Letter to the RP Community
Using an opinion blog to vent your hate is not okay. (As you can see, I’m focusing on this specific type of opinion blogs.) No matter how flippantly you say it was just for laughs, you’re hurting someone’s feelings through anonymity. There’s no excuse for opinion blogs. You’re harassing someone. It doesn’t matter if you apologize at the end and said it was for shits and giggles. You’ve still caused someone emotional pain and frustration. Cut that shit out.
If you need to vent, write a rant. Send messages to the rphs and not anon hate. Talk to them about shit you have problems with, don’t hide behind a mask. That’s low and at least have the decency to be brave.
Also, opinions are judgments, which means an evaluation of evidence to make a decision. You think the theme of someone’s blog is ugly? Well, that’s not what they’re here for. They’re here for providing resources to the masses, not to make their blogs pleasing to your eyes. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You don’t like their mascots? Well, they are the people who gives the helper inspiration and motivations. It’s a face they can hide behind because it gives them courage, just like your little grey anon is to you. Why don’t you take at least ten minutes browsing someone’s blog before you make a judgment?
No one wants hate. No one needs it. Ignoring an opinion blog in the hopes that they will disappear is not enough anymore. It’s like a parent saying to a child to not give the bully fuel to add to the fire. Well, it doesn’t work like that. It won’t stop until someone stands up and actually stops the bullying. And yeah, opinion blogs are a form of bullying. You’re using a position of power to intimidate someone and to ridicule their work. You have no idea how the victim will react to your hate.
Next time you encounter an opinion blog or are in the subject of one, say that it’s not okay and report them for harassment. Hell, post a rant and tag their url. Use your followers to en masse shut down their blog. Don’t fucking send any opinion blogs a helper’s url. Don’t help the bully find their victims. Don’t help them spread their hate.
This shit needs to stop. You’re always talking about how shitty the community is? Well, fucking do something about it.
