“Uh,” Elaine nodded. “Well, I suppose there’s more than one good use for a blindflold,” she smirked and moved her eyes to the pot. She haver been that kind of competitive or something like that, but people always wanted to be the best at everything really. Her father had tried before he got replaced with another taxidermist.
That was one of the reasons why the money stopped coming. His old clients found someone better and cheaper, of course. He practically blamed them and their mother but she never visited the basement and the twins did it once or twice but most of the time he was left alone down there.
Shaking her head, she took the lid off and then picked up a spoon to taste was what inside, smiling and nodding. “Perfect,” she let it cook a few more minutes and then bit her lower lip when a woman began to yell that they only had ten more minutes to finish their dishes. “So, the pressure is on,” she sighed.
Elaine couldn’t help but feel bad when a few other couples squealed and ran around the place trying to hurry their food but if there was one thing her mother taught her was that cooking had to be with time, not to rush things or they would end up pretty bad. “You can at least tell me if what you’re cooking is on the sweet side or not,” she said looking at Noah.
.
Noah bites a bit on his lips and then nods "Oh. Yeah. Definitely." He commented on the blindfold comment. Then, continuing his cooking he let the silence spread between the two of them for the time being. Soon, glancing back over toward Elaine to see how her own meal was going, Noah caught Elaine licking a spoon "You're contaminating everything." He pointed out with a small laugh.
Though his attention then went toward the woman making the announcements. The amused look on his face coming off as he let out a small sigh "Guess that it is." Noah replied to Elaine's own comment. He then put on a grin toward her "Though I am nearly done." Noah went to finish his meal, ignoring other activities going on in the kitchen. Though as she pressed about what he was cooking he glanced up.
Looking toward Elaine after a moment he licked his tongue lightly at a canine before saying "Not a sweet." He mutters playfully as he went on to complete his Cajun Catfish and Spiced Rice meal. Noah was sure she was just a sweet junkie, given it being the only thing she spoke about, on top of that being apparently what she was making. He went on to finish the final touches with his meal.

“Alright,” Elaine said and looked around for the nessesary ingredients. Everything she knew, was because of her mother. The woman took charge of the kitchen and they probably would have starved if it wasn’t for her. Since she was able to help her without dropping things, she taught her and her brother how to cook and keep their dad happy because the man would often complain that food was too hot, or too cold. It seemed that nothing pleased him other than the beer and wine he would drink for the better part of the day. It was one of the reasons why she never drank that much.
“About the kitchen fire,” she started saying. “I think Elijah just wanted to impress me and things didn’t work out as he planned, poor man,” she smiled. “He knows about to cook. I mean, he’s not great in the kitchen, but it’s edible,” she added, taking a few carrots and starting to chop them into small pieces. “I know someone who would be a danger hazard inside and outside the kitchen so he stays away as much as he can or he justs orders take out, which is fine but nothing can compare to home made food.”
She was talking about a member of the Ivory Serpents. He was young, probably four or five years younger than she was and everyone knew to keep him away from the kitchen. The worst was that he concidered himself an expert chef but it wasn’t like that at all. Elaine continued cooking in silence and then put a lid on top of a pot and took a seat on a chair, running a hand through her hair. Now she only needed her food to cook properly for a few minutes and it would be ready to serve.
“What are you cooking?” she asked him. “Almost everyone here is sweating and looks a little bit stressed,” Elaine looked around. “I mean, it’s not like Gordon Ramsey is going to come here and taste your food right? If he is and dares to say something to me, I’ll punch him and make him eat from the floor. The guy is nuts, I don’t give a fuck what other people say.”
.
Watching Elaine get to work on a meal, Noah paused a moment. Briefly he wondered what she might end up making with her 'excellent cooking skills' that she was bragging about moments before. Then he went back to paying attention to his own meal. Not paying too much attention to Elaine for the time being while she prepped her own meal.
Though when she finally did speak up, elaborating on the kitchen fire, Noah glanced over "Really?" He questioned the other. Seemed to be something that would happen, people tended to act so foolishly when trying to impress others. Noah nodded acknowledged of what Elaine had been saying "That is good. Edible is better than nothing."
Playing along still, he laughed a bit at what she said of another person she knew "Maybe he'll learn in his own time." The threat of starvation often made people learn real quick on how to survive, if not allowing themself to simply just die. As quiet fell over them again he continued with his meal preparations. Only to hear Elaine’s question.
"Huh. Well... I can't tell you what I am cooking. That's part of the competition. You're supposed to taste it and figure it out for yourself. Same with me." Noah reminded lightly. Glancing around at the other competitors then he makes a face at seeing people actually stressing over such a silly event "Aahh. No. It's just our competition partners..." Noah shrugged it off.

Jayden knew that The Perez were not to mess with, but the thing about her is that fear was an emotion she no longer could actually feel. Which made her all the more dangerous, her kids were no longer defendless. Thanks to Jayden, they were very efficient. Her wife? Well the woman was the complete depiction of bad ass. She chuckled softly as Noah told her she talks about Elijah. “Sounds to me like that seems to be a favorite subject of hers maybe i should pay him a visit?” She chuckled softly at his answer. “i don’t doubt you for a second, those charms once had me hooked too.” She said honestly as she thought of Marcus.
Jayden hummed softly, “If she keeps moving with fear and paranoia, i honestly won’t think it would be any better. Especially if we take out Elijah out of her equation, she seems to be very dependant on him.” She nodded in agreement as she hummed softly, “Seems that will be her demise if she doesn’t learn to control it. Though i would not mind being the one that teaches her that lesson.” She didn’t get the need for attention, maybe because Jayden had learned to live in the shadows because that was juat the best way to get things done effectively. She had learned that very long ago.
She knew that Noah only took order’s from Piero directly so she wasn’t exactly sure what his plan was to deal with the whole situation but she knew she could trust him to take care of it properly. She nodded in agreement. “Good because you could be useful.” If there was one think she didn’t like was when people were doubtful or her, Elaine wasn’t intimidating her. Far from it, she looked like a kicked puppy. “Darling, Elaine is working my last nerve and that usually ends with people six feet under just ask my late husband.” She said with a confident smile. “She won’t be much different.”
.
He had never been too interested in the entire 'crime family' thing. That was not something he wanted for his family. His wife was raised in one, he had been invited to the Reapers. But Noah would never force such a life onto his children. It wasn't that it was something emotional for him. It was that he thought it would be better for the continuation of his bloodline. Noah let out a huff through his nose as Jayden chuckled, squinting a bit "Pay Elijah a visit?" Noah questioned her then. He wondered what she thought she was doing. This didn't seem quite like the behavior of a Vice President in a well known gang. Adjusting himself a little, Noah shook his head "As long as that's okay with Piero. I don't see why it would be a problem."
Noah couldn't agree more. Elaine's actions, for what he had heard second hand anyway by that point, seemed like that of someone confused and scared. Noah glanced to one side, thinking a moment before finally saying "Does she seem like she is?" Noah questioned. Not too sure of that. He hadn't gathered enough information however. Elijah seemed more of a point of contention to Elaine. It was an ex husband, someone she had felt betrayed by. Noah couldn't help but imagine that whatever was going on in Elijah's life, or whatever happened to the man himself. Would probably not matter to Elaine. It didn't seem Elaine's life mattered to Elaine, at this point. Noah glared then, the same he did with the Agosti who had tried to take his prey weeks ago "Elaine's my kill. Understand?"
Was she the Vice President? Sure. Should he have held her in higher regard to that of the Reaper who brought the information to him about Elaine's participation in the gang. Sure. But that was the thing about Noah. His loyalty was almost entirely toward Piero alone. He didn't take well to orders by others in the branchs of the gang. Jayden only had so much control over him. But it was not all encompassing "Just make sure you see that it's so. In whatever you're planning..." Noah warned Jayden lightly. He would not spend time warning her of such again. Next time he would show her how serious about this he was. Noah grinned toward Jayden then "There's no doubt that I am useful. It's not even a question, Jayden." Standing up from his seat, he towered over Jayden.
Staring down at Jayden, Noah clears his throat at her complaint about Elaine bothering her over dinner "Elaine's annoying you is not my problem. Do mind that you are Vice President, Jayden. The others look to you when Piero's voice cannot be heard. Just mind your temper. Elaine's already marked, we don't need to rush things. Piero has it all under control."
jaydengrxyson:
Jayden nodded, “I am. Elaine is being reckless and messy, I don’t like it. Plus if her ex-husband is anything like his Uncle well, lets just say I have history with the Mackells.” She ran her fingers through her long dark locks as she scratched her scalp. “Have you gotten anything out of her?” She had sent Noah out to gather intel as soon as Clara was rushed to the hospital after the shooting. She rolled her eyes softly, “I’m sure your sense of humor is truly what won your wife over.” She joked aoftly. Did she like testing his limits, yes? That was Jayden in a nutshell. She tested everyones limits, her own wife included. She loved learning what made others tick.
She nodded in agreement, “One can only hope that the best places in the city are away from them.” She knew they couldn’t fully track them but thanks to neighborhood rumors and police intel they were able to stay away from the heavy presence areas. She took a drag from her cigarette. “Oh trust me, not as much as i did. I don’t remember being that self-centered at her age. Then again, with three kids therr isn’t enough time to make the world revolve around me.” She smirked at Noah, “To think i would think you knew me better, why say no when you can mislead them darling? Have her completely obsessed over one thing just to pull something different. You know chess strategy. Think ahead of your opponent.”
She hummed softly, “After losing his son, Giovanni promised to take mine no matter what. Finding me and defeating me are to different challenges Noah.” She said honestly. “We will, Adelite invited him over for dinner after she gets back from her work trip. Just after Valentine’s Day. Though we both know that man well enough that he will agree to teach her a lesson after the stunt she pulled.”
.
Noah looked toward Jayden, listening to what she had to say then. He couldn't agree more about Elaine being reckless. Though her reckless behavior had started weeks ago, it seemed that now she was just losing her mind a bit. That was probably because she was scared now, scared perhaps because whoever was above her in the gang, was not someone to mess with. Though Jayden's talking of Elijah's uncle had him studying the other's face. Who was Elijah's Uncle? He didn't know "Nothing so far. Just talk of Elijah and chit chat about being at the bar late a night." Though with Jayden's joke about his wife he offered a smile "No. It was my good looks and murderous intensity toward life in general."
"But If she's left to her own devices and acting this blatant, one can only hope that her next attempt on our lives will not be as flawed as the attempt at New Years." As Jayden mentioned the best places to be in the city he offered a slight smirk "Yeah." He wasn't agreeing so much as he was saying something just to fill the blank spot. Noah gave a few quick nods as Jayden further spoke about Elaine "New age personality trait. Big egos. Little self control on how to be a lot less transparent?" He offered a solution. Though he was the same age as Elaine, give or take a couple of years. So he could understand the boredom and need for attention at any cost. At Jayden's comment on him knowing her he shook his head.
He didn't really know what to say to that at the moment. At the question to mislead he offered a mock smile "Well, I guess I can't argue with that." He was guilty of such tactics himself. Though he wouldn't say he wasn't playing such a game with the woman before him, now, either. Continuing to listen to her, he nodded "Yeah. I am not much of a chess player." He informed the Vice President. Quirking an eyebrow however he thought about what she was saying in that moment "I guess. But you know Jayden...Elaine has surprised us all before." Noah tapped a foot on the floor, offering a cunning little smile toward the older woman "One can only hope that she meets her comeuppance in the end. We are all due it."

“Maybe so,” Elaine said with a small smile. Friendship and even romance had started in stranger places, right? She looked around the place and most of them were couples, giggling and kissing each other here and there. It almost made her want to puke, almost. But she had been in that place before. Sure, she never acted like a love sick fool, but she knew what they were feeling and hoped it didn’t end like it did for her. Shaking her head, she went back to the task at hand. The last thing she needed was to injure herself for remembering the past.
At his words, she couldn’t help but laughed. “Actually, yes.” Elaine noticed that there was a bag of chocolate chips and opened it to pick up a few and put them in her mouth. “My brother doesn’t have the nessesary skills to work in the kitchen but he’s better than my ex. The first time he tried to cook for me, he ended up getting the kitchen on fire,” she rolled her eyes. “It wasn’t that big of a deal to call the fire department, but that prevented us from doing it again, unless I was there to help him.”
She took a couple of eggs and prepared everything along with milk and flour inside a bowl. “You know your way around your knife, huh?” Elaine commented when she saw him chopping some of the vegetables he had on his table. it reminded her of the way her father used to handle his own blade when he was working in their basement and a shiver ran down her spine. One that brought back other memories. Taking a deep breath, she cleaned her hands and took the meat that was inside a plastic bag.
“So what exactly are we doing here?” she asked. Her green eyes noticed that were was a can of strawberry sauce and she couldn’t help but take it and open it, to get some of her fingers. “So very yummy,” she commented with a small smile.
.
"Uh huh." Noah squint and then turned his attention back to his food, keeping an amused, friendly look on his face. He just needed to get through this week. With the quiet that followed for a moment Noah continued to work on his separate meal. Though as Elaine again spoke up he glanced up toward her "Oh? Interesting." He grumbled lowly in response. Watching as she then ate some chocolate chips, he wondered if she understood what they were currently supposed to be providing an example of for others to know the rules of the game.
Or maybe she was going to make chocolate chip cookies. Offering a laugh at what she said of her brother and ex husband he shook his head in the next moment " A kitchen fire. You really have to be bad at cooking to be that bad." He muttered then, chopping away at ingredients for his meal. Further listening to Elaine he nodded before saying "Well, everyone should at least know the basics of cooking, you would think. At least these days. It's not much of an excuse not to know how to not burn your kitchen down over something simple.."
At her question of his skills with a knife he nodded "Yes. Years of being a butcher will do that for you." Noah lightly reminded of his profession. He gave a shrug then "You tend to know what needs to be done when you spend a lot of the time cutting the perfect meats off an animal." Stopping his cutting for a moment he turned his head to look at her, offering another mock smile "Most cuts in the kitchen happen because of a lack of understanding of the knife. Though I do find it very entertaining at times to watch other people cut wrongly."
With her question on what they were doing Noah frowns at a bit "Well, on the pamphlet it says that this is a cook off sort of thing. I cook a meal. You cook a meal, and then we feed each other the meals we cooked, blindfolded and try and guess what the meal is, or some shit." He explained. But it seemed to him she was more interested in eating from the ingredients than actually cooking a meal. Kind of going against her saying she could cook, Noah had found himself noticing "So cook something?" He then suggested "Show me your good cooking skills."
“ i’m not who i used to be. ”

Noah had been standing in line at the bank when he heard the woman mutter that. Glancing toward the blonde, he gave a confused look to her, almost bordering disgust “Okay? Who are you now and who did you used to be then?” He had to ask. Since she was talking so openly. Well, not really. But why else would anyone say such a thing, even under their breath. Maybe inquiring would pass the time while they both waited on the bank to get their shit together “If you don’t mind me asking?” He continued, putting on a semi polite persona.

As Elaine approached him, Noah had become confused. She was getting far too close for comfort, actually. That was close enough! Then her finger tapped his nose. Glancing toward his nose a moment, he contemplated briefly, snapping her neck. Before putting on a smile “Cute. But you’re a bit too close for a stranger, right?” He questioned with a raised eyebrow.

Jayden shook her head, “Not really, I was just briefing some of the soldiers about their new positions on my security team at the casino. with everything going on, I rather have more closer to me than actual security.” she let out a soft chuckle as she rolled her eyes playfully, “take a joke Noah, I have enough on my plate for you to be to serious.” she teased softly though his seriousness was one of the qualities, she liked about him.
she hummed softly, “yes, but you know I don’t eat anywhere their presence is at.” she said honestly, she avoided any place she knew would have a high presence of serpents, mostly because she wasn’t the one to stand down from a fight when it came to her. “Well tested my patience she did, Noah. She grabbed food from my plate!” she was still irritated at the thought.
she chuckled softly as she looked at Noah, “I don’t hide Noah, I didn’t hide from my ex. I’m not hiding from this child.” she said honestly, the Falcones were something that she still had to deal with from time to time. she knew she would when she didn’t give up her son. “I however do want to remind her who she is trying to mess with.”
.
"Really? So you are getting more security?" He questioned the VP. Noah was glad he didn't have to deal with such stresses, himself. It seemed he had managed to find greater comfort in being a Hitman, that took orders straight from Peiro. Nodding at what she had said he couldn't see why she shouldn't do something like that "Makes sense." At her telling him to take a joke he narrowed his eyes a bit "I'm going to pass on that." Noah replied bluntly.
Noah inhaled sharply, knocking his head to one side "Anywhere you can hope they have no presence anyway." He said then. It wasn't like they could keep track of every single snake that slithered on by. But he was sure that most snakes would not go out of their way to mess with the Reaper VP. As Jayden went on talking about her run in with Elaine he nodded "I bet. She seems to get a kick out of it." Hearing that Elaine had grabbed food from off of Jayden's plate he raised his eyebrows.
"Apparently she's a complete savage, too." He encouraged her annoyance with Elaine's invasive behavior "I suspect you told her 'No' in the most polite way possible, for it?" Noah questioned. Though when she said she didn't hide he nodded "But you expect them not to find you. Mm." Noah leaned into his chair "Well the child does need to learn a lesson. Maybe she's just trying to get that lesson taught sooner to her, rather than later?" Of course Noah knew Jayden's story and how she got with the Reapers.
It wasn't a mystery why she was the way she was, to him. As she brought up sending a message to Elaine to stay her misbehaving ways he sniffed "Then talk to Piero and we'll have something be done about it." Though they were already working on her. With the information he received on Elaine's part in the shooting that ended up in Clara's being shot, he was very sure Elaine had a lot to deal with on her own plate, to be taking from another’s.

“Likewise,” Elaine said with a small smile. “But here we are,” she sighed. “It seems fate wants us to find each other after that night.” They had shared a couple of words and that was it, just two strangers in the night and nothing more, not even their names. She had been trying to find something yummy to eat when she was pulled away and practically dragged into the event that was being held.
“I’m better than my ex and my twin, that I can promise you,” Elaine said, taking another knife. Her first Valentine with Elijah had almost ended in tragedy when he tried to cook for her. They had to order some food at the end and Tristan wasn’tthe best in cooking food either. She knew most recipes because her mom taught her and she cooked for her when she had been too weak to do it herself.
“So what are we doing and what’s the price for winning this stupid contest?” she asked, looking around to see other couples.
.
Noah offered a small smile back to Elaine before looking toward his work "So we are. Guess there's not much to be done about that." Noah commented to what she sighed out "Maybe this could be the start of a friendship. Fate probably figures we might need it." He played along, resisting the urge to roll his eyes about what he had been saying. Noah had been encouraged to 'participate' today. It just so happened he was feeling a bit hungry when he walked into the Sea Side.
"Oh you're ex and twin don't have any skills. Figures. Males, right?" Noah played along giving a nod and reaching for some other ingredient to add to his meal "Probably still of the mindset to believe it's a woman's job." It was, don't get him wrong. To take care of the family. But Noah wasn't going to just say that. Women these days were easily offended by their positions in the hierarchy of the family unit. Noah glanced up, knowing that Constantina wouldn't hear of it and often let him know it.
Still, it didn't change his internal thoughts on the matter. Women were to take care of the children and the family. Many saw it as 'serving' rather than something imperative. Noah thought it was the easiest way through life, to be able to take care of the home front was a privilege. The wife always had the final word, back in the day. Sure, it was an archaic way of thinking, but if a wife back in the day wasn't happy at home. They could make the rest of life hell for a man.
Listening to Elaine, Noah nodded "I think it's for some scavenger hunt? So I am sure the prize is probably some cheap reward. They usually are." Noah informed as he started bringing his meal together while she was asking questions "Maybe you get a big heart cake at the end. Made of icecream."

He was the last thing Jaxon needed today - truly, all he wanted was to enjoy a drink by himself. Though, of course, a wanker like him just had to ruin it. Laughing at Noah’s words, he leaned back against the counter, not caring about being close to the other or letting the other use his height as an advantage/intimidation tactic. He’s beaten up people a lot bigger than Noah. “If name-calling is your only combat, perhaps witty trash talk isn’t your best trait.” He taunted. Jaxon wasn’t going to back down, but he wasn’t going to start anything first - he always refused to throw the first punch, and there was nothing the other could say to change that.
“Well, it’s not getting rid of you. So, it’s not doing its job.” He simply shrugged, picking up his glass and taking a longer sip, looking directly at Noah. Not saying another word. The ball is in the other’s court. Whatever move he made, Jaxon was sure to replicate it. Whether it would be to continue their talk, walking away, or perhaps throwing a punch. No matter what it was, the Australian mechanic is fully prepared for it.
.
Noah glanced away when Jaxon tried to have some witty banter and come backs with him. Then he gave a slow nod "It's not my only combat. But you aren't worth the fuss of what I could do to you right now." He informed foreboding-ly. Though he was curious as to why his trash talk wasn't very good. Maybe the other was lying, that's why they had to make a comment on it, instead of brushing the comments off "If you say so. But you words tell me otherwise." Raising his eyebrows at that he glanced away momentarily from Jaxon before looking back "Just some food for thought."
Though it seemed like the other male was really itching for a fight. Which was amusing because they looked kind of like if the wind blew they would fall over. They looked that worn out and stretched that thin. Noah wasn't even going to entertain a bar fight with this guy. Though even if they did look fit and fine, he still probably wouldn't. Noah did not get into bar fights. It was beneath him. As Jaxon went on he made a face "Well this isn't your private property. So I guess while I want a drink here. I'm going to have one, here. There's nothing you can do besides leave yourself, to stop me."

The two men are the same age, who lived in the same area as kids - the disappearance of Noah Bellamy didn’t go unnoticed by Tristian. At the time, he wasn’t fully aware of his disappearance, but when he grew older, the articles on Noah caught his attention. He found every article online and in newspaper clippings to get as much information about him as possible. Only because he needed to know if the kid was found and survived, and he had. Putting his hands up slightly in defense, he grinned. “Fair enough.” He said and remained silent, allowing the other to his job. The quicker he was able to do so - the quicker Tristian can leave and go home to cook.
Though at the other’s question, he looked between his eyes and contemplated in the answer for a few long seconds. “I like to know everything I can about my city and other things. I found an old news article about you a few months back. They had your photo of when you were younger - you still kind of look the same.” He answered truthfully. “We are the same age, and I thought if that ever happened to me…or my sister.” He shrugged, shaking his head. “I recognized you, but your name on the building did help put it all together.”
.
It would make him perhaps one of the more popularly known, cult cases of the area. He was for a time one of the most said names on the lips of people. Though it had been some years since those days. He did not particularly want to remember them. Noah blinked, however, as Tristain spoke on the matter anyway. Seeming to not understand the social ques to tread lightly on such matters, especially to the victims. Noah had been through a lot of therapy to forget about those years he was gone.
So this man wanted to know more about his city, did he? Noah squint a bit, scrutinizing a little before he gave a small nod "Okay." At the comparison to himself as a child, he scrunched his face a little, trying to imagine what that was that made him familiar to himself as child. Though he shook his head "Not really a time I personally remember, actually." Lifting up a knife from the cutting board then, he brought it toward his head before moving it back to the counter behind him. Then finished with Tristian's order.
At the reveal that they were the same age he turned his head slightly "Are we?" What a coincidence, Noah found himself thinking then. As Tristian spoke on he grinned "I don't think that guy specifically was looking for anyone else." Though what he could remember was children taunting him for being in that predicament to begin with, throughout his school days. Noah swallowed "Though who can tell when a crazy person is taking kids, what kid they want..." Pushing the wine over toward Tristian he frowned.
"I guess that doesn't help me trying to hide from that fact if someone happens a upon the news of it, or take a special interest in local crimes." Noah reasoned with a shrug. He couldn't go back in time and stop anyone from doing their reports. But he had more or less been left alone, himself, since the incident happened. Noah had faded more or less into obscurity. Which he had needed in order to avoid too much attention, and perhaps the accidental discovery of what he was really up to.

Noah was standing in the sea side restaurant, listening to some volunteer go on and on and on about the Valentine’s day festival going on at that moment. Apparently he had accidentally walked in on a cooking competition like event. Being pulled over to a table by the volunteer he glared at them before fronting them a moment, making them frightfully pull away from him and apologize to him.
Though it wasn’t till he had seen who he was paired with that he put on a bit of a smile “Oh! You again.” He commented before the smile fell off his face. Looking toward the table of fruits and other assortments for making a meal he frowned “I didn’t expect to see you so soon, or at all in such a situation.” Noah muttered then before reaching over to grab a knife “ You any good at cooking?” He asked Elaine then.
Grabbing some ingredients that needed chopping for the most part. Bringing them over to the cutting board in front of them and began to chop.
