Welcome to Mind or Matter: an upcoming webcomic about three college-age friends on multiversal adventures, exploring the internal and external struggles between different characters, and how they mirror each other! Drawn and created by @Anatthema-art and co-written with @Churrobird! The webcomic proper is currently in pre-production, and is estimated to be so for a year or two, so currently this blog exists for concept art and work in progress content! IN ADDITION: I'm running this blog as an interactable askblog to get to know the characters better! Send in questions that will be answered in-character! Welcome To Mind Or Matter!

Welcome to Mind or Matter: an upcoming webcomic about three college-age friends on fantastical multiversal adventure through the mindscapes of Nexus and the galaxies of the Astral Sea! It explores the internal and external struggles between different characters and how they mirror each other, through two parallel plots!

Mind or Matter is drawn by @anatthema-art , and co-written with @churrobird !

However, the comic itself is currently in pre-production, and my estimated proper start date is approximately in a year or two at the time of the blog’s launch. So, currently I’m using this blog as a place to post pre-production updates, character designs, concept art, all that fun stuff! 

ADDITIONALLY: while pre-production is still progress, this blog will be used as an askblog for a rolling out array of characters! Followers are encouraged to ask questions for the main cast to respond in-character, with simple sprites to accompany them!

Happy Webcomics Day! (2025)

Progress on my fantasy webcomic, Mind or Matter, has been pretty slow because life and school are very busy, but I've been chugging along on pages in the background, building up my backlog, and we're up to 25 now! SO! To celebrate for today, I've decided to drop the first 4 pages of the comic today! (proper updates will not be happening until I can be confident in my backlog amount) but thought it'd be a nice way to get people interested for the occaison!

Once the backlog is secured regular updates will be posted on @mind-or-matter , as well as the first 4 pages having new posts on the official blog

Hello everyone! I'm super sorry for the delays in page previews on my end, art school has, admittedly, been kicking my ass :(

I do have a fair amount of pages backlogged, I've been pushing just HOW much backlog I wanna make before releasing the comic just because I've realized with how busy school is I should have a lot longer of a backlog than I expected as a failsafe in case I can only draw a few pages a month like my schedule has allowed for ATM.

However, I do have a little bit of extra news! First off, have some previews from the last 3 pages of the prologue as an apology for the delay, since we were super close to being finished preview panels for the prologue anyways, and I'm working on chapter 1 now!

Second, probably some time mid next week (Wednesday/Thursday most likely) is when I will officially be launching the first CAMEO CALL!!! If you haven't joined the MiOrMa discord server by now, be sure to join the link below to be able to submit your OCs to cameo in the comic!

hey yall! coming at y’all with a page 12 preview and a little bit of an update on my end to be transparent about the delays regarding previews and my progress on chapter 1

unfortunately, right in the middle of lining the first three pages of chapter 1, my laptop fan broke. i quickly sent it in for repairs, but was told afterwards despite the initial projection that it’d take a few days, it would in fact take three weeks. i didn’t have time/think to back up the files, and while i have a new desktop computer now, i won’t have access to the wip files on my laptop until i get it back, so the comic’s on hold right now. and due to my focus shifting on artfight next month, i’ll really only have one full solid month of the summer in august to get more progress made. while i’m gonna try during school best i can, i’m not sure how busy things are gonna be for me yet this year. but hey! progress is progress and we’re chugging along regardless! so have a happy chronicle on page 12 while you wait!

As for a quick status update on the comic's release: I'm currently about to finally start drawing the first pages of chapter 1!!! I had a bit of other work to catch up on so I experienced some delays these past few weeks, but the thumbnails for the first half of chapter 1 have been completed so I'm good to start drawing them!!!

Since I just recently finished drawing the prologue, I decided for this special day I'd give three page previews instead of the normal one, for pages 8, 9 and 10!!! Happy Webcomics Day!!!

Unfortunately, due to art school and other tenuous life circumstances, my webcomics, Mind or Matter, is not officially launched yet. I’ve just recently completed drawing the 15 page prologue, and progress on chapter 1 will begin soon, so I’m waiting to build a more sufficient backlog before releasing the comic proper!!! However, I’d like to share a few of my style test pages and give the pitch of what this comic is about and encourage you to follow the official blog @mind-or-matter and and/or join the discord server (DM me for the link or use the QR code!!!) for page previews and additional material as I get the backlog built!

Now what IS mind or matter all about? glad you asked! Mind or Matter is a DnD-Inspired (and by that I mean it's directly based off of 2 DnD games of mine) fantasy webcomic about 3 college age students, Penny, Zenith, and Chronicle, who end up drifting apart from their once close friendship in high school and get thrown into a multiverse-spanning adventure that calls their dynamic into question!

The comic follows two parallel plots, Mindfarers, and Event Horizon! Mindfarers follows Penny, a dragonborn wizard who's hired as an intern at the Mindfarer headquarters stationed in Nexus, the crossroads city of interconnectivity between the known multiverse - they dive into various people's internal mindscapes, helping them work through their internal struggles through visualized metaphor!

Meanwhile, Event Horizon follows Zenith, a thoughtborn paladin recruited to travel across the astral sea on a small spacefaring ship with their newfound ragtag found family, fighting various space monsters and investigating a wider mystery that may be more intertangled with her friends back home than she'd like to think. Chronicle, the third member of their former friend group, remains at home in college, desperately wishing for a return to what she remembers as normalcy.

Mind or Matter is rated T for cursing, depictions of mental health and various traumatic events, and occasional dips into psychological and surreal horror- this comic is primarily about mental health and it'll visualize it!!

it's been a LOOONG time since i've dropped some previews! admittedly, i've been waiting to build up my backlog a bit because during school things were super slow on the page front, but since i've gotten out for the summer things are going a lot faster again! i'm two half-completed pages away from finishing the entire prologue, and chapter 1 is scripted and thumbnails are under way! so here's a preview for page 7!

Detective Darian Jackdaw is the best P.I. this side of Hell. Or at least he was before one of his cases caught up to him and left him for dead, or rather left him undead. Can the great detective Jackdaw solve his own murder? Or will the secrets surrounding his death die with him?

shockingly i am in fact still alive and slowly but surely making progress on the prologue! been chipping away at it bit by bit but art school is a pain in my ass, fortunately we've been getting some planning done for some future arcs, so have a little bit of a teaser at the mindscape character of arc 4: Perrin! (belongs to @parallel-2-anywhere) they're not v happy about Penny trying to found family them.

Captain

The Simply named Captain [He/Him] is the metallic head of the Event Horizon. Robot, Automaton, Warforged, whatever your world may call him is mildly correct. On his own world he's known as a Created, but he doesn't really care. He's a big hunk of metal with the express one purpose of serving as head of the ship, and he'll do a damn good job at that. He's a big, loveable caretaker, caring for nothing more than the safety and security of those aboard his ship. He tries his best to defend his crew, and unfortunately that sometimes can mean making the hard choices if his crew is put at risk.
