did you know that the reason dodo birds are considered "dumb birds" isn't due to brain size or volume? their brains are completely proportional to their bodies. according to paleontologist Eugenia Gold, the dodo would be about as smart as the common pigeon. pigeons are also smarter than they're commonly perceived- they were trained to carry messages during wars.

the reason dodos have a reputation for stupidity is because they had no fear of humans, which made them easy prey.
