Really extended vacations weren’t really what Peter expected for his life in super heroics. It didn’t change anything about how much he wanted to wear the Spidey mask or save New York (and sometimes the world), Peter was still a little shaken by the whole ‘dead for five years’ thing. Who could blame him? It was totally disconcerting and the Earth wasn’t exactly in the best shape when he returned. He’d work on helping with that later, he guessed.
For now, Peter was just happy to be around MJ. It was a band aid fix, but Peter was fine with that for now. Band aids did the job for him with his accelerated healing anyway! Aunt May would not be happy to hear that, he mused.
“How’d that happen?” Peter asked, raising his eyebrows. He also never expected that he’d pull MJ so deeply into this superhero world that she’d end up joining an Avengers team, but… maybe he should have, on second thought. “I’m proud of you,” he added hastily, pulling MJ in for a hug. “Just kinda want a few more details here!”
CALL IT A PREMATURE MID-LIFE CRISIS , but she wanted to do more and what better way to get involved. and it got to the point where everything else felt too minuscule. but while the world itself felt like it was going crazy , his arms always seeped with that comfort that had Michelle experience a moment of jitters. that quickened heartbeat , butterfly thing. she’s pretty sure that the cause of that would be the person that everyone else wanted in their orbit. her BEST friend .
‘hugging him tightly seeing also always made her day lighter -- even though admitting that would probably result in her saying something completely different. conveying warm and fuzzy feelings weren’t exactly her forte -- but she tries. opening up to peter was never the issue.
“ i don’t know , luck -- maybe ? “ she laughed and only pulled slightly from him , “ i love hearing you say that ,” she confessed. “ how about we go back to my place ? i’ll order pizza. i’ll answer your questions and we can have a little celebration. it’s a win-win.
