for her children have always been quite high and at times, unreasonable.
julie has never liked change and in a day and age where adapting is crucial, she's proven to be quite stubborn - especially when it comes to family values. she doesn't understand when one of her grandchildren are unable to make her fortnightly sunday lunch and she doesn't get why her youngest would embarrass the family by divorcing from her beau. to say that julie has some strained relationships with her children would be a vast understatement.
so below is the current mcintyre family aka the families of each of julie's children. i've written some very vague descriptions for them all to guide you. i imagine that in each family, there's quite a few people who didn't grow up in town etc. at the crux of it, they're all incredibly close - except for steph and her kid but they're probably quite welcoming. there's a lot of internal drama but at the end of it, they'll stand by one another always.
but if there’s anyone that draws julie’s ire the most, it’s those darned conway’s whom she has been feuding with for decades. every constance county fair, there’s always a huge blow up in the cookery competition over who was awarded first place, julie does regular drive-by’s past the conway’s to make sure that her front garden looks the best, it’s a whole lotta petty stuff. but also mildly entertaining at the same time - especially when you have leighton doing the forbidden thing and start dating a conway. you should consider making a conway!!!
BENJAMIN MCINTYRE X THERESA MCINTYRE (NEE FITZGERALD)
stayed in town but ben has always been julie's most disappointing child. never took to studying or to 'aiming higher'. theresa is his childhood love and they spent much of their life traveling - until she fell pregnant with their first child. as parents, they are relaxed and never imposed themselves on them.

the studious branch of the family - matt took after those before him in the family to become a professor at the local college (heck, it's named after them). probably julie's favourite. quite a strict household, a tad conservative and a lot of high expectations for their kids but also constructive in their parenting approach.

veronica has always wanted to be her mother's favourite but alas, will never be. liam is a surgeon at the local hospital and she's a trophy wife. very VERY involved in the going ons in town, on every committee you could think of and does her best to get everything her way. probably quite controlling over her kids. wants to be the next family head and has always made it clear that she's the brains of the operations. has always wanted to go back to using her maiden surname because she finds it to be more prestigious. please note, faces for the holland family must be half jewish!

STEPHANIE MCINTYRE (DIVORCED)
only recently moved back to constance county after quitting her high flying corporate job and also divorcing her partner. at a very stressful point in her life, especially considering that she hasn't been back home in a really long time. had lost most communications with her siblings and doing her best. was probably never home, always busy with work and her kid had to learn how to cope with that from a really young age.
