gravity-lord-rises:
There was a voice. A familiar one. One that he didn’t want to hear. He turned around calmly, staring as Phantom was coming closer. The spirit looked even more raggedy than the thief had last seen him in the mine. He hated seeing this disgusting reminder of how he’d been forced to sleep for hundreds of years.
Lotus felt his heart beat painfully against his chest, suddenly. It couldn’t be fear, but what was the feeling? Anxiety, perhaps? Worry that his nemesis would try to ruin the life he was trying to make here? This one… knew the secrets he was trying to hide. But he wasn’t about to show any weakness in front of him.
Ah, yes. He expected Phantom would try to slay him again—but he knew what this island did to people, and he figured the thief was new here. What were the chances he’d run into him after the latest eclipse? He was probably as lost as the spirit had been. And that meant Lotus had power over him, even if it was only a little. He liked that.
“Well, if it isn’t Phantom.” Lotus couldn’t help but smile a little, if just to annoy him. “I realize how you must feel, but I am sorry to say I have little interest in fighting with you. Shocking, I know.” With those words, he crossed his arms.
“Trying to kill me in this city will do you no favors. Nor will you succeed. Realize this, and your time here will be much easier. By the way – Evan is here, as well. But he is the only other from our world.” Speaking to Phantom made him feel… strangely nostalgic. The spirit was speaking just as he used to, rather than the childish persona he was using to talk with every other person in the city.
…And then Lotus would have to have a chat with Ja'far and Sinbad sometime after this—unfortunately for Phantom, he’d been here long enough to obtain a few friends.
“ oh, is that so ? ” Phantom breaks out his own smile, not believing a single word that was spoken. in fact, the claims were SO ridiculous that he had no choice but to laugh. did no favors ? will not succeed ? “ — i didn’t take you for the ‘ joking ’ type, Lotus. i thought that was your sister’s knack. ” another, who deserved no mercy at his hands, but ... not his true enemy.
cautious steps move ever closer, eyes never leaving his target as if they were prey. his smile ( mocking & fake ), however, had begun to falter ; lips weighing down heavily into flat line. digits nimbly twirled the walking cane about, almost playfully, “ no matter, whether or not Evan is here or you’re willing to fight --- i’ve already made up my mind. ”
the soles of his boots glow for a split-second and away he disappears in equal time ; a number of translucent cards taking his stead. albeit having to resort to barbaric methods without magic, thankfully, shroud walk was still possible and it was all he needed at the moment. the thief reappears above Lotus, gripping the cane in his hands like a dagger as he fell down towards him --- “ now ... PERISH ! ”
