stand concept??
The fading fate of Nastasya.
made some sketches with my dark urge from our evil playthrough , where we trying to make every character who stayed in our party the worst version of themselves. Apparently, Gail still thinks there's nothing wrong with my character...
finished gintama yesterday....it was my whole personality in school and early uni over ten years ago haha, and then slowly I fell behind a couple of seasons and stopped watching...But it was still a big part of my life. I was so afraid to finish it now, to watch it more grown up, with more experience, and finally reach the end of the story and realize it's over
well i did it, and my heart shattered ...
sorry I can't finish anything for myself but i don't lose hope...
for a long time wanted to turn this sticker design I made sometime ago into full rendered art. Now I think I'm satisfied with the composition, time to render everything...
update of an art with our dnd party at sunrise. Hope someday i ll finish it.....
Hello! I just wanted to tell you that your illustrations are so pretty! I love how cinematic they are- especially with the character poses and colors! Youāre able to capture the emotions and energy of the characters and scenes really well with those things.Ā Ā
I especially love your DMC5 fanart. If you donāt mind, Iām curious what the process- or your thought process- of drawing that fanart was like? Howād you come up with the composition? The colors? These questions can also apply to other illustrations in general.Ā
Hope you have a good day!
Thank you so much!!! Conveying the emotional state and experiences of characters through art is my primary goal and passion, so I am very, very glad that this intention is felt in my work!
For the thought process....I don't know if i can describe it properly
Usually fanart is a compilation of my thoughts, feelings about a character/characters, and memorable visual images from the story. Basically, I gather information, identify my feelings about the story, and when I realize I have something to say, I try to convey those feelings through composition. In this case, in this zine illustration, I wanted to convey my thoughts about Virgil, and a narrative image wasn't enough. So I started thinking about how to depict the character's breakdown that so fascinates me, the sense of determination and drive. It's hard for me to describe it logically, but I decided that the ending of Visions of V, a completion of an arc for the character, would be a great setting. As for color, I usually go through a set of associations. In the manga, beyond the plot itself, I liked how the scene where V meets Virgil as a child seems to take place in a desert. This lonely scene seemed to me like a completely white surface and a cold blue sky, reminiscent of the treetop at the end of the game. That's why I chose this color scheme.
In short, my thought process usually revolves around feelings and associations, and relies on the visual library that I have... I hope I managed to write something adequate and answer the question :D Thank you so much for your attention to my work!!!
yeeeey I finally can show this art I did for a zine
This.
This!!!
This is such good fan art right here.
The composition here is pretty simple- itās Vergil with his younger self and V standing in front of him (plus the background, the colors are stunning by the way). But in just one look, it shows Vergil/Vās entire journey in DMC5/Visions of V.
After the attack, Vergil has been trying to acquire any form of power, no matter the consequences, in an attempt to never be weak again like he was that day. In DMC5, he cuts away his humanity bc he views it as nothing more than a weakness.
V is Vergilās humanity given physical form. He is a man who is physically weak and needs demon familiars to survive. But he does not let that stop him- he spends the game/manga trying to achieve his goal-defeat and reunite with Urizen. He uses any means necessary- making contracts with Vergilās nightmares and using Dante and Nero. Even when he is breaking into pieces, he does not falter-he has a lot of perseverance. Heās also very emotional- throughout the manga, he feels fear, anger, sadness, shame, and so on. He also forms a sense of empathy- for the woman with the necklace, the little boy in the store, Nero, and even Vergil. Overall- heās a stubborn, emotional character- very human.
Even though Vergil himself isnāt present in the VoV manga (except for the brief moment in the beginning and flashbacks), his younger self shows up throughout the manga. He specifically shows up to remind V of his current condition: human and powerless. Young Vergil appears when V is back at the old playground (where he was attacked as a child), when he finds Dante sleeping (feeling upset that Dante was āprotectedā but not him), when Trish saves him from falling off the cliff (when he realizes he wishes Eva saved him from the demons that day), and when Malphas is about to find him (when he has no demonic power or strength left to fight back or run).
You could say that young Vergil is a representation of Vergilās weaknesses due to being human, or Vergilās feelings of being weak.
But V realizes he needs these weaknesses- that without them, he cannot truly become strong. Power alone isnāt enough to overcome his weaknesses, but by acknowledging them, he can finally gain strength.
ā In this body, I came to realize what I lacked to become strong was something I always thought I didnāt need. My weaknesses⦠Even if I obtain some semblance of power, by averting my eyes from them, I wonāt be able to become the āmeā that can defeat Dante.ā
(From the fan translated English version of VoV)
That one dialogue in the epilogue has always stuck with me. The one where V hugs young Vergil and tells him he needs to stop running from his past, his trauma, and instead face it and accept it.
ā Although you say that the past isnāt needed, I was looking behind my back all the time. In that case⦠I shouldāve faced it head onā
Here, Vergil is facing his younger self and V.
Heās facing both his weaknesses and humanity. Behind them, the glass is breaking and letting the light in. And standing in the light are Dante and Nero.
In facing his weaknesses and humanity, and thus, accepting them, Vergil gets to leave the shadows and reunite with his family.
The composition of this is simple, yet it says so much about Vergil, how much heās changed, and what awaits him.
This is really beautiful, artist- you outdid yourself.
Sorry for writing a whole essay, I just think this really good storytelling here.
Woooooow!!! This is such a wonderful analysis!!! I'm absolutely thrilled I'm so glad my work received so much attention, and it even inspired such a wonderful essay! It really helps me move forward, Thank you!!
