We don't normally focus so much on Joseph during Christmas. But Joseph’s daring faith in the Lord is commendable. He believed God when He revealed that Mary was chaste, though it may mean a lifetime of ridicule and scorn. That must have been truly challenging. Furthermore He accepted the Messiah as his own child and raised Him with love. (Matthew 1:18-25). Maybe you too are facing a challenge? Do you need God’s help to prevail in an overwhelming struggle? Pray for God’s wisdom and strength to help you obey Him in the midst of your struggle. With Jesus on your side you will always be an overcomer.

Resentment is a bitter indignation at having been treated unfairly. We all have been hurt in life. Some more than the other. The mistakes of others are out of our control. But we can determine how we will respond, we can either imprison ourselves in resentment or choose to forgive the one who hurt us and let ourselves out of the prison of resentment and move on in life.

I know it's easier said than done. Be honest with God tell Him how hard it is for you to forgive and let go. He will strengthen you and help you. He will enable you to do it. Lay it all at His feet.

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever” (Psalm 73:26).

So this Sunday, I woke up early because it’s rare to me waking up early in the morning. And just lately, after the typhoons have passed in our country, I really fond of going outside when it’s sunset time. I really missed the clear sky and the sun. So when going out, I really take time to enjoy those moments. Today that I woke up early, seeing a sunrise is the best thing. I took the whole time watching and feeling the light touching my face. I am really overjoyed. But that moment, the sunrise and the sunset reminds me of the True Light.

Attending the mass today at 8AM, I would never thought that the Gospel would be about the Transfiguration of our Lord Jesus Christ (Mt. 17:1-9). Where, “Jesus was transfigured before Peter, James and his brother, John; his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light.” And just this early morning moment I had, is it a coincidence? For me, this is not a coincidence. It was a manifestation. God is reminding me that He is the True Light, the Light that we should be longing for.

If seeing the sunrise and sunset bring joys, how much more seeing the True Light. May we be filled with God’s Light so that we could share and serve as a guiding light to others. May God bless us all brothers and sisters who is reading this. Peace be with you!

"No rotten talk should come from your mouth, but only what is good for the building up of someone." - Ephesians 4:29.

Unwholesome talk comes in all its nasty forms, like gossip, criticism, sarcasm, lying, bragging.and crude humour. Someone always gets hurt by it. In fact, the words that come out of our mouth have more power to do damage than you may realize.

Yet words also have the potential for immeasurable good. Words of encouragement can lift a heavy heart.

Words of kindness can boost someone's damaged self-worth. Words of wisdom can help others make smart choices. Words of truth can bring others closer to God.

Listen closely to the kind of talk that comes from your mouth. If you don't like what you hear, ask God's forgiveness, then look for ways to build others up instead of tearing them down by what you say.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

Worry has never solved a problem. But it has caused stress, despair, anxiety, and much more.

Today's scripture tells us to replace worry with prayer. Instead of worrying, we are to tell God our needs, remember all He has done for us in the past, and thank Him for His faithfulness. Then we can experience peace so great that it is beyond our understanding! As we live in Christ Jesus and walk in obedience to Him, His peace will guard our hearts and minds. Instead of worrying, we will be enveloped in His peace.

Psalm34:1 I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

It's easy to praise God when things are looking good and going our way, but what about the times when we face trials in our lives and and we feel tired and want to give up? In Psalm 34 David didn't say sometimes I will praise Him or only in the good times I will praise Him...what he said was I will praise Him at all times and His praises shall continually be in my mouth. Life is hard, there is no doubt about that and the enemy satan wants us to give up. Don't, instead when things are their worst, get on your knees and lift your hands in praise. Praise God for being the unchangeable God He is and for being in control even when things seem so out of control. Praise Him because He is the Creator of heaven and earth. Praise Him for being the God that heals, delivers, sustains, strengthens, provides, and our help in times of trouble. Praise Him for being right there with you in the storm.

"Hi, how are you?"

How often we use this sentence as some kind of casual "hello." Do we really mean what we say? Relationships have become more and more casual and shallow these days.

We are the family of God. Hebrews 3:13 says, "But encourage one another daily..." And again in Hebrews 10:24 And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds.

Let our concern for each other be genuine. As we refresh others God promises to refresh us when we are discouraged and need refreshing.

According to Jesus, the ultimate definition of love is to lay down one’s life for a friend (John 15:13). Jesus did that when He willingly allowed Himself to be crucified on a cross in our place. He died and shed His blood for our sins. God loved the world so much that He was willing for His Son’s blood to be shed that we might be saved (John 3:16).

Jesus is the one I run into when uncertainty whispers louder in my mind. Because no one will provide you peace and comfort apart from Him. And He tells you of what to do when the uncertainty taking its toll. He will guide you to the people around you --- your family, friends or loved one. To let you feel His presence from them physically.

Reflection on this Sunday's Gospel

Last night and today, I feel so stress, depress and at the same time, my anxiety triggered all day long. I am so grateful that last night I opened up to my family that I got into a master's degree in the prestigious national university here in our country. Actually, I just wanted to keep it up on myself only, but I cannot hide it due to the fact that no matter what I have to do just to keep it only to me still it will be known. The reason why I opened up to my family especially to my parents is because of what I have felt last night and today that it still persists on attacking me. And my family keep cheering me up that I can do it.

Why I feel so stress, depress and worried? It is because I felt intimidated as soon as the class started last Saturday. I belittled myself and often negative thoughts are sinking into my mind like someone is whispering to me that I cannot do it. This tortured me mentally and drained me physically.

As I attended this Sunday's mass, the Gospel talks about the blind man who wanted to see. His name is Bartimaeus and met Jesus on the road. He begged and cried to the Lord and Jesus called him to come. They called him, saying "Take courage; get up, Jesus is calling you." He was asked by Jesus, "What do you want me to do for you?" He answered, "Master, I want to see." And Jesus, told him, "Go your faith has saved you."

The phrase that struck me upon listening to the Gospel was "Take courage; get up..." In the Gospel, it was said by His disciples. But to me, it was Jesus saying it because it's the overwhelming feeling of torment I am experiencing. Upon hearing it, I feel relieved knowing that I was touched by the Holy Spirit of God. And I am so alive in participating in the mass. Jesus is casting fears, negativities on my mind and stress as the mass continues. After the mass, I told to myself that I must keep on trusting Jesus and strengthen my faith in Him not only on the journey on my First Trimester of my Master's degree but also in my whole life here on earth until to be with Him forever.

Now, I am still on the process of healing and fighting this battle. I am hoping and praying that those feelings that torment me will end. Let's be kind for one another, for the battle they go through in life is not easy. Always pray for someone who asked for your prayers and someone you know who is going through it.
