this ai byler fic incident happening multiple times with incredibly popular byler fic feels like a lesson in trying to make a fic canon, a way of thinking that feels incredibly dismissive to fics that do not have that type of popularity in the fandom.
people read 'the big 3' and then think the fandom is dying. it's not!!! there are thousandssss of well written fics real people put their heart and soul and time and effort into, and this whole 'byler fic canon' and 'big 3' mindset is so silly. ESPECIALLY when incidents like this happen because now one of the big 3 fics is *allegedly* written by ai.
there’s nothing wrong with celebrating an author or enjoying a fic with other people. community is what keeps fandom alive! but we have to spread that enthusiasm, rather than concentrating it onto a select few works.
use the tag system. stop treating ao3 as an algorithm. give a chance to smaller fics and build community. fandom won't feel so dead when you do so!

i know everyone is probably frustrated right now and rightfully so but i’ve been seeing a new wave of “please don’t let ttmd;ttms be ai” and regarding that, in the nicest way possible, y’all are kind of missing the point of this whole ordeal 😭 this incident should be everyone’s reminder to stop treating fandom as algorithmic. the way byler nation has been moving since january is more than a little disappointing with the hive mind mentality and such. we used to be significantly better at avoiding this on tumblr especially but as expected, that didn’t last. this is your sign to stop playing into the hive mind and using clout as a measure of value because fanfic is supposed to be for personal enjoyment. everything we do here is supposed to be out of passion and for the love of the game. please keep that in mind 🤍

We always talk about how Stratt is haunted by Grace's screams and cries at night, but what about Carl?
Carl, the guy Grace built an entire hypothesis around.
Carl, the guy that learned to have fun with Grace while doing science.
Carl, the guy that fueled Grace's addiction to Skittles and Twizzlers.
Carl, the guy that was there every step of the way until the end. And then he was forced to stand by and watch as Grace was pinned to the ground, pleading for help, calling for him of all people.
I'm willing to bet Carl is kept awake just as much as Stratt was if not more so, utterly tortured by what he'd done to Grace.

Rocky has plenty, in fact, Rocky had enough food for 23 eridians for a bit over 30 years (because they were also expected to make the jorney back) Rocky has so much food, and he cant give any to grace because it will kill him. Every meal he makes he can hear Grace's body slowly collapsing in on itself from hunger. Rocky has to sit there, with way more than enough food for 2 and still watch his best friend starve to death.

The ending we got is the best ending we could have gotten. It's all they ever wanted. From the very beginning. From season 1 episode 1. From the beginning of time itself.
They only ever wanted each other and the universe. They wanted humans to have a chance of free will without influence from heaven or hell.
And they actually got it. They actually got what they wished for!
They got peace forever! They have each other. And that's everything they ever wanted and needed.

well apparently everyone else hates it. i do not. i love it. i love what they did with it, i love that crowley got to choose, i love that he chose humanity, that he did not choose to run away.
because THAT is who he is. he loves his stars and creations, he loves humanity, he loves the messiness, the good and the bad, the ugly and the beautiful, he loves watching them. he showed jesus all the kingdoms of the world to share that love with someone who he knows already felt it.
in the end, they made that choice together. it's a choice they have made before, over and over, saving humanity over themselves. no god, no angels, no demons, no thousands of years of suffering for all the millions of eternal beings.
personally, i choose to believe that god's last gift to them was integrating them into the fabric of the new universe, so they will find each other in every lifetime. but without anyone watching, without any plan behind it, without senseless suffering, without creating stars just to destroy them.
just the two of them, together, always.
