“Snarky’s kind of my default setting, if you want anything else you’ll just have to figure out how to not make it so easy for me.” Sighing, he moved to rest his chin in his hand, waving his other in the air, urging her to continue. “By all means, I’d been looking for some material to put me to sleep with.”

At first, with Seven's words Dani couldn't fight a touch of amusement; the man's snarkiness was something he'd determined drew him to Seven. And not in a romantic way, it was more that the man's snark, his combined sincerity and honesty, it all just made Seven seem more like family than anything. They hadn't know each other long but that didn't change the feel of a familial connection that Dani indeed felt.

"Well, in all honest, our first meeting was relatively casual," Dani confessed, "We got to know each other, you know, that whole thing. And then the next night he wound up at my doorstep, bloodied and beaten... I couldn't very well have left him there. He'd gotten lost on his way home and whoever took him, did some rather terrible things to him. I fixed him up."

Abby could feel a flush in her cheeks and hoped the blush wasn’t obvious. She brought her hand up to her mouth and chewed her finger as her smile seemed to only grow. “I had no room to place any kind of judgement on you. You accepted me even before you knew what I could do and the extent of my ability, before you even knew you were immune. Plus you helped fix me up when I had the snot beat out of me.”

"I had a bloodied man on my doorstep, I couldn't very have left you there," Dani confessed with a tap to his temple for what reason he was unsure, "I've trusted you since pretty much the beginning, not sure what it was, to be honest, but I like how things are turning out." From the marriage, even if it was temporary, to the current situation - it all seemed to bring them closer.

“I haven’t heard any news about the joining of the two sides, but I suppose that’s not for the field agents to hear about. It sounds like a real interesting pairing, it will be exciting to see how it all pans out.” She smiled warmly at Dani. Though this was their first time meeting with one another, Dev felt a natural connection with the guy, as if the two had been friends all along.

"I do hope things turn out well with such a merger," Dani smile warmly as he spoke. He was astonished at his comfort around Dev, from her casual acceptance of what he was to her ease of conversation. It was all very refreshing, only a few agents had gotten him so comfortable so quickly and that was mostly Abel and Seven, if he were to be honest.

She took a drag off her cig and thought for a moment before blowing a stream of smoke from the corner of her mouth. “Do the X-Men occasionally team up with S.H.I.E.L.D. or do they stick with their own thing?” She asked.

"Normally yes," Dani confessed, "This working with SHIELD thing, the Mutant Affairs Division is all relatively new business for both sides." That much Dani was positive about, it was a big to-do when all the suggestions first came into play.

“You’re married to this guy for a month, and the best you can say is you ‘get along quite well’? You guys are going to be the most boring couple in the office. Congrats, might even be able to get you a plaque saying that and hang it up where everyone can see it.”

"Well, if you're going to get all snarky," Dani eyed him, making a face, "Shall I go into further detail about the circumstances of mine and Abel's meeting? And before you even go there, no, we have not had sex." He had been playing down the relationship, there truly was not anyone else he'd be comfortable in such a situation. And then there were the growing feelings for Abel, not that he fully understood those yet.

Dev pulled out a cigarette, stuck it between her lips, and struck a match. “If you’re referring to the incident that occurred with Loki, that was before I was a full fledged agent, so I’m not aware of the full details. Banner, Rogers and the rest don’t speak much about what happened, and I try not to bug them about it.”

"It was definitely before my time with SHIELD as well, but the X-Men are relatively in the loop about that sort of stuff," Dani shrugged some watching her light the cigarette.

Sensing that perhaps she was getting a bit too personal with this particular subject for a guy she just met, she nodded again, smiling warmly and looking off. “Well, that’s good at least…” A soft cough escaped as she cleared her throat, moving to change the subject. “So, uh,” she searched for any topic in her brain frantically, “what do you do for a living?”

"Currently I'm a public advocate of sorts," Dani explained with a relaxed smile, he was comfortable with the woman but not enough to give the details of his ability just yet. "Press, public awareness, etc."

“Hey, so far so good my man.” She gave him a wink of her own and smiled. “Working with S.H.I.E.L.D. has shown me there are far more possibilities in this world than I could have ever imagined. It’s incredible what you experience in this line of work.”

"That's fair enough," Dani saluted, amused as he laughed, "What with all these alien invasions, underground regimes and mutants fluttering about." His tone was nothing but jest as he resumed smiling.
