Okay so I was just spending today thinking about Miraculous again and one of the most reoccurring thoughts I was having was about like why Hawkmoth only primarily targets teenagers, children, the general youth yk.

And im not referring to it in the sense of why the writers made that choice. It’s a given being it’s a kid show and like a variety of budget reasons to make a new character for like each episode. No I’m moreso referring to coming up with like a in canon reason on why that may be; and I do have a few thoughts I’d like to share.

For me my view is that realistically it’s a much “safer” choice, for the most part youngers people emotions can be at times superficial and over dramatic, like it’s easier to manipulate a girl who upset because she didn’t get picked as the weather girl with the tv host rubbing salt into her wound, kinda result in cartoony and, from the outside, partially harmless powers (and I state that lightly because realistically you can make anything traumatic LMAO) it’s petty for the most part.

And while yes Adults emotions can also be JUST as superficial, it can also become extremely volatile because you can factor in personal beliefs, long term trauma, etc. which is more common in adults than children (again not to state that it’s true and fact, I think Chat Blanc is a good example of a bad akumatizion, the deeper the emotions are the more destructive I could see it being.)

Like yeah man if I was Hawkmoth I would also avoid akumatizing adults because yeah what if you get a man who spends his weekends ranting on a red pill forum about much of a bitch his neighbor is because she doesn’t acknowledge his existence like he deserves because he’s a man. Like??? That’d be weird as hell.

But it also does make me enjoy the fan content I see when people do portray Hawkmoth using adults because YES they will be creepy and weird slightly traumatic to see.

oh the topic of marigami + kagami being a vocaloid fan: what *do* you think marinette's music taste is like?

i think whenever i've asked people i always get completely different answers so i'm curious. ex: some people choose to dismiss the jagged stone stuff as the writers being biased old white guys, and some don't.

Okay I actually have put a lot of thought into this so incoming rant NOW:

To address like the Jagged Stone thing first, I’m gonna be honest in saying people criticism about it is 100% fair. The Miraculous Team didn’t really put much thought into Jagged stone other than being some stereotypical british rockstar with eccentric habits. They don’t actually really go into detail about just WHAT kind of rock he does, like is he on some MCR type shit, Metal, Pop Punk? Like what kind of music does he make anyway? I am under the personal believe that Jagged just makes the most digestible rock music ever considering how the show pushes the fact that pretty much EVERYONE loves it despite in my personal opinion that majority of the MLB cast would have pretty different taste in music.

Moving onto Marinette it’s a bit more complicated from how I see it. Depends on if I’m just looking at this canonically or am considering all the ways fans interpret Miraculous in the series. Like ik some people place Miraculous in the early 2000s while others sometimes places them in the 2010s-2020s which the two have completely different music vibes.

I do my VERY BEST not to push the “Marinette is an easy Self-insert kind of character” agenda but I’m gonna do so a little bit in this case because the way miraculous fans interpret Marinette either range from “Lover Girl Shoujo protagonist.” To “she’s a little weirdo but she’s cool.” Kind of stuff which I agree with both views. So yeah I can agree when people label her to listen to shit like Sabrina Carpenter and Taylor swift but I also agree with people who say she listens to Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne on repeat. So I think the mixed answers makes sense (arguably this could be a critique about Marinette considering that it’s not always great for a protagonist to be so “versatile” but that’s up for interpretation tbh.) I think you could label her with any kind of music and not really be a “wrong interpretation.”

I also know some may say that she’d probably just try to like whatever music Adrien does (though I do not believe that is possible since I have a personal headcanon that Adrien while musically learned has the most dogshit millennial core playlist known to man due to his father probably constantly forcing him to listen to classical musical while working.)

If I am to share to my interpretation of what kind of music Marinette listens to, I wouldn’t actually put her in one specific music genre. I think the music would be very mood dependent and she’d listen to it in her buds while maladaptive daydreaming and pacing around her room.

I think she’d have very organized playlist based on what she’s doing specifically (rather it’s a new project, daydreaming about Adrien, etc.) and it’d be a mix of music she found naturally and what her friends liked and have introduced her to.

Nino - a Mix of Eurobeat and House music he found on SoundCloud with the most weirdest names. “Yeah his user name is ThighCutter but the beat drop in this song is INSANE”

Kagami - Jpop, I actually think Kagami would be into really “cute” music unless she’s feeling a type of way. Some vocaloid songs though Marinette won’t really connect with it, she really likes PERFUME tho!

Alya: lotta R&B, some Beyoncé, Rihanna, Lady Gaga

Zoe - if we do a more modern day approach I think Zoe would introduce her to “white woman’s first rap” so like Tyler the creator LOL (don’t take this as hate tho I’m legit Tyler’s biggest fan 🥹)

Dose anyone remember how HATED Kagami was when she was introduced?

Like , why was she the jealous homewrecker in every comic and YouTube text fic??? 😭

And why was Adrien ALWAYS made to be nice to everyone BUT her ???

For example , I remember this one YouTube text/group chat fic where Kagami kept ending everyone of her messages with her name (super original headcoan btw) , and at some point Adrien snaps and starts calling her a grandma and insulting her for not understanding social cues ???😭 (talk about the pot calling the kettle black )

Mind you

Her only crime was having a normal, HEALTHY, crush on a boy her age .(Something that can’t be said for a certain someone but I don’t want #thosepeople to jump me so lemme hush)

People hated her SO BAD but it made no sense to me because everything about her was SO WELL written, and her character acts a heavenly parallel to Marinette’s hesitation not only about Adrien but other major decisions as well. In my perfect world rhats TOTALLY NOT A FANTASY AT ALL where miraculous is 100% amazing and the most well written piece of fiction EVER, the specific momenet where Kagami was something like “I never hesitate.” That moment would deeply alter Marinette’s approach to things going forward to act without hesitation.

:/ it is unfortunate though to see how much hate Kagami got originally since the only reason she even got hate was because “she’s ruining my perfect SHIP.” And only became more acceptable when she was no longer a “threat to the main ship.” They’re kinda doing it now with Sublime (though not nearly as bad since Fortunately our frontal lobes have developed since then.) Either that are the alternative of putting them in a poly, which isn’t an inherently bad thing but you can kinda tell when people do a poly ship simply for the sake of not being associated with a certain group of people that often ends up showing in a VERY one sided polyship LOL “omg they don’t care about eachother they both want Marinette BAD.”

AUGHGHHH thank you !! I just want Marinette to be clearly fashion forward in her own way because she's supposed to be, different from the norm. AS shown from how Chloe interacts with her Regarding the Ladybug aspect, I've been brainstorming!

I made her eyes wider for a more bug-like appearance, giving her an overcoat for the illusion of ladybug wings, keeping up the chunky ankle silhouette for her, and exaggerating the ribbons in her hair.I also just like the very vibrant blue with the deep red of the ladybug outfit

Her overall appearance is more "stern" along with her personality. Basically similar to her canon counterpart, quick on her feet and all. But is far more willing to throw hands and HAS. She'll kick your square in the jaw.

Trying to break down my thoughts is hard but! Just silly. I adore her.
