The temptation to rewatch love in the clouds for the 3rd time just to see how ji bozai looks at mingyi
Fangs of Fortune (I CRIED SO MUCH)
I know I am maybe 3 years late but man. This drama.
I recently started watching more of Hou Minghao's shows because of Love in the Clouds. The last few eps of Fangs of Fortune has my heart cuz why is everything from the costumes, the lines and the music all so perfect omg.
Zhao Yuanzhou's last fight with him being in half black half white was perfect. Up until then, excluding when he was younger, i think most of his clothing was dark tones, black with some glittery shiny accents, so his final outfit being in part white surprised me.
UNTIL the scene he was telling Wen Xiao about the cycle between malicious energy and her divine power and some balance thing and i was like. DAMN.
And the last part with him and Zhuo Yichen. We know Bingyi and Yinglong were in this situation and Yinglong chose to use the sword to pierce himself while Bingyi was holding it. Instead Zhuo Yichen pierced Zhao Yuanzhou without giving him the chance to do it instead and I felt that was so on point for Zhuo Yichen's character. He is stubborn, even with friendships and he still wanted to save ZYZ in his own way (the saving a bit of his soul thing I will talk about that next).
AND of all soundtracks they use when ZYZ dies, rain begins to fall and his sacrifice saves the city, they use Hou Minghao's beautiful ost. This ost made me cry so much cuz it was sad, bittersweet, and you can feel what a huge sacrifice this is both in the impact on the people and on ZYZ himself. Will i feel like tearing up when i hear this song in the next few weeks? Most likely.
I really loved the epilogue thingy, how ZYZ's soul supposedly would wander around for awhile, but eventually ended up with Wen Xiao, literally as said on the contract she kept with her, and then managed to reach Zhuo Yichen. I can't think of another fitting place for his soul to be, other than with the people that trusted him and that he likely felt the safest with.
this concludes my rant yay
I just started watching Love in the Clouds (just because I saw good reviews I have not much clue what it is about) and why is ji bozai so touchy right from the start its so funny that theyre being such a honeymoon vibe "couple" from literally ep 2
Still waiting on happy ending (I will honestly be willing to wait for years)
What I really REALLY want to know more about the Kpop Demon Hunters
1. Rumi parents story (how demon and hunter fell in love)
2. Mira and Zoey backstory
3. More details on Jinu becoming a demon
4. Who Gwi Ma really is
5. Why only some demons are human where did the weird ones come from
6. Are the tiger and bird watching over Rumi now? Is she taking care of them
7. Sequel with Honmoon actually turning golden? (I dun recall it actually being gold gold)
Tell Me The Name MV + how Jeff Satur's music can touch anybody's hearts
Jeff in mafia-esque role. It is real. Dude looks cool, is cool.
The mv and song gives vengeful, I will protect you no matter how many people I need to kill vibes, I will be your executioner. Though it seemed like the girl was just using him even when he is utterly devoted. Was it really because she was hurt by them? Or is she just using him to settle scores, get rid of obstacles, who knows.
I especially liked the scene that her wounds heal but appears on him instead like it really transfers rather than show us him actually being punched and getting the wound, cuz in a way he is doing her dirty work. Even after she just leaves with only a note abandoning him, he still continues killing, and even so he still loves her.
The makeup, styling, on point.
Doesn't this all sound like (in a much less dramatic fashion without the killing, thanku), a manipulative and controlling relationship? Jeff satur's music and mvs all use a very interesting storyline to convey very common relationship dynamics.
Lost and Found -- healing after ending a relationship, working on yourself, despite losing a part of yourself due to trauma finding the courage to try again (pls dun kill me this is what i understood), and self love
Ride or Die -- the thrill of diving into a new relationship, sparks, feeling like this person is the only one for you
Fade -- the relationship that you can never forget, one that was hard to leave, that still hurts when you think about it
Ghost -- a difficult relationship that has no hope in rekindling (I think? I tried)
Common relationship (or breakup) things. Makes me wonder what this dude has been through.
Abit late but just wanted to give some small thoughts on the first frost (难哄). Imo excluding the extremely selfish mother it does seem realistic that yifan didn't pursue and a lot of people told her not to make it a big deal since the "uncle" is a relative (although not blood related to her). After all she was young, didn't know what to do and didn't have any adult to rely on. It does make me think about how in reality many such cases go unreported since the perpetrator is someone they know, making it even harder for others to accept what happened, so on so forth.
watching the first frost 难哄 as someone who read the manhwa not the book and Bai Jingting actually does fit the manhwa character Sangyan. I do like the first look and vibes of cold Sangyan and the aesthetics.
Moonlight Mystique 白月梵星 review
I love this show for so many reasons (spent 2 hours talking to my boyfriend about it lmao) I will start off with the storyline.
I enjoyed how clear the arcs were like going from chapter to chapter in a book, firstly in Ning An City, then Outlanders City, Fox Clan, Stone Clan, Bodhi City and then the final fight arc. It felt cohesive with the overall plan of collecting the contemplations, activating the stone to help Fanyue and to help Baishuo get stronger to take her revenge.
But at the end of the day, it is not about revenge. It is about protecting the people you love. Although all the side characters dying was not something I expected, and at some points the sacrifice some people made was kinda of no use (pls dun kill me).
Now we move on to the love stories. I did enjoy Fanyue and Baishuo's relationship, though theirs was based a lot on that they have a common goal and didnt rlly care about each other at first, but because of shared experiences and helping each other it turned romantic. However, I liked Jingyuan and Xingyue's relationship a lot more, albeit it ended so terribly. Honestly idk how he fell for her in the first place, maybe he truly admired her and he couldnt leave her be when she was injured. Chongzhao and Fuling/Baixi's relationship was kinda creepy initially, it seemed like she was just obsessed over him, but turns out they liked each other from a long time ago and they do have quite dark common experiences.
I WANTED TO TALK ABOUT THIS FOR DAMN LONG
I love the styling of everyone in this show. Especially the differences between Fanyue and Jingyuan. Lol honestly over the course of the whole drama Fanyue's outfits became more and more lavish until it finally became that Demon God purple hair, bejeweled cloaks and sharp ass eyeliner. Long hair really looks good on Ao Ruipeng. Baishuo and Xingyue's headpieces look very heavy and thick but the dresses. Wow her dresses are beautiful.
The makeup and styling for Fuling was done well too imo. Here eyeliner and eyeshadow was so thick and dark and the colour of her clothes remained so dark until she recognised that she was Baixi, and she gave off such gentle flowery cutesy vibes I love.
Overall I highly recommend this show it reminds me of Love Between Fairy and Devil and I would rewatch it again cuz i want to admire the outfits and sets lol.
The last time I cried this hard for a cdrama was LBFaD (but for LBFaD it was many big cries for MM it's like at the end only).
Did anyone see how purple Fanyue's hair became in the epilogue it's like the demon god ageing making his hair more purple lmao but dude still looks so good.
Fun fact: the voice actor for Fanyue / Jingyuan in Moonlight Mystique is the same voice actor for Xiao Duo (played by Dylan Wang) in Unchained Love
I love that the styling for Baishuo and Xingyue is so different, and also for Fanyue and Jingyuan (I love Jingyuan's slightly purple tinged hair and the headpieces I think they are leaves?). I feel Baishuo and Xinyue's headpieces are sometimes too big and elaborate (dun kill me please)
Sick Fanyue in his dark palette looks better than normal Fanyue in that weird pastel colour in the bodhi village (or maybe I'm just biased to his dark styling its too good)
Seeing everyone's reactions to The Paradise of Thorns I am now scared to watch it is it that sad and heavy
Ride or Die MV thoughts and theories
I may be completely wrong on things but I am extremely excited about the music video I saw so many things oh my god.
Theory: I think Jeff's character is being forced to remember that he had all that history with Becky's character.
Was the inclusion of the lyric there in the picture intentional? Yes, yes it was.
ANYWAY, he looks like he's in an asylum sorta place with clothing that seems really difficult to remove and his arms don't seem that mobile. We are then tricked into thinking that this mv shows things in chronological order (I think it is not). I think that the heist occurred first, then Jeff gets locked up and then Becky comes to see him to make him remember what has happened before, maybe because she needs him for something?
And he definitely does remember once she's done. His facial expressions have changed from wary towards her, as if they really are strangers, to excitement as he sees the images, and then to hatred towards her for her betrayal.
The jumping around of timings reminds me of this tv series on netflix called Kaleidoscope, also about a heist where you can choose any order you would like to watch the episodes in. Maybe not the most memorable heist show but definitely interesting concept.
Initially I thought she was hooking Jeff up to a lie detector-esque device or a mind control thing, but she was just measuring heartbeat and seeing his reaction to images. Of course, his heart rate increases at her touch, out of love or hatred? Or maybe both.
2nd major thing in this mv. Hi Sunshine? In some alternate universe thing (or maybe Jeff and Becky's subconscious), is Sunshine and some regal looking lady who literally crowns Sunshine.
I love the foreshadowing of the betrayal in this shot.
She holds a knife and then literally stabs him later.
This scene reminds me of Lady Macbeth. The whole seeing blood on her hands and seemingly to regret but trying not to show it in front of Jeff. Then she removes his crown? I don't get that part but eh.
Then we see that blue-haired security guard watching them is Sunshine. 2 Jeffs lol like in Ghost and Yellow Leaf. That completely disregards my theory on the subconscious thing lmao. Is Sunshine an immortal being that has lived through Becky's past life and experienced some shit with her as well so he's watching over her or something??
I just started watching Lighter and princess (yes I know it's quite old) but the ost sounds so nice and the actors are so good at portraying this tension between them like what happened in the past bro TELL ME NOWWW
4 MINUTES ep 7 scenes that I like
Extremely late to the party because of exams and stress but here are some scenes that I really like in ep 7.
Firstly I would like to address the lack of camera tilting that only occurred when Great was involved in the previous episodes, showing that this is in fact the real world. And also the lack of Great entirely in this episode lmao.
Now Tonkla is such an interesting character and it is shown by all these scenes.
The cutting tomatoes scene: The musical score that starts the scene is the constant repeating of 5 notes and echoes, possibly showing how Tonkla is now alone, without his brother that seemed to be grounding him in his decisions, thus all his ruminating and thoughts are all circling around his brother and revenge, like an echo chamber.
The tomato juice leaking into the sink, looking like blood as a foreshadow to what he is going to do and a reference for us as the audience that already know what he did. To me all these scenes are showing his thought process and how he eventually settled on the idea of killing Title and Great.
I liked the use of the mirror in this scene where it kinda shows that Tonkla has sort of lost his sense of reason, since the mirror him disappears first although they look as though they are walking towards each other.
This shot to me looks like an eye, constantly watching, possibly that there is someone watching Win's movements, thus him getting attacked in the next scene.
Lastly the blue writing moments. Since both Great and Tyme experienced it, my guess is that their real selfs are sort of warning them or hinting to them that what they are experiencing is not real.
