Edit: this ran its course in that i apologised for the type of friend i was at 16, she was grateful and healed, she did not give me either of those things in return so i did not answer

I am sorry for my misgivings, but I also recognise that neither you nor I were a victim of what was a wonderful girlhood friendship but that had the flaws of any friendship at that age. i deserve people in my life that are as reflective as i am to them, that go out of their way to reflect on how they could have shown up for me as i do for them, who apologise loudly because they love me and we are flawed. I do not need someone who always does right by me, but I do need someone who is willing to give me the reflection back instead of drinking mine up like a vampire and moving on.

i had hoped when you left it was a fluke of personality, that I had done the damage to make you do that and that I could win you back with enough sincerity. i did not deserve to carry that weight for 10 years and i’m sorry to myself for doing it so. it turns out you left because you are the worst version of the person i thought you could be: selfish, unreflective and unsentimental.

I don’t usually reblog these days but not sure if this is making the news in the US. There has been a meningitis outbreak at the university in Kent, a county bordering London that some of my colleagues live in. People have died. I had thought meningitis had been eradicated. My colleague said they only recently started requiring them for children, so the adult population is still vulnerable.

This is unfortunately a very real threat so def get your kids vaccinated even if it isnt required if you can afford it
