According to new studies on Dinkinesh and its binary moon, we might finally know more about how this strange mini-system formed.
The newest suggestion states that Dinky itself spawned the contact-binary dubbed Selam, which now orbits the main body like a moon. Due to spinning too rapidly, young Dinky lost some of the lose material on its surface, which then formed into Selam.
