Before he could disclose that he was lactose intolerant, there was a milkshake being thrusted into his hand. His stomach was not going to like him later, but he wasn’t about to refuse a nice, free gift. “Uh, thank you,” he mumbled. “What flavor is this?”  

“Blueberry cheesecake. I ordered strawberry cheesecake. A common mistake i’m sure. Confusing a red fruit for a blue one.” She looked the guy up and down, a familiarity about him tapping at her brain but she couldn’t place it right away. “Have we met before? Sorry if that’s out of nowhere. I think i’m mistaking you for someone else.” Her question came out bluntly but her face was frowned gently, puffed cheeks lightly poking forward her thoughtful pout. It had been months since she had left and come back to Santa Monica, but it would bug her if she walked off without asking.

Nova practically perked up at the question but knew very damn well Mimi wouldn’t be willing to hand over the milkshake knowing the pink haired one’s condition. So she whipped out her Lactaid tablet from her pocket and placed it on her tongue for the brunette to see she wasn’t going in too recklessly. “Wait,” She quickly stuck her tongue back in and waited for the medicine to dissolve fully. “He was hitting on you?! Oof, I’m glad you’re not oblivious, I just thought he was kissing up for free products or something. I’m surprised he didn’t try to impress you by drinking too milkshakes in one go without a brain freeze. He had a nice bum though, I hope you know.” 

“I wasn’t looking that hard at him, but I love that you made the time to scope that out. I just wanted this milkshake.” She wasn’t going to get into how frequently being hit on happened or how she had crossed enough guys to know when some guy was stretching their neck to get her attention. Being out, having a milkshake, and not thinking about boys or work was the true solace. From festivals, to BBQ parties with friends, to milkshakes in the summer heat, she tried to focus on having a summer experience here. Before anything else could be said she was taking her first few sips. She paused to peek at just how much she had drank from the first sip before setting the straw between her lips with a soft pout. “Mine still needs to melt a little...but I suppose we’re here to walk around as it does.” She gives a small squint  as Nova takes her tablet. “You know. I think I should take that back and we can just trash it. Right here while he still sees us! If your tummy cuts our shopping trip early, I’ll never have a milkshake again out of sadness.”

Minjoon looked up slowly at the unfamiliar voice, pink blossoming across his cheeks when he realises, belatedly, that he was the one being spoken to. Two milkshakes back to back was easy, but he didn’t want to be the one who voiced that opinion and instead he bowed his head politely with a quiet “Thank you.” as he took the drink from her. “Do.. Do people really flirt over milkshakes? I um.. I thought that only really happened in movies… and to my best buddy. I’m.. I’m Minjoon. Thank you again, for the milkshake.”

Mimi nodded quickly, humming in agreement as she had started on her milkshake before Minjoon’s question came. “Mmhm! Boldness can find you anywhere. I’ve been flirted with over Subway sandwiches, once at a sushi bar, a bakery...Milkshakes is now the newest one on the list.” Mimi waved her hand in the air lightly, musing on with a soft shrug. “Sometimes I wish it only happened in movies. I’m just trying to eat something or enjoy time with friends.” She huffed and took another sip of the drink. “But you’re welcome! I hope you like it. I’m not sure what he made, but it’s not what I asked for. What kind is it?”
