I’ve been to Bluesfest almost every year since I was around 7 years old, and have worked the last 6 years with my Dad. If I wasn’t homesick before, I definitely am now.

Yosemite National Park. Possibly the most beautiful place on this planet! I have waited so many years to come here and it was everything I dreamed of and more. Considering it was bucketing down rain on the drive from San Fransisco, I couldn’t believe how lucky we were to have a clear sunny day in the mountains. Looking forward to another day of exploration tomorrow. Nature and the fresh air makes me so happy!

We started our road trip from LA to San Fransisco today. First stop was Santa Barbara for lunch on the harbour. This area reminds me a little of home. We are now in Pismo Beach where we will be staying for the night! We managed to get here in pretty good time and caught the sun setting over the beach. Tomorrow we’ll be heading to Big Sur, Pebble Beach, Santa Cruz and then San Fran!

It was nice spending the day away from everything with two of my favourites today.

So, after 6 months of waiting for a green card interview and another 6 months of waiting for my official move date, I leave for LA in just over 3 weeks. I am 10/10 nervous, excited, anxious and whatever else a human usually feels when they pack up and move their life to the other side of the world. I remember feeling similar about leaving for the UK last year, and that was only for just over 3 months. This time I am leaving behind so much. A good job, the absolute best friends and family you could ask for, my puppy, and my comfort zone… All for a city I’ve never been to and where I know absolutely no one. The only thing stopping me from having a mini panic attack is looking at some of my old travel photos and reminding myself what drove me to make this decision in the first place - experiencing what the world has to offer, exploring, pushing myself and furthering my career.

As terrifying as all of it is for a creature of habit like me, the next few months should be beyond exciting and everything I’ve been craving this past year. I am so looking forward to getting over there and decorating my little apartment, road tripping throughout California/Nevada with my brother and Dad, meeting new people and making new friends. I hope more than anything that this works out and 2016 is my best year yet.
