“The fuck you lookin’ at?”
“Admiring your charm.”
miguelscabello:
“I wouldn’t drink that if I were you,” Miguel said, sliding into the seat beside them. “I just saw the bartender spit in your drink.”
“I think that’s his version of a cherry on top. Do you want some?”
“Those ponies were the fucking worst. They shit everywhere and the only good thing about them was that one of them ate the cake and Allison cried.”
“Those poor ponies must have been shitting pink for weeks.”
“So when you said party tonight, I thought you meant an actual party. Like, that girl is knitting in the corner, fucking knitting.”
“Make fun all you want, but that right there is the smart one at the party. She’s knitting herself a noose so she can put herself out of this misery. The party Allison Taylor threw in the fourth grade was more entertaining than this. At least she had free pony rides.”Â
It was easy for Ace to find the liquor in Kate’s room. A few half-filled bottled were strewn on her bedside table and dresser, so he piled up as many as he could in his free arm before going into the fort to get himself and the pup settled. “Jesus!” he exclaimed as she shoved the food practically into his face but he took the tray anyway so the blonde could join him. Blue’s head perked at the sight of the pizza but Ace knew better than to feed Mini’s dog something without her permission. “Who knew you were so domestic?” he teased as she settled in beside him and he moved the liquor bottles between them so she could see them. “Here. Pick our poison.”
“It’s one of my biggest kept secrets, so don’t go around telling it to everyone.” Mini brought a finger to the middle of her lips for emphasis. Green eyes took in the assortment of bottles that Ace had brought into the room for them, even with the dim lighting of the twinkling tea lights, she could see enough to make out the names of each one. “Is that even a question you have ask anymore?” She said as she reached for the half empty bottle of tequila. It had been her drink of choice since she first got a taste of liquor, strong and quick to do it’s job, liquid fire to her insides. A part of her wondered if such a thing like alcoholism was passed down through genetics, or if it was simply factored by one’s surroundings. Whichever the case, Mini knew she was fucked either way. She reached for one of the bottles of juice that was on the tray, taking a sip from it before mixing in some tequila then handed the bottle back to Ace. “So, what have you been up to lately? I feel like I haven’t really seen you around as much.”
“If I gave you three raises, you’d own this place.”
“I think now you’re exaggerating.”Â
“Most dogs are cute, but I’m sure she’d try to run away if someone tried to grab her. Are you sure you don’t want any help? I’ll walk the neighborhood with you.”
“Unfortunately, my Blue is a little too trusting and is always eager to walk up to strangers─are you sure you wouldn’t mind helping? I don’t want to pull you away from your plans.”
“I know,” Jordan laughed, “I’m just so helpless and dumb. Pretty pitiful, actually.”Â
“I don’t know, but I guess I’ll just have to find out,” Jordan said with a shrug. He followed the other’s lead towards the door, pleasantly surprised at the change in the other’s demeanor, “I’m hoping this help is in no way correlated to that thing you said earlier about fingers in butts,” Jordan replied pleasantly, “like, if we’re being optimistic, food is going to be involved. But you know, I’ll let you decide since you’re being the gracious sinner here.”Â
“I can see that. In fact, so pitiful that if you keep this up, soon it’ll be you that Sarah McLachlan uses in one of her videos to get people to donate to whatever cause she’s preaching about. I’ll have pictures of your sad eyes while In The Eyes of an Angel plays softly in the background.”
Mini waited until he had stepped outside, following after him and closing the door behind her, making sure to give the handle a couple of tugs to double check it was safely locked now. “Hey, as I said earlier, I’m not going to be the one to help you discover your prostate. If you want to tickle your asshole that’s going to be something that you do all on your own, on your own time.” Her tone was kept steady, a dulcet pitch despite the crudeness of her words. She stopped to put the keys into the back pocket of her jeans and began to walk down the streets, no direction in mind as of yet. “Okay, deal, but if I decide then it’s going to be your treat.”
“Your teenage angst hasn’t reached those levels yet?” He asked curiously, but smiling at the end at his realization. “You’re in high school?” He asked. “Not that there’s anything wrong with that of course. I just didn’t know kids in high school nowadays knew about Dashboard Confessional.”
“You are aware that there are two more years post high school in which a person is usually almost in their teens?. I could be a sophomore in college for all of you know, I just didn’t say in which teens I was.” She kept  a serious face for two seconds before laughing. She always got the same reaction, people surprised to hear she was still in high school. “High school kids don’t know about Dashboard, but you’ll soon realize that I am one of a kind.”
“I guess I was trying to be nice about it, but yeah.. people can definitely be morons especially on the 4th of July. It’s not a problem. I hope you find her. I’m sure she’s okay, probably just hiding out until some of the craziness dies down.”
“I’m hoping you’re right, but she’s a cute dog, I’m also worried about somebody just taking her. She could easily fit into someone’s purse.”Â
Ace wasn’t very good at taking care of things. He had a cat for a few weeks but the thing ran away and for a good reason. Blue was different. She was basically a Saint so Ace welcomed the puppy with open arms and pressed a kiss between her ears. “Yeah. Just yell if you need anything,” he assured her as he ascended the stairs with the dog, taking her to Mini’s fort room before going on the hunt for alcohol.
“Yeah yeah, I’ll be upstairs just as soon as this pizza is done, ten minutes top.” Mini was already pulling the pizza out of the freezer when she called out to him, her voice traveling through the old house in way of the vents. Cranking the oven up to it’s highest temperature, she slide the pizza inside, ignoring the preheating directions as they always did. She busied herself collecting things from the kitchen, a couple bottles of mango juice, a bag of chips, sour candies, and the half eaten carton of cookies that had been left over from her breakfast. “Food drop, coming in!” She called out to him as she made her way up the stairs and stopped outside of the room that had been transformed into their own personal save haven. Mini bent over and pushed aside the blankets that covered the hole that served as a door, pushing the serving tray of food first, “here, take this so I can come inside.”Â
“That’s why you’re fucking scary,” he concluded, pointing a finger out to her as they began down her block. Ace allowed Mini to run ahead and open the door but he made sure to secure it once he was inside of the home. “You make the pizza, I’ll get the drinks. Where’s Kate keeping her stash these days?”
“We’re in my house and you’re telling me what to do? You’re such a guy.” Mini gave a playful roll of her eyes before stepping inside. The instant her foot crossed the threshold, a small white dog came running towards her. “Blue! Come’ere, girl.” She bent down to scoop up the dog in her arms and turned to Ace, petting her dog between her ears before handing her over to Ace. “She doesn’t stash it, there’s probably some on her nightstand. Take Blue upstairs? I hate having her downstairs, she’s already ran off once this week.”Â
