Geological horror. You find a geode and crack it open and the crystal lining its walls is human blood that can't be genetically matched to anyone. You find a human skeleton but every one of the bones is made from rock, a rock that you know can't be whittled into those shapes. You find layers of clay and loam that sport ancient fossils at the top and the still-rotting corpses of modern animals at the bottom.

This reminds me of the blood river in Antarctica. For like a century scientists had no clue why this river looked like, acted like, and felt exactly like blood. Turns out it’s just really high in iron.

there was a great study a few years that went into the whole "ppl online are bigger jerks than irl cuz theres a virtual wall and no repercussions" and the researchers were expecting to see that be the case but it turns out that people who were really angry or argumentative online were also found to just be assholes in person and people who were pretty patient and nice online were found to be patient and nice in real person as well

and it just debunked that whole cynical idea that people will naturally be mean if theres no punishment for it

This milestone emphasizes a seismic evolution from an Internet built for human clicks to a digital landscape now dominated by AI agents.” It’s no surprise, then, that anyone who relied on search engine inbound traffic is taking a hit. We are well and truly in the predicted “Google Zero” era. It’s also no surprise that these new numbers are altering the long-established calculus about whether outlets want to submit themselves to Google Search. Currently, Google’s offering is all-or-nothing: If you want to show up in search results, you’re also agreeing to let the company feed your content into the maw of its Gemini AI apparatus. And an increasing number of people and properties aren’t particularly interested in that arrangement.

I take issue with the “physically nonhuman” label becoming a sort of indicator amongst certain younger therians that they’re serious about their identity in the way it dilutes definitions and forces folks out of the communities they created by and for themselves (tale as old as time in online alterhumanity and it sucks every single time) but there’s also just the fact that younger therians are ALWAYS looking for validation, especially in the fact that they’re super serious and legitimate. I was very much like this in my own awakening initially and it ended in places i’m not always super proud of. Those who’d otherwise avoid the physical label knowing it’d be triggering and dangerous territory for them specifically are now incentivized more than ever to lean into it. Note that my criticism here isn’t that the label is getting more popular and accepted nor that folks who experience delusions are being “enabled” in whatever manner, even if that WAS an inherently bad thing. I am not of the opinion that this is manifesting somatic delusions in otherwise sound-of-mind individuals either. I actually think it’s all pretty fucking baller given the therian community’s historical relationship to both delusions and hammering about how NOT physical the experience is for both respectability’s sake and out of a misguided but well-intentioned/supported sense of community safety. It’s that there is a very specific subset of folks at risk who

1. Already experience delusions that impact their daily lives

2. Are significantly negatively impacted by this specific trigger

3. Probably wouldn’t be touching anything related to holotheres for their own safety in a slightly different climate, but ultimately the need to be legit or “not another tiktok therian” or taken seriously wins out

But god damn has this entire conversation really shown off a LOT of community members’ ableist and sanist beliefs around delusions specifically. I know we only first started accepting those with delusions as a part of the community at all like maybe 5 years ago but i really was under the impression we were a lot farther into deconstructing that than we clearly are at the moment
