I've finally sat down and started Clair Obscur, and 10 hours later... everybody was right, this game is a true masterpiece!! The visuals are insane, the music... THE MUSIC!!!!!

i feel like a lot of people underestimate/undermine cloud’s intentionality when it comes to his relationship with aerith.

he is not just coasting by the entire time he’s with aerith, he’s not being dragged along by force, he’s very much an active participant in their relationship.

whether that be by actions or words, the games show us this. multiple times.

Cloud literally only ever jokes around with Aerith and no one else. the chocobo race announcer joke they have together is one of my favorite moments in the games ever because you can see Cloud literally let down his guard and be a dork with her!

i love that chocobo race scene because it’s a nice juxtaposition between what he has with his other dates (yuffie and tifa, if i remember correctly)! with yuffie it always seems like he’s babysitting her, and with tifa there’s an air of awkwardness that often makes their scenes a bit more…stale, for lack of a better word.

it’s fun seeing cloud be a bit more of a jokester with aerith, which we do get a lot!
