Her words… speaking about vampires, it scared her. The vampire knew all about vampires, or at least she would in time. “You think? Well, I do like to sleep in the day…” she laughed, slightly uneasily in reply. “What would you rather be?”

She noticed the change in the other’s expression and behaviour - it made her very curious. Curious enough for her to narrow her eyes while locked with Madison’s, almost attempting to see into her soul. “A werewolf.” Millie replied, with her own laugh. "Do you not like vampires? You seem really on edge."

“I would have, but it seemed that you were the expert on the subject so I figured you’d guess,” he defended, though a grin still firmly in place. “I wouldn’t necessarily call myself a morning person, but I’m also not the kind to want to rip off someone’s head if woken before ten a.m. either,” Jax laughed, “Though, I have been known to be out for over 24 hours at time on occasion. Sometimes lack of sleep catches up to you, so I can somewhat sympathize with him on that.” Jax watched with an amused look as she pondered what to call him. “Oh wow,” he laughed at the final response. “Well, I have been told a time or two that I’m a right bastard, so I’ll go with it.”

“Well, you’ve caught me off guard. I apologise, next time I will be on full alert for your kind.” She hissed, teasingly. “I can’t imagine sleeping for that long. I’m always up and busy with a million things it seems... although they do say there’s no rest for the wicked.” Millie laughed. “Although, my brother is a different species. He’d be a sloth in another life. A right bastard? Well, I don’t know whether to feel sorry for you or proud that your nickname fits! I’m going to go with proud.”

“I don’t know, maybe there’s meant to be a correlation between the loss of melanin and the increased need for a higher SPF concentration in your sunblock,” he joked, the real reason behind the correlation being far to boring for their current conversation. “You would think, though if the only criteria to have you believe one a vampire is getting up at night, I have some news for you…” Jax trailed off as a sly look came over his features, attempting to play the part of a vampire but to obvious comic effect. “You know what? You have yourself a deal. What you got?”

“Are you saying that you’ve been a vampire all the time and didn’t say anything?” The witch acted shocked, placing a hand over her heart as if she’d suffered a big betrayal. “How could you!” Millie chuckled, shaking her head at his facial expression while she picked at her food. “To be honest, if that was the only criteria, I’m sure a lot of my friends and siblings would be vampires. I seem to be the only morning person, I know. Literally, one time, my brother went through a phase of not getting out of bed until 9pm every night. It was a crazy time.” She replied. “Hm, I don’t know. Lets call you... Jon Snow. Because you know nothing.” She quipped, with a teasing smile. “About what... I don’t know yet, but for now you know nothing.”

Madison. I’m jealous of how long her hair is, it’s beautiful! Get some sun, you’re too pale.

Grace. Someone I aspire to look like when I’m older, she looks like a model. Not letting me into her club when I am clearly 21. 

Jaxson. He’s a laugh and pretty easy to talk to, and he’s not bad looking either. I mean he’s no Evan Peters, but he’s something.”

Jax was pleasantly surprised when she didn’t indulge the curiosity that tinged her voice. Not so much that he needn’t answer questions, so much as her demonstration of a restraint not many had. “Yeah, it normally is. Though to be fair, vampires also usually burst into flames in the sunlight, not look like they’ve just gotten glitter-bombed so…writers take creative liberties…?” he said with a shrug. Jax laughed along with her as she flicked her hair. “I’ll oblige if you decide to go by ‘Ariel’ but that also means your voice is gone.”

“I definitely really got that... the whole sunlight thing. I mean, why? Is it literally so they don’t lose their pale complexion.” The witch laughed. “I get that it’s their weakness, but couldn’t whoever created vampires come up with something a little less obvious. I mean, I’d say half of the patients here are vampires... they always seem to want to get up at night.” She shrugged herself, with a playful smile. “Oh god, I’m sure my family would appreciate it if my voice were gone. You can call me Ariel, but only if I get to think of a name for you.”

“I wish I could say that was the first time I’ve heard such a suggestion, but it would seem that any pairing I’m involved in can only be described as unique,” he laughed, “Though, my mother does prefer the term ‘acquired taste’.” Her confession had him laughing again. “Well, google has worked very well for you. In truth I only watched like the first season or two, but basically their vampires are deadly ‘allergic’ to silver.”

“Oh, I see...” She replied, with a slight curiousness in her tone - but not enough for her to pry into his life. “Silver? I thought that was werewolves..” Maybe? She wasn’t sure. Her knowledge on vampires and werewolves had been very limited. “Well, I like my jewellery, so I think maybe being a vampire isn’t for me. I’ll have to go down the mermaid route. I’ve already got the hair down.” She laughed, flicking her red hair over her shoulder.

“You can sit by me, sure.” The vampire said, patting the seat next to her. If she had a heart, she was sure it would have skipped a beat at the mention of species. Although her expression soon dimmed at the realisation that the was all just a joke. “Vampires? Who’d want to be a vampire? I’d much rather be something that didn’t make me want to eat people.”

The fellow redhead thanked the other, and took a seat next to her as instructed. “I think I’d want to be a vampire... that would be cool! Or a werewolf. Imagine being able to just turn all beast like in the blink of an eye.” Honestly, she did not know if that’s how it worked. All she knew of vampires and werewolves were what she’d read or seen. It beat being a witch. “You’d suit a vampire. You’re pale enough.”

Taking the offered hand and he said, “I mean introduction then shared meal is the usual order, but I don’t mind shaking things up a bit. I’m Jax, pleasure to meet you, your highness.” He let out another chuckle at her complaint. “Well if you’re going the TrueBlood route, I hope your not fond of silver jewelry.”

With a quick shake, she smiled and released his hand. “Well, maybe we’re just different. An oddly unique paring.” She laughed, her smile growing at his compliance with her request. “It’s a pleasure to meet you too, Jax. I’m going to tell you a secret, I’ve never actually watched Trueblood. Just googled the hot actors. Why can’t I wear silver jewellery?”

“Well this is the cafeteria so I’m sure it’ll be fine, Millie.” She laughed, pushing the seat out with her foot. “Most of us come here to escape the blood and fluids that we deal with.” Lorelai smirked, running a hand through her hair.  “What’s on the menu for you today?” 

“Don’t mention blood and fluids, please...” She begged, taking a seat and deciding not to drink her cranberry juice. Setting it down on the table, she took out her sandwich. “Just plain old cheese sandwich for me. I’m living on the edge as you can tell. What about you, Lor?”

                         “ i do not mind at all … though that was certainly a dark opening sentence , ” he commented dryly , scooting over slightly to make room for her. he pressed his lips together , holding back a laugh at the irony of her choice in words ; he was both a vampire && a doctor , a fact he doubted she’d believe should he say anything. “ i work at the hospital as well , but i do not believe i have seen you before. do you mind my asking what department you work in ?  ”  

“Thanks,” She smiled, taking a seat next to him. His face seemed familiar, but it was no surprise that he did not know of her existence - she had only just started. “I’m a receptionist. The pretty one.” She teased, with a laugh. “I’ve only just started, but I think I’ve seen you around in one of those lovely white coats. Doctor, right?”
