she watches mirjam speak eloquent, beautiful things, and wonders why she wastes them on the blade of the sword;; the throats of men that would never never say anything half as articulate. why waste beauty on the ungrateful? her spine straightens a bit as she remembers herself, teeth loosening from their grip on her lower lip. “believe you me, i know more than a bit about having blood on your conscience. especially the blood your country. my sister has made many a foolish decision — though i should not speak ill of my own queen, nor my blood — and i have watched our people suffer for them. after losing so many lives, and facing the imminency of war, it seems only fair the nations of this world are given time to collect themselves. when two knights duel, it is only customary to abide by your code of morals. there is no HONOR in an unfair fight.”
the girl is more sensible than mirjam had first given her credit for - she oft forms snap opinions in a moment based far too much on the appearance of the person before her. “i did not intend to offend, miss, and i do apologize if i have,” it is genuine, as all things the queens says are. to waste time on mistruths would be foolish, and foolishness is something mirjam sees no point in. “is it honorable to lull those about you, in positions of power, into a false sense of safety? i do not see it so. the words being shared in this place are hollow of truth and will surely be cross’d should one even slightly fault the other.”
