Today I will take the N5 exam!
I admit, due to some life troubles, I don’t feel as confident as I wanted to feel—but I am excited to do this exam and see where I’m at with my learning progress.
I think that sometimes even if you’re unprepared, even if you don’t feel fully like you’ll pass it’s good to continue anyway and test yourself—even if I don’t pass, I’m still going to take things away from todays experience!
Anyway, time for registration! Wish me luck!!

[Days Until my N5 Exam: 97]
No time for neat notes anymore. I have a set time frame to get myself to a set standard! Right now, I’m working on my kanji memorisation.
I’m using Kanji: look and learn to teach myself the kanji needed for N5. So far I’m just relearning ones I’ve known for a long time. 48 so far.
11 June 21—More practice today! I don’t really have much to comment on, honestly. I’m just enjoying myself as I plod along.
10 Jun 21—I did a lot of study today! I makes me happy to be able to put sentences together, even if they are still quite simple!

09 June 21—I’ve been using the 日本語総まとめN5 textbook for a few days now and I’ve got to say I’m enjoying the structure of it!
I must admit it works better as a revision tool than for initial learning but the exercises included are very good for remembering kanji readings and when to use onyomi/kunyomi!
08 June 21—I realised that I haven’t shared my neat notes I keep when learning Japanese and only ever put up my workbook exercises and quick hand.
This is my kanji book! I update it whenever I come across new kanji for ease of reference! So far there are 317 included!! 😊
I’ve been considering highlighting which kanji are seen at N5-N1 with various colours but I’m a little hesitant! What does everyone think?
07 Jun 21—Practicing verb conjugations this morning and writing them up in neat while I wait for my new textbook to arrive! I’ll be working between Genki and Nihongo so-Matome N5 for the forseeable future!
Unfortunately the JLPT tests for my country have been cancelled until next July but I will continue studying regardless!!
20 May 21—Finished the chapter’s grammar section today! I’m excited to start putting it all into practise tomorrow.
19 May 21—Learning new grammar today! I’m enjoying learning about how to write things in different tenses.
14 May 21—Today I reached a new chapter in my textbook. I like writing out the dialogue into my workbook to practice all the kanji that is included!
Time to work on widening my vocabulary!
13 May 21—I decided to make a chart with the most common radicals we see in Japanese as a way of memorising and recapping. And to help me break down more complex kanji as I come across them.
I want to start journalling in Japanese but I’m scared I don’t have a large enough vocabulary right now for it to be an efficient way of studying...

It is! I spend a lot of time writing things by hand so through mass repetition it’s become neater over time! I’m sure if you do the same, yours will improve as well!!

12 May 21—No more going easy on myself by writing long form hiragana out. Today I’m going to begin substituting in the kanji that I know into sentences. I can’t let myself be scared by stroke orders and complex kanji!
11th May 21 - Today I made the lists for the main kanji that show up at N5! I know a lot of these already, which is a visible sign of progress!!
[09/100 Days of Productivity] 14 Apr 2021—I missed updating yesterday because I was so tired after travelling. Even though I did a little studying, I don’t think it’s enough to count it as a day of learning.
Today I learned more grammar and did some more practice of verb conjugations! I’m not going as quickly with Genki’s chapter 3 as I had with chapters 1&2 but I think that’s helping make sure I learn all the vocabulary more thoroughly.

[08/100 Days of Productivity] 12 Apr 2021—Today was a busy day with a lot of travelling so I didn’t get as much Japanese studied as I wanted to! Either way, from 9pm until 11pm I did a quick study session :3
