Irredeemable || Lukas & Reina
She ignored the mans words as he spouted out some form of nonsense or another. The shorter man seemed to be frightened at first then curious, and she didnât care for the borderline uncaring look he had. She took a breath at at least appear calm, though she wasnât letting this man think he was off the hook for destroying her precious samples.
âFirst and foremost you crossed private property and broke into an orchard! As long as people donât steal, I usually donât care. But MOST IMPORTANTLYâŚâ She walked up up the man and shot her arm back, pointing to the obvious plot of plants growing with messy footprints and a clear disregard for the life in the soil. Many of the plants were uprooted and damaged.
âYOU ENDED UP RUINING MY EXPERIMENT BUSTER! You arenât leaving until you replant every single survivor and pay for damages! Do you hear me?â Reina said, the only offer she was planning on giving him.
âHuh?â Lukas looked around, at least slightly befuddled. Private property? He hadnât been able to tell. The people here just let things grow haphazardly. How was that his fault? Her voice got louder and louder, though, and he wasnât sure he was capable of arguing with her. It was only when she mentioned retribution that he chose to fight back. âYou canât be expecting me to get down in the dirt and piece back together this poor attempt at a farm! It isnât my fault that you donât know how to build proper fences with all these trees!â
Okay, sure, that was a poor argument, but Lukas really didnât want to waste his day helping her for no pay. Even if she had offered to pay him, this was the last thing he enjoyed doing. It hadnât quite clicked that if he had gone to the mayor at this point, she probably would have followed him there. Right now, all he could process was that this girl was downright livid. The obvious response to that was denial and aggression. Because that made sense. âWhy would I waste my time on a stranger? Iâve got better things to do than involuntary charity work.â
