Answering only with, ‘Is that so,’ I alternate looking at the message cards I received from Asahi, Kisumi and everyone, and Haru. On the bench sat many presents I received from everyone. Enough that it seemed Haru and I would be pushed off.-When we would meet near my college, we routinely met up in this park. Over Haru’s shoulder I can see the station building where renovations were just completed last month. We’ve completely become regulars at this park, too. Beautifully fall-colored roadside trees surround us on every side. The children who were repeatedly stepping on the fallen leaves and laughing together, were energetically running around in the immediate vicinity. Does that bag mean they’re swimming club students, I wonder?“And then, everyone put on an entertainment, you see…”Today Asahi and Kisumi, as well as Ikuya and Toono-kun and everyone had a birthday party for me. Haru came late because of a lecture, so I was telling him the events up to that point while also getting them straight.At the party, first Asahi and Toono-kun performed card magic for me. Apparently they had a showdown to see which of them could surprise me, but in the end I was surprised by all of the magic. Everyone laughed a lot, so we had a blast, but it was somehow frustrating. Saying this, Haru laughed at me saying, “I bet.” Now that it’s come to this next I’m definitely going to learn amazing magic and surprise Haru. Being so enthusiastic, this time I was told by Haru such a thing as “I’m looking forward to it.” Jeez, I wonder if it’s being thought, again, ‘because he’s clumsy it’s impossible for Makoto,’ or something like that. Even though that’s not the case.Next I was challenged by Kisumi and Ikuya to a showdown in poker, I believe. I made a disgraceful record of losing to a royal straight something or other 8 times in a row. This was also laughed at by everyone, and I was told unanimously such a thing as “Makoto, your hand is written on your face.” When I asked, “Am I that easy to understand, I wonder?”, Haru made an unreadable* face. Ah—Jeez, even Haru!
