“That is all we can do for each other in the world, to keep the wolf away.”
Today a young woman was browsing our young adult section. I asked her if I could help her find anything and recommended one of my favorite books to her.
She asked for adult books. She explained with great sadness that she was turning 21 soon, and therefore needed to stop reading young adult novels.
This broke my heart, so I told her that soon I’ll be turning 24 and I still read young adult novels. I told her that my mom, in her 50s still reads young adult novels. It doesn’t matter what your age is. If it’s something you enjoy reading, it’s appropriate for you. Reading isn’t about showing how smart you are. It’s not about how cultured you are. Reading is about enjoying what you’re doing. Don’t read something just because it’s what’s expected of you.
(Unless it’s a reading assignment for school. Then read that.)
Just in case I forgot he was there 😹📖
Something that will always allow Pride & Prejudice to dominate romance across generations is how Darcy not only rights his wrongs and grows to become someone Elizabeth can not only love but respect but does so without expecting her affection in return. He sees himself through her eyes and changes and improves himself. Not only that but he actively helps her and her family selflessly. Elizabeth falls in love with Darcy when he becomes a version of himself she loves and not because he changes himself to win her affection.

Discussion #2
Do you guys annotate or tab your books ? 🧐
Is it bad to write on your books or does it really matter ? Do you do Either ? Or is it better to just read through a book w/o doing anything to it ?
can't believe we all started saying and agreeing that men aren't shit as a joke but come to find out, they really aren't shit
Pulled this from my brand spankin new bookstragram ;~) teehee (same name !!)
Anyway, what book(s) are you currently reading ?
Currently alternating between these books with my Reading Buddies 🐶🐶
Join our book club !! Hahaha kidding :~)
Summer is almost over and I am suffering a withdrawal of romance. I’ve not been feeling my best lately and maybe diving into a good romance can help me feel a little better~~ Some (if not all) of these will be re-reads. That being said I’m not sure when or if I will get to this TBR but a girl can dream, right?
Anyway, here we go !
nothing can get better than this!! cafe reading + annotating (plus a huge mug of hot chocolate <3)
Have you ever wished to be unseen, a part of the scenery, blending into the background as seamlessly as a leaf on a tree? You make yourself scarce and keep your voice and head down and will invisibility.
Then you realize it works too well when the time comes you want to stand out...your wish has become your worst fear.

Found this chubby boy while I was out today !!
books?? amazing. paperbacks?? soft, cozy, may fit in your pocket, cheap so you don’t feel bad for taking notes in them. hardcovers??? beautiful, pristine, ground you into the world they hold by making you grip them tighter, the stars of every bookshelf. ebooks?? convenient, cheap, always with you, a vast library that you can hold in your palm. new books?? crisp, the smell of wood, ideas waiting to imprint themselves upon the world. old books?? objects transcending history, sweet smelling, enriched by the hands that stroked their pages. books.

And then he kissed her.
Kissed her because he wanted to.
Not to forget or to be more. Just to be himself.
after sorting books to donate and books to move to my new shelves, seen here, this is what some of my bedroom shelves look like now (also shelves in the third picture are two rows deep)
