Hello, I’m Mirlo :)

you ever read diary of a madman by Nikolai Gogol? This is like that but it’s diary of a madwoman and instead of talking dogs and Spanish throne disputes I have a lot of random interests and here they are!

Music: I’m getting my phd in music composition! My undergrad and masters were in flute performance and one thing I love doing in my compositions is exploring extended techniques. I also write a lot of music with a loose narrative and would love to do soundtracks for video games or indie films someday

Creative writing: I love combining creative writing with my music. I wrote a short story about a robot and then I wrote a soundtrack for it, it’s so much fun

Literature: especially Latin American magical realism and Slavic lot of the 1800s (Dostoevsky and Gogol my beloveds)— I also really like reading contemporary literature

Horror Genre: horror is such a broad genre that it doesn’t really feel accurate to put it all under one umbrella, but I also like enough “versions” of the horror genre that I don’t want to narrow it down lol

Favorite books: The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky, Penguin Highway by Tomihiko Morimi, The Houseguest by Amparo Dávila, Pedro Páramo by Juan Rulfo, Vladivostok Circus by Elisa Shua Dusapin, Demons by Fyodor Dostoevsky

Favorite movies: Cornetto Trilogy :), Red Curtain Trilogy, Longlegs, Nosferatu 2024, Ratatouille, Mission Impossible(s), Tigers are not afraid, Young Frankenstein, Nightmare Before Christmas, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Possum

Favorite shows: Bob’s Burgers, Bungo Stray Dogs, Spaced (1999), The Simpsons, The Office, Mystery Science Theater 3000, Severance (2022)
