“No, but…” [Sonni paused and shoot her head, chuckling softly at her girlfriend. She watches as she pulls something from behind her back and Sonni’s face lights up when she seems the locket inside of the small box. She looks up at her girlfriend, tears in her eyes and smile on her face as she explains the gift. Sonni couldn’t hold back the tears any longer once the photo was revealed. It was one of her favorite pictures of the two of them. Once Milley had flipped it over to show the inscription, Sonni leaned in to wrap her arms around her girlfriend’s neck.] Babe, no. It’s…it’s beautiful. I love it so much. [She leaned in to place a gentle kiss to her lips before pulling away and turning so that Milley can help her get it on,] I’ll never take it off. I love you. So much. You know, I…I don’t think I could have made it through all of this without you.

[Milley hugs Sonni back, relieved that she likes the gift that she got her. She returns the kiss before letting her turn around. She unhooks the necklace before placing it around her neck, putting the clasp back together before turning Sonni back around so that she can see it on her.] Don’t be silly, Sonni. You can do anything you set your mind to. You’re strong and you’re so passionate and... I’m really just so glad that I get to be the person that you love. I am so lucky every day because I get to call you mine and call myself yours. I love you so much, Yasonni. And no matter what happens, I will always be here to remind you of that. I promise.

[Sonni continued munching on her snacks as she waited for her girlfriend to return. One of the things she actually appreciated about this rehab place was that it didn’t necessarily feel as though they were in rehab. Sure, they there therapy sessions and people who monitored them closely without being too close, but overall it was nice and made her actually want to stay and get better. She’d just finished off the rest of her gummy bears when her girlfriend stepped back into her room, kissing her immediately. Sonni wasted no time returning the kissing, giggling softly once Milley pulled away.] What was that for? [She asked, perking up at the mention of her gift.] Yes! Give me!

What, I gotta have a reason to kiss my beautiful girlfriend? [She laughs and sits up a little on the bed before pulling the necklace box out from behind her back. She opens it up to reveal the small heart locket on the inside, biting her lip as she looks at Sonni. She doesn’t know how she’s going to feel about it, but she hopes that she likes it.] It’s a little locket. I got it the other day. I just... I don’t know, I wanted to get it for you. [She takes it out of the box and opens it up, showing Sonni the picture inside.] I put a little picture of us together on the inside. That way, if I’m ever not around, I’m still here, y’know? [She closes it and turns it around to show Sonni the back now.] It has a little inscription, too. It just says ‘forever’. I really, just... I didn’t have enough room to say all that I wanted, y’know? But I figured that was good enough. Like, I’ll love you forever and I’ll be with you forever. I don’t know.. It seems kinda lame now. But.. I just wanted to get you something that meant something. I don’t know.

Fine! [Sonni let out a huff before rolling her eyes at her girlfriend. She nodded when Milley not speaking anymore through the movie, then held her a bit closer. Sonni kissed her forehead and wiped away a few of Milley’s tears, finding it adorable that this movie made her so emotional. She leaned back a bit when she moved to get up, nodding at instructions.] Okay, okay. Hurry back, babe! [She stated excitedly, deciding to munch on a few more of her snacks until Milley returned.]

Okay, baby. See you in a bit. [With that, she leaves the room, heading toward the bathroom so that she can freshen up a little. She looks at herself in the mirror, scoffing to herself when she sees how red her eyes are. She washes up a little before deciding to head back to Sonni’s room. As soon as she gets back, she jumps back onto the bed. She closes the distance between them immediately and kisses her, partially because she wanted to and partially so she can grab her surprise out of her purse on the table next to them. As soon as she has it in hand, she pulls away, hiding the small necklace box behind her back so Sonni can’t see it.] Are you ready for your present? You’ve been good, so I figure it’s time you get it.

Yeah, I get it. Sonni’s your best friend. You two have been a huge part each others lives for as long as you can remember, but if there’s one thing that I know about Milley is that when she loves, she loves with her whole heart. You don’t have to worry about her when it comes to Sonni. She’s so in love with that girl. It nice seeing her so happy after all she’s been through with her past relationships. [Giggling softly, Mel nodded once the kiss was broken, then looked down at the plate that was placed in front of her.] That’s if you’re good. Of course. Only good girls get rewards. [She replied, shooting her girlfriend a wink.] It looks amazing I think there might be some wine in the fridge if you’d like some.

Oh, yeah, I know that. Don’t get me wrong, I totally trust Milley with Sonni. She’s one of the first people I’ve actually trusted with her in a long time. Like I said, the only reason I feel comfortable being away from Sonni for the night is ‘cause I know there’ll be someone there to watch her as carefully as I do. I like seeing Sonni happy, too. Watching her pine over Mils for so long, I’m glad they finally got together. [Zora bites her lip, nodding her head before grabbing her own plate and placing it on the table.] I just gotta be good and then I get my prize? Easy peasy. [She walks over to the fridge and grabs the bottle of wine before grabbing two glasses.] Sounds good, babe. Wine and Italian are a match made in heaven. Just like us.

Oh, i’m the best girlfriend? Maybe second best cause you’re the best best. [Sonni hummed after Milley had confirmed that she hadn’t forgotten anything. She as also very relieved.] I’ll be on my best behavior, I promise! [Once making it back to the room and getting settled into bed with Milley wrapped up in her arms, Sonni focused on the movie and munching on her snacks though, her attention was soon torn away at the sound of her girlfriend’s voice.] Yeah So could I. I love snuggling with you. It’s one of my most favorite things.

No way, you’re the best best. I will argue ‘til the ends of the earth about this, Yasonni, don’t test me. [She points her finger at her in a mock-threatening manner. She grins and shrugs her shoulders.] I’ll be the judge of that, huh? [She pauses the movie before turning toward her girlfriend, not wanting to talk through it because she wants Sonni to enjoy it as much as she does.] It’s my favorite, too. Also, I promise I’m not gonna talk anymore until this is over. [She fakes zipping up her lips before settling back into her and pressing the play button. It’s not long before she feels tears start to build in her eyes, the opening song making her emotional right from the start. They get about halfway through before Milley pauses the movie, wiping away some tears and standing up.] I need to pee. Feel free to continue watching without me, though. There’s some choices Jamie makes that are really just.. They hit close to home. I’ll be right back.

It’s alright, baby. I know you’ve had a lot going on with what’s been going on with Sonni. I’m glad she’s starting to get better and that she’d doing good. Things can only continue getting better from here. Sonni’s a strong girl, I know she’ll make it through all of this. [Mel stated with a nod.] But, you’re right. Tonight is about us. I might have a little surprise for you, but…we’ll see if i’m up for giving it to you after dinner or if you’re gonna have to wait a little longer. [She added, shooting her girlfriend a smirk.] What’d you make?

Yeah... I just worry, y’know? You spend so long takin’ care of somebody, it gets kinda hard letting someone take the reins. Not that I don’t trust the people who are helping her, it’s just... Old habits die hard. She is really strong. She’s one of the strongest people I’ve ever met. [She raises an eyebrow, unable to fight off a smirk.] Is that so? Well.. Here’s hoping that I get this little surprise sooner rather than later. [She leans down and gives Mel a kiss before moving over to the counter to grab their food.] I made spaghetti with a homemade sauce. I can’t tell you what’s in it ‘cause it’s a super secret recipe. It’s got a Cuban twist to it, my grandma taught me it.

Aw, babe…you don’t have to pick out any sad movies to get me to hold you. I’d hold you even if you weren’t crying. I love having you in my arms. [Sonni replies, smiling at the kiss placed to her temple.] A present, eh? Did I miss an important day? It’s not our anniversary or anything is it? [She teased, knowing exactly when their anniversary was. It was a day Sonni could never in a million years forget.] You suck for making me wait for it, but fine. [Nodding in agreement with her girlfriend, Sonni hopped up from the bed, slipping into her slippers she then ran a hand through her hair before grabbing her wallet from her desk.] Be right back, my love. [Making her way down the hall, it didn’t take her long at all to reach the vending machine. She made sure to get a bag of gummy bears for them each along with popcorn, poptarts, and two of their favorite juices. Once she was back at her room, Sonni placed everything onto the bed then plopped down onto it, holding her arms out for Milley to come into after she’d gotten the movie started.]

I know, I’m only joking. You’re the best girlfriend, I know you’d be willing to hold me whenever. I love being in your arms. It’s the safest place I know. [She giggles, shaking her head at Sonni’s questions.] No, you didn’t miss any important dates, although I’m sure you’d know if you did. I just wanted to get my girl something nice. No reason other than that. Maybe if you’re good, I won’t make you wait as long before you can have it. [She winks and watches Sonni leave the room before getting to work setting up the movie. She gets up and slides it into the DVD player of the tv in her girlfriend’s room before grabbing the clicker and settling back down on the bed. She smiles widely when the other girl reappears, accepting her place in her arms once she sits down. She adjusts a little until she’s comfortable, leaning her head back on the other girl’s chest.] I could stay like this forever, y’know?
