“Soon, when all is going well, you’re going to look back on this period of your life and be glad that you never gave up.”

How to Build Emotional Resilience
1. Talk to someone: Sharing how we feel helps to reduce the inner tension (but make sure it is someone who cares about your feelings).
2. Work on improving your self-esteem: Self-esteem is the way you see and feel about yourself … and there are lots of lots of things that undermine our self esteem. For example, experiencing a break up, putting on unwanted weight, doing badly on a test or being excluded by our friends. It’s important that we keep on working on our self-esteem by treating ourselves well and noticing when we succeed (instead of noticing the negatives).
3. Manage your stress levels: If we’re always feelings stressed then it’s hard to cope with life. We tend to over react and have a negative mind set … which drains us of our energy and saps our will to fight. So take a look at your lifestyle and see what you can drop. You may be doing too much, and don’t have time to relax.
4. Make the time and effort to enjoy yourself: Doing things that we enjoy helps to improve the way we feel. So build in little things like having coffee with a friend, or going to a game, or taking time to watch some sports.
5. Choose a healthy life style: Pay attention to your diet and how much you exercise; try to limit alcohol, and don’t deprive yourself of sleep.
6. Develop good relationships: Do your friends make you happy? Do you enjoy their company? Are they kind of people with your best interests at heart? Do they treat you with respect and help to boost your self-esteem? If not, then work on finding new relationships!
‘There’s never a right time, start now.’
Yeah nah. There is definitely a right time.
Start when you feel emotionally and mentally ready
Start when you’re getting sleep. When your stress levels are low. When you can afford to focus.
EVERY time I have experienced success it was because I was ready. Because my life was stable. Because I was getting sleep and felt secure/routine in my work life.
Losing weight is HARD. It requires physical and emotional energy because there will always be hard days - which I think is what this saying is SUPPOSED to be about.
Start when you are doing the same thing every day and can afford to try ❤️
Ah, work work work
Instead of going to the gym I decided to cut my grass -30 min, wash the car -30 min, cleaning -20 mins.
Felt am...ok let’s not lie. Felt good to get stuff done. And the best part is, the legs behaved themselves.
Did 25 mins on the elliptical yesterday. The legs demanded that I stop, however, so I left the gym on two feet. Otherwise I’d have been crawling.
I didn’t make myself get out of bed this morning so that I could go to the gym, but I did decide to go for a walk a little bit ago. AND DONE. Feels good.
If your not motivated it’s hard to just do it, think about why you started and just get up and do.
Ok…I let myself…
I got into an extended funk earlier this month. Appointment with neuro was less than helpful. I just stopped doing much of anything; I went to work, came home, ate ALL of the wrong things, and just stewed in not caring/feeling sorry for myself/why this or that land.
But I’m trying again. Two days is not much, but it’s a start, ahem, again…). Back at the gym, planning again. Avoiding (mostly) the munchies. By the way it is far easier to not munch throughout the day while at work. It’s that sitting on the couch before I go to bed time that’s the trouble. It’s hard to get myself motivated to do other things after work. I’m cheap, I’m just this side of sort of lazy, and another meeting with the floor this week has told me that perhaps walking the trails at the park alone isn’t very smart (though I did just that Friday with no issues—I’m hard headed at times. What can I say? Anyway.)
I want to just LOVE working out already. Wake up geared up for that 30 min workout. Crave weight lifting. Really want to just get out there and do that Cardio. I love the feeling I have after I work out, but THAT’S AFTER I WORK OUT. I have to get to the working out first. I almost, I mean almost, talked myself into not going to the gym this morning. Almost. Reset my alarm clock and everything. I laid back down, but then something just told me to get my butt up. Day TWO. I was glad I did it. But after I got home from the gym. I wish convincing yourself to go to the gym counted as a workout… man. I wish that wishes and dreams (without much action, you understand) would get me closer to cute. SMH.
I have to put in this work. My love tells me almost every day that I’m beautiful. I appreciate more than anyone would ever know. I’d love to convince myself of that. Will losing weight help me see what she sees? Eh, I don’t know. I’m working on that, too. MIND OVER SCALE. That number will mean nothing if I allow it to be the sum of my existence. Huff. Well, here’s to another beginning.

This baby elephant got so excited chasing birds that he fell to his face and then ran up to his mommy. Beyond adorable. Credit: Jonas Sjöström. More cute elephant posts here: sixpenceee.com/post/109118889234/a-baby-elephants-first-time-on-the-beach
