Y’know everyone probably didn’t call Optimus- Optimus right away after he got the matrix ie- after the events of tfone

Like I can just see a lot of bots- especially all the miners, (since it seems like a lot of them were close) along With elita and Bee calling him pax or Orion out of habit, and then going oh- shit I mean Optimus. Optimus himself probably still responds to his old name for a while

So now imagine a very popular D16, who gets hit on multiple times by the other bots because of it. And a jealous Orion pax who gets a teensy bit antsy that other bots are getting D’s attention

thus he gets into ‘accidents’ on purpose to get fussed over, Even if it’s just him getting yelled at, cus then he got D16 allll to himself

Thinking about how After his banishment young Megatron must’ve been so blinded by anger and hate that he declared war, how he couldn’t see Optimus trying to reach out to him. How All he saw was a new enemy to get in his way, his own best friend. And a young Optimus who despite being thrusted into this new role of leadership on the opposing side still desperately tries to change Megatrons mind, to come home to him again.. because he believed D16 is still in there, being soft for Megatron was the young primes one weakness

But maybe, MAYBE with a SLIM chance Megatron snaps out of that anger, he began to long for the younger times, when he was just D16 with Orion pax and like it or not he’s gotten soft for the prime. While Optimus grew into the role of a leader, all traces of Orion Pax now gone replaced with the hardened mask of a prime. His duties preceeds him, there are lives at stake now because of Megatrons actions.

He lost hope that there was anything left to save, that D16 died long ago, it’s only just Megatron now.

Megatron might’ve gained hope that one day they might reunite again, as D16 and Orion Pax, but Optimus lost that hope a long time ago
