ICY BLUE IRISES CONDEMN the other with a glare. Almost wishing she didn’t miss the annoyingly handsome face the moment he laid his mantle out there. The title belonged to an important figure in her past , an important figure to her brother who lost his life. And now someone is staking claim to the mantle ? That didn’t settle well Becky. Advancing forward , closing the distance to a close proximity as she reached fro the knife’s handle , but she didn’t let go.❝ alright, handsome enlighten me , what gives you the right to call yourself CAPTAIN ? ❞ she completely disregarded his last set of information as her mind had a focal point , a one track railing as her temper flared.
---
When she began walking towards him, James’ hand flexed. He only went for his shield when her hand went for the knife in the wall. Within the blink of an eye, he had his shield out and held in front of him defensively. Luckily, his father hadn’t taken it from him. He loved his energy shield, but this one was more personal and reliable. “I’m his son. It’s my legacy,” he claimed. “What business is it of yours?”
ABANDONED AND STANDING TALL . the warehouse she made herself comfortable in felt like the perfect place for solitude. fingers glide along the blade of a silver lined black pocket knife . there’s something special about this one in particular , she hardly ever used it , only when it required a permanent erasure of her target. such situations were bred from a dire one. oceanic spheres fly open at the sound of the handle rattling from the other side. sliding the pocket knife away , she grabbed one that’s more disposable.
the second a head emerged from the door way , two knives darted in their direction , one after the other. stance aggressive and ready for another strike or going forward in physical combat.
❝ i’d leave if i were you , next time i’ll go for somethin’ you can’t live without. ❞ be it an artery or a direct aim for the heart ; becky will do whatever is necessary to protect herself. it’s always been her against the world.
James didn’t have to go back to the warehouse anymore, but after a long night of crime-fighting (something he wasn’t technically supposed to be doing anymore), he needed a place to rest and get himself composed. The warehouse was the perfect place, he hadn’t shown it to anyone, yet, though he’d told his dad where he’d been staying before the compound.
He’d arrived with the idea of heading upstairs to sleep for a few hours before getting a shower at the nearby gym. But, he was met with the surprise of a knife just mere inches from his face. He blinked a few times, trying to register it.
Once he did, he turned to face the (kinda hot) girl and her threat. “Do you have any idea who you’re talking to?” he asked as he puffed his chest out a little. “I’m Captain America, and this place? It’s mine. I have a bed upstairs.”
The fight had sucked the life out of Steve. Ready to sacrifice his own life, winning was definitely something he didn’t expect, or at least expect himself to be alive to see it. So naturally after, seeing all his friends and loved ones back, he wanted to really just rest. Still he would be restless if he didn’t so he went to check on everyone he could, and the first one had been James.
“Son.” He says as he knocks gently on James’ door.
James had been trying to get through a paper due for his final grade when the knock interrupted him. He snapped the book shut and tossed it aside so he could roll out of bed and quickly open it. He’d been around his father for a few months now, but he had his doubts he’d ever get used to the other being able to visit his room and having the freedom to talk to him.
“Hey, uh, come on in. I was just studying,” he admitted as he stepped aside. “Ignore the mess, I sorta forgot to clean,” he added as he moved to grab a few stray articles of clothing off the ground to toss into his basket.
“have you told them yet?” bruce asked with a raised brow. james had just explained to him who he was. bruce was confused, his natasha –– well the natasha of this earth couldn’t have kids, that much he knew.
the man sat down for a moment as he thought about it. “and what do you need from me? a way to get back to your earth? listen kid i just figured out time travel, dimension travel is going to take a bit.”
James narrowed his eyes at the question. “Dad knows,” he confirmed. “Or... Steve. I don’t know if he’s okay with the whole dad thing,” he admitted. Though, it was definitely weird not calling them their parental terms. He rested his arms against the table and pursed his lips. “I need to get back, yeah... I don’t know if I want to go back, though,” he admitted. He was building a life here. He had his parents (kind of), he was in school, he wasn’t on the run or rebuilding a dead planet.
