Redesigning the show-stopping Opera Dress… was risky. 

But I had to do it. The sweetheart neckline is the give-away to modern fashion decisions. Her sheer-train looped on her fingers was accurate though!… but this design didn’t accommodate it.

Now we have a layered lace & sparkles look that hopefully references the OG’s design idea while putting it firmly in 1920′s fashion trends. Her in-movie opera coat though is super-historically inspired/accurate & I love it.

In order to create the perfect music box, various sketches were done of actual Fabergé eggs and several period music boxes. This final design was given to the 3-D crew as a model.
