STARTER CALL, @pastfound

the door slams to a rather abrupt shut, and he can hear the footsteps of two of his officers. along with that, he hears the tumbling of them — rather roughly — pushing someone inside. he straightens his trenchcoat in a singular, brief motion ; glancing out the window of his office. he allows a new silence to linger in the room.

“ the new leningrad, ” he begins, voice booming && echoing off of the walls of the room, not bothering to face her. not yet. he was given very little information on this particular suspect ; though, he can only assume it’s another . . actress. a girl to apprehend. there’s been rumours, after all. “ beautiful, is it not ? i can see the streets, from my office . . . ” he rambles on about the city, the sights, for a moment longer than he should. his tone is far from calm, quite authoritative, almost accusatory, and his words are cunning. his question is rhetorical, clear in the way he speaks. he isn’t looking for a response. after a long pause, he turns to face the mystery woman — and his entire demeanor changes. dark eyes brighten, briefly, upon recognition. he doesn’t even bother to mask the grin that graces his features.

“ you ! ” he exclaims, “ the little . . the little street sweeper. i’d almost— ” he, remembering his disposition as a commissioner, takes a moment to regain his composure, as he clears his throat && gestures for the two previously mentioned officers to take their exit. once they’ve gone, he strides up to anastasia, extending a hand. “ anya, is it ? ”
