My best holiday

I´m writing in my blog about my best holiday. My best holiday was in Croatia. That was the fist holiday in another country. Al the 15 years before we went to France. I was with my parents and my little brother. The road towards it was a disaster. We stood for at least 5 hours in traffic jam. When we arrived at the campsite, I was so happy. It was the most beautiful campsite I have ever seen. It was so big you had to walk at least 25 minutes to reach the other side of the campsite. The campsite was nearby the sea and there were 5 swimming pools. The weather was so nice. It was between 30 and 35 degrees each day, so you really need the refreshment from the swimming pools. During the holiday we chill and see where the day takes us. When we like it to go to the beach, we go to the beach. When we like it to go out for dinner, we go out for dinner.

Every year we have the same kind of holiday, so I would definitely recommend it, and do it all over again

Looking back on my internship

When I look back at my internship I can only smile. I have learned so much at my internship. I had so much fun working in a hospital and see how they deal with the high work pressure, and tough patients. My supervisor was so nice and patient. She taught me how I can communicate better with patients and how to become a better nurse. My supervisor was like a friend or sister of mine. We have talked a lot and we also laugh a lot. Every day I woke up thinking I don’t mind it to go to work and I think that that is what you need

I enjoyed so much in my internship, but what I liked the most was, the nursing procedures, and try to do as much medical things as I can. For example, I have catheterized a patient, give a patient a nasogastric tube and given a patient an injection.  

There are also a few things I need to learn and work on. For example, learn to indicate my limits and to give feedback to other people. 

After this internship I know for sure that I want to work in a hospital some day

A discussion

Today I have to film myself in a discussion, but I chose to write a blog about a point, and I am going to think about arguments for and against it. I choose for writing this down, because I don’t like it to film myself. This way I can make myself clear.

The point Drinking age should be lowed

For

1.       Otherwise the younger people will do it secretly. And I think when they do it secretly some day they are going to abuse it

2.       Otherwise younger people can still drink, because of elderly people buying it for them. So, it does not make any sense.

3.       So they can learn how to deal with it, and learn how not to abuse it.

4.       It’s their own responsibility, when they want to drink to much the risks are for themselves.

 Against

1.       It could lead to brain damage or damage of other body parts such as the lever.

2.       Younger people can not always see the risks of drinking and often drink to much.

3.       It costs a lot for young people who might can’t afford it, because they don’t have a job, so they can get financial problems.

4.       It will prevent abuse from alcohol from younger people.

Summary about healthcare in India

Today I have to write a summary about some movie I have to watch, and after that I need to say what I think about it.

In India is the public spending on healthcare one of the lowest in the world, less than 20 % of the healthcare expenditure is in the public sector. Some doctor in the movie tells that dis is because in India there are not so many doctors and not so many hospitals, and that means reduced access to healthcare. The people must travel a long distance to get to an hospital. For example, some man who has to travel 900 km to get to an hospital. The kind of care that people can access, depends on the amount of money people can spend.

 I think that in India the healthcare is very badly organised. It is almost unimaginable that there are people in the world who have to travel at 900 km before they reach a hospital, and when they reach the hospital, it turns out that they can’t afford it to see the doctor. I think India should make some kind of law, which is about the healthcare of poor people.  So that poor people also could go and see a doctor.

A day in the life of a Nursing Student

 My internship is at the Jeroen Bosch Ziekenhuis at the neurology department. The Jeroen Bosch Ziekenhuis is an hospital.

My day as a Nursing Student starts at 4.45 in the morning.  I have to wake up so early because the shift starts at 7 and I need to travel about an hour. When I arrive at the hospital I need to change clothes, because you need to wear some kind of white suit, and it’s made especially for nurses. After that I go to the department and I start reading the files of the patients I am taking care of that day. When everybody has read the files, we start together at the office to discuss the patients and things that must be done at the end of the day.

You start to introduce yourself to the patients and give them their medication. After that is done you start help patients with the daily care. Some patients want to take a shower, and some don’t. after you have helped all the patients you need to write down in the files how the patient is doing and if there are special things that must be done. At 9.00 o clock the doctor comes to see the patients and to discuss medical researches who have been done, or that must be done. At 11.30 o clock you need to start giving medication, and after that we have lunch break. After the lunch break we have an evaluation moment. This is to check if everyone can do what they must do, and if they need help. After that you need to work on the files and other stuff as ordering medication, talk with patients, possible discharges and do medical checks. In the meantime, you can have to take in new patients and take an anamnesis. This kind of things take time

When it is 15.30 o clock the shift ends, and you can say bye and leave. Of course you need to change because you don’t want to go home with the nursing suit

This was a day of me being a nursing student at the hospital. A necessary note is that every day is different, so you don’t have some schedule that you can follow.

Things that make me happy

Today I am writing about some things I really like to do.

At first, I would like to tell you about my friends. I have some friends who are very nice to do things with. They also are a bit crazy sometimes, and I really can laugh very hard with them. Besides only laughing I like it to do activities with them. For example, going to the cinema and watch movies, go out and drinking cocktails, go shopping, have a nice dinner or lunch and to catch up with a cup of tea. I can tell you much more about what I like to do but then you will be reading for ever.

When I’m not surrounded with friends I like it to watch movies at Netflix and eat a whole bag of chips, chocolate or nuts. Besides eating I go to the gym at least 1 time a week, sometimes when I have the time I like it to go 2 times or when I’m crazy 3 times a week. After I went to the gym, I prefer to go 30 minutes under the shower to relax. Besides all this fun stuff, I also like it to go to school and my internship. I want to learn as much as I can about the human body and how it works. You have very interesting documentaries about such thigs, and I like it to watch them.

When I was younger I rode horses. That was my daily favourite thing to do. I tried to ride as much as I could. I almost did this 10 years. After these 10 years it became boring, because I learned nothing more and I decided to stop after 10 years. Now I still like it to go to the riding school. Every year they organise camps for kids who would rather do nothing else than riding horses. Because I like it to be at the riding school I became a leader at the camp with other friends that I know of the horses. Every year it is so much fun to do, so I really like it to be a leader every year.

 For now, I have talked enough about al these wonderful things. Another time I will tell you more.

My internship

About 6 weeks ago I started with my internship at the Jeroen Bosch Ziekenhuis. This is a hospital in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. It’s a very big hospital and they have many staff members. In the Jeroen Bosch Ziekenhuis are different departments. My internship is on the department Neurology. That is a department where people with different disorders of the brain and nerves come to get better.

It’s a very busy department with sometimes very sick people. When people are being admitted at the department, the nurses, doctors and other people have to take care of the patients and make sure they are in good hands and get better. The people on the department Neurology can have failure of body parts. It is possible that someone who gets a cerebral bleeding or an cerebral infarction never have the possibility to move some body parts. I think that the department is a very interesting place to learn very much about the brains an nerves. But it’s also a place where you see very difficult things.

 I like it a lot to go to my internship and be a nurse in a hospital, and I want to be a nurse in a hospital some day.

My favourite things

In this first blog I'm going to tell you about my favourite things to do. I hope that you will like my blog and leave some like's and reactions behind :-) 

I study nursing, so I love to take care of people, to make people happy and to help them with everything. I like it to be busy, because i hate it when I am bored. With the study nursing you don’t have to be bored, because you have enough work to do. Besides nursing I really like music. Everywhere I go I listen to music. It makes me very happy. When I hear music I just can’t sit still. My friends are always laughing at me when I’m listening to music because I can’t sit still. It looks like I can’t handle my own body when I hear music. It just starts dancing.  I love to hear all kinds of pop music, and I'm always looking forward to hear all the new songs that are produced. I also like it to go party with my friends. It doesn't matter if the party is in the city or at someone's place, when there is good music I really like to go. But going to party is not the only thing I like to do with my friends, I think all kinds of activities are fun to do. For example, I like it to bake a cake, and of course eat it when it's done. But I also love ice skating, to watch TV, to go to the cinema, to catch up with friends but i also love it to cook. 

Besides these activities, i have a really nice place to live, together with my parents, my little brother and my sweet cat named Dice. It's a weird name, especially in English. Translated to Dutch it is Dobbelsteen.

My parents work very hard , so I barely see them, but when i see them it's Always fun. My mom and my dad working so hard has good sides and bad sides. The bad side of it is that my brother and I need to do some Household chores. But the good side of it is that we have plenty of time for ourselves. I really value the time for my own. In that time I can think of things who cross my mind. And i have time to work on school or relax. 

Talked about time to relax, that is exactly what i'm going to do right now. I hope to see you soon, when I post a new blog.
