Oh my shiny other brotherly fandom where it has almost every episode but as yet not ended in death like my Casualty brothers. Icerde I adore you. Here’s a video of Sarp & Mert. I have never watched a Turkish drama which is so long before. For any newbies we the audience are 33 episodes in and every episode is 2 hours long like a mini movie. We have just four episodes left and these two boys have been through sheer hell.
Sarp was a young guy about to graduate police acadamy, years ago when they were children his baby brother Umut was kidnapped by Mafia people connected to his father, they believed him to be dead. Anyway the chief of police gives Sarp an assignment to go undercover and infiltrate the mafia. He does this by pretending to shoot the chief of police and getting arrested.
Meanwhile, cheeky, slightly joker esque younger guy Mert Karadag has similarly infiltrated the police for the mafia. Mert was abandoned on the streets and as far as he can remember has only had the mafia boss to help him. He’s pretending to be a stellar policeman but informing his mafia boss guardian. Well guess what kids, yep you’ve got it Mert is Umut Sarp’s missing brother. But do they discover this? Find out and team up? No not until episode 33 which is why i’m vidding it. We have waited about seventeen years for them to stop trying to shoot each other, throw each other off rooves or become mortal enemies. In the last episode they FINALLY discovered the truth and boy it’s so emotional. They have both been severely scarred by the separation but only ever wanted their family back and now finally they have united to play everyone at their own game and go ‘icerde’ aka inside. Guys i adore this show, I adore the brothers, Mert is broken and flawed and so like the Joker in his mannerisms and slightly traumatised psychotic nature that he owns my soul. Watch it if you’re a fan of brothers. It is sublime.
