Weiss' eyes widened. She was speechless, unable to convey the tumult of emotions within her. Finally, she managed to quietly utter something. "You...you'd really want to be a parental figure to me?"

Exclusive starter for @mirroringmoon!
Dark pink-hued irises would scan the bustling minglers that occupied the Schnee Manor ballroom, an aura of permanent pretentiousness was in the air whilst harmonious strings from violins prompted ball-goers to sway and twirl at the room's center.
It was a scene that Harriet couldn't help but feel slightly out of place in, her AceOps uniform an eyesore amongst the various colored tuxedos and ball gowns that littered the venue in question; a natural jock type for as long as she could ever remember, the speedster never once had considered herself the dress type... she didn't even attend the Vytal Festival Ball when she was still in the academy.
Nevertheless, her eyes would eventually settle on what they had been searching for amidst the sea of 'charitable' attendees; on the opposite end of the hall, the soldier would catch sight of a familiar figure adorned with an entrancing ball gown; as if hypnotized by the spectacle, the hare would snake her way through the various nobodies until finally emerging at her desired location.
It proved even more beautiful a sight up close, the back of the heiress' hourglass figure elegantly holding a glass of Chardonnay... it was enough to get Harriet's heart rate just a little elevated, taking the leap, she would reach forward and gently tap the woman on the shoulder.
"May I have this dance?" the operative would flash a subtly loving smile, her fingerless-gloved palm extended outward in invitation; even with her training and expertise, it was occasionally difficult for even Harriet to hide the secret relationship that the two had been sharing over the past year; fortunately for this particular instance with the ever judging eyes of Jacques Schnee looming over the event, the hare was able to maintain her cool even as those gorgeous orbs of blue locked onto her orbs of pink.
Returning the subtle smile, Weiss nodded. She sipped until her glass was empty before setting it down and gave a little curtsy before taking the familiar hand offered. Truth be told, she was feeling a bit tipsy since she had been using the alcohol as an attempt to entertain herself from this otherwise gaudy event.
This wasn’t the first time they’d publicly danced together, though those occasions were rare enough that her father never suspected anything beyond polite twirling. It thrilled Weiss to think about how Jacques would react if he found out what they’ve done behind closed doors. But that was a thought more than anything else for now; it was too risky to be caught now.
Clinging close to her partner, Weiss whispered, “I’m glad you could make it. I wasn’t sure if you were able to come after your latest mission.” She missed Harriet, so feeling a bit bold, quickly ran a gloved hand down her back.
Brushing her tail aside to press the white fabric of her overcoat closer up against her lips to avoid breathing in as much of the acrid black smoke as possible, attempts would be made to limit her overall breathing as well. It was unfortunate … but it was the price one such as she would pay for having senses that were far more acute when compared to others. The nearby smells of burning lumber, charcoal, fabric and more was nearly causing her nose to scrunch up in disgust. The burning sensation of embers traveling down her throat into her lungs making her want to cough them back out. Yet, the huntress remained steadfast in her silence. As her training had taught her how to wield the resolve needed to avoid succumbing to her faults for a time.
Positioning herself lower towards the flooring to avoid breathing in as much of the toxins around her great care would be taken to avoid stepping over the rubble and giving her positioning away. With her eyes closed to avoid having anything in the smoke blind her, she was navigating and orientating herself via sound alone.
Her ears perked upright as she took in the sounds of furniture crashing down to the floor, flames licking away at lumber, collapsing infrastructure … and the sounds of those in dire need. Those that had been unable to escape the initial attack as others had. Eyelids tightening as she fought the urge to immediately render aid to those her ears were able to detect but … the sound of furniture being kicked and pushed aside made it clear that the attackers were still present. They were searching for something by the sound of it … no, they were searching for someone. Who? Who could possibly have been worth all this trouble, all of this risk? While her initial suspicions drifted to the General any two bit thug smart enough to read knew very well that Ironwood’s protection was incredibly difficult to overcome … even if Blake herself wasn’t around.
Even then, considering his position in leadership overall the attention an attack on General Ironwood would bring would immediately summon forth the entirety of Atlas’s military might on any lowly gang seeking clout by his capture. So no matter what the reason, clout, or payout might have been the risk simply wasn’t worth the consequences that would follow suite.
Pressing her body up against a wall to remain unseen and inaudible it went without saying that Blake herself as the intended target was also out of the question. She had been around long enough to prove that she could handle anything or anyone any of Atlas’s criminal gangs had to throw at her. In fact, usually a challenge to her was a welcomed sight. No matter the number or the means. Her pleasure in fighting a well documented fact in the Underworld. A detail of her personality that discouraged the curious and the wise.
Crouching down, peeking her head forward with the length of her tail stretched out and laid bare across the ground what she was doing was certainly a risk considering she would be left helpless if her tail were to be grabbed, tugged, or even stepped on … but it was one she needed to take. Given the sensitivity of her appendage she could feel the ambient vibrations of the happenings taking place around her through her tail. Hard as it was to distinguish their footsteps amidst the chaos … in a few seconds she was able to do so alongside the muffled sounds of their voices thanks to the aid of her ears working in tandem with her tail like sonar.
Schnee? Had she heard that name right? There was a schnee here? A member of the wealthiest dust mining corporation not just inside the walls of Atlas but throughout all of Remnant had actually descended down from their gilded palace to Mantle? Strange as it was to believe Blake was certain of one thing and knew that It couldn’t have been Winter that they were referring to. Blake knew all too well that the the elder huntress was more than capable of fending off an attack such as this. She’d have dealt with the attackers on her own by the time Blake would have arrived. It must have been another … one she would no doubt have the displeasure of meeting soon enough.
With enough information gathered to understand the situation, the half saiyan, half faunus huntress retracted her tail. Willing it’s length to coil around her waistline to keep it protected as she moved to strike. Rushing forwards towards the group, she knew that the sounds of her heels crunching wood, glass, and other rubble with each step would draw their attention to her general direction … as well as attracting their gunfire but she intended for it to be so. Making immediate use of her semblance the moment she began her sprint she slowed herself down to move behind the solid copy she had made of herself. It’s momentum and actions still persisted as it charged forwards as she had done. Kicking up off the ground her legs would be tucked upwards, closer to her abdomen as her ears picked up the sound of bullets tearing through the direction her clone had been running towards. Crossing her arms over her chest as she descended the huntress would wind up a kick with a spin before delving the tip of her shoe into a shoulder in a solid kick to one of the attackers. Causing them to drop their weapon as they were knocked aside. Momentum from the blow slamming them with force against a nearby wall.
Tucking herself into a ball to spin once before she could touch the ground she knew that she would be met with a hail storm of bullets the second she made another sound which was why the very moment in which her hands touched the flooring her semblance was invoked once more as she propelled herself away. No sooner had she left their range did their bullets tear through her solid decoy in a matter of moments. Touching down this time around behind one of the assailants she wouldn’t wait to give them the chance to turn around and fire at her. Ducking down swiftly, her left left would be brought around in a sweeping motion. Sweeping the assailant’s legs from out underneath him to bring him down to the ground with her.
Normally … she wasn’t one to gamble as loyalty wasn’t something to be expected out of criminals but she would take the chance in thinking that the last one standing wouldn’t be willing to open fire on his ally. Knowing he was near her. Still as she rose, she wouldn’t give them the time to think on the moral dilemma either. Extending her right hand outwards towards the assailant, she would extend her aura outwards. A stream of yellow tinted aura leaping outwards from her right hand. Solidifying as per her conscious command, the tip of the now gleaming blade composed solely of her aura just inches away from piercing the neck of the last one standing. Opening her eyes just a little bit to take a peek at her enemy. So … it was that one. Blake knew of her, she had even been in attendance of one of her recitals with General Ironwood albeit Blake had never felt the desire to introduce herself afterwards following her performances.
“ Move an’ inch and you’re a dead man “
Blake would stomp forwards with her left foot onto the stomach of the one below her to keep them from trying to attack while her eyes were focused ahead on the one carrying the unconscious heiress to the Schnee Dust Corporation. Blake made sure to dig her heel into him, eliciting cries of pain to both restrain him and to make sure the seriousness of her threat was conveyed. She would attack as promised if provoked.
With her ears flickering at the sound of approaching … familiar footsteps the gloved hand that had spawned her aura blade dropped. The light fading as she walked towards the assailant … just in time to catch the unconscious heiress in her own arms as an Atlassian solider emerged from the smoke and tackled him to the ground. Glancing at the unconscious heiress in her arms for only a moment, the huntress made her way back outside as paramedics, soldiers, and the wailing sirens of emergency services arrived in swarms rushing inside past her to attend to those in need.
Surrendering the heiress to emergency services as medical specialists brought out a stretcher to take her Blake turned, about to make her way back into the haze to assist with cleanup and rescue efforts before a gloved hand stopped her from moving forwards. Turning to see Ironwood at her side, his forward gesture towards the heiress was clear … he wanted her with the heiress to guard her against further attack. Blake stood silent for a moment before complying with his command, moving towards the medical carrier. Hopping on board, taking a seat near the stretcher as she watched workers begin to speedily attend to the heiress, the sight of the ruined restaurant fading away as the vessel ascended away from Mantle and back up towards Atlas.
Pain. It was the first thing Weiss felt as her consciousness slowly returned. For the most part, she felt okay...except for the fact that she realized she was currently breathing through different means than normal.
With a gasp, she opened her eyes and stared at her surroundings. There was so much white. It reminded her of the hospital she stayed at after her facial scar became a permanent mark on her.
A hospital? That was never good. What exactly happened? The last thing Weiss remembered was her father abandoning her after--
It must have been the White Fang. Those were her first thoughts, and she immediately felt shameful for thinking so afterwards. There were others who targeted the Schnee family for one reason or another, so to assume that it was the White Fang was presumptuous. She needed more information. Perhaps she could ask someone. But who?
Glancing around, Weiss' eyes landed on the only other person currently in the room with her. Or rather...in the doorway. Her back was turned, which gave Weiss a good view of the rather unusual tail on the other girl. It was clear she was a Faunus, but what kind?
It would've been rude to ask, so she decided to focus on more pressing matters. Though the other girl was beautiful, Weiss decided to remain professional. Answers first, everything else later.
She cleared her throat. "Excuse me? Who are you?" Only then did she realize Myrtenaster was nowhere to be seen. That wasn't good. Hopefully the stranger wouldn't attack her.

“That’s a good idea.” Weiss agreed, loading the route onto her own scroll. She looked it over carefully as she thought over if they needed anything. Silently, Weiss eyed the weapons, making mental notes about them. “Should we bring any extra supplies?”
“You mean you haven’t got extra anyway?”
Merlo was the type to pack extra for outings like this, mostly the main four of, food, drink, a basic medical kit and emergency Dust, she did come from family who had been in the Huntsman academy system before, so the tips she had were those she picked up from them.
“…well, I guess we could quickly get some extra for you while there’s time, you have to be prepared after all.”
"I--that's not what I--" Weiss huffed. Of course she had extra supplies. She was asking to see if her partner came prepared. In lieu of responding, she gestured to her suitcases. If nothing else, they'd have plenty of extra Dust as needed. "Unless we need anything else, I'm quite prepared."
mirroringmoon:
“I’ll definitely be here.” She glanced around the room. “Should we call everyone else? I’m sure they’ll appreciate your cooking, as usual.”
Ren considered her words. “In a few minutes. It’s not quite ready yet, and I don’t want them to just be sitting there waiting.”
"Oh. Of course." Weiss nodded, feeling a bit foolish that she hadn't realized the food was done cooking. When she was growing up, the servants of the mansion usually took care of all of that. "What's the best meal you've made and why do you consider it your best?"
mirroringmoon·:
Honestly, Weiss wasn’t even sure why she had agreed to do this. Sure she and Yang had spent time together planning the dance and even before that searching for Blake after she ran off, but she wouldn’t have thought of them as…close. Still, she convinced herself it was because she needed a distraction from her father’s insistent calls.
It was rare to find free time in the festival in between training and studying, but she supposed one night away from her usual activities wouldn’t be so bad…even if she was spending time with Yang. Her teammate had said that she’d had a surprise for her and guaranteed she’d like it, so Weiss hoped this late night escapade would be worth staying up for. Wanting to be as punctual as possible, she had arrived early and was currently looking at the various stands with interest.
Knowing Weiss, she would PROBABLY be early. Which was the other reason Yang had shown up before they were supposed to meet; since this was HER idea, she figured that it would probably be a good plan to make sure she was on Weiss’ good side, or else the other girl might decide that it wasn’t worth a night away from studying. Yang knew that SHE should probably be studying too, but she couldn’t sit still long enough to get much done, not when there was a FESTIVAL going on.
And sure enough, Yang saw the telltale shock of white hair, along with white and red outfit appear in the crowd, taking a look at the stands. A grin slipped onto Yang’s face; part of her had thought that Weiss might change her mind after all. But there she was, clearly intending to head Yang’s way, once she was finished with what she was doing.
A bright grin on her face, Yang closed the distance between them, looking over Weiss’ shoulder to see what she was looking at.
“Find anything you like?” she asked with a laugh. Their team hadn’t had much chance to check out the fair itself just yet, and it wouldn’t be dusk for a LITTLE while longer, so if Weiss wanted to look around, that was perfectly fine with Yang; she loved fairs.
Although she was startled by the sudden question and presence of Yang, she didn't show it, years of etiquette lessons kicking in. She glanced over her shoulder, hating how she had to slightly look up. Still, Weiss wouldn't ignore her friend.
"This might be silly, but...I haven't been to many festivals. In Atlas, my father would always take me to business related events. This is the first occasion I've had to really...enjoy myself."
She laughed without humor. "You probably know where all the best stands are in fairs or what events would be worth attending."

“It’s…a mystery.” Weiss replied, trying to keep the annoyance out of her voice. It wasn’t her companion’s fault. The headmaster just really enjoyed toying with them, she supposed. She turned back to her with a tight smile. “I suppose we’ll see when we get there. Shall we?”
“Let’s get going, I have a route to the location already loaded onto my Scroll, you should probably do the same.”
The bat faunus placed her Scroll away and got her weapons, a pair of combat fans forged with wind dust in the blades, they were the same as her aunt Noir’s, only there was a couple differences that may be seen during the outing.
Rather than going without her partner, Merlo waited to see if Weiss needed anything extra.
"That's a good idea." Weiss agreed, loading the route onto her own scroll. She looked it over carefully as she thought over if they needed anything. Silently, Weiss eyed the weapons, making mental notes about them. "Should we bring any extra supplies?"
mirroringmoon:
“Of course. I wouldn’t mind that.” Weiss smiled and looked around. “I can help clean unless you prefer doing that after eating.”
“I prefer to do it after eating, just so we know how much cleaning needs to be done.” He explained. “But if you wouldn’t mind helping me clean up afterwards, I certainly wouldn’t mind you doing so, either.”
"I'll definitely be here." She glanced around the room. "Should we call everyone else? I'm sure they'll appreciate your cooking, as usual."
With her furred, ebony tail occupying the ambient space around her side of the table the half faunus, half saiyan would take care to ensure that while it’s length was free to curve itself around the cushions contently the tip was resting behind her out of Ironwood’s direct line of sight that way he wouldn’t be privy to it’s motions as he tried to convince her to assume this duty. This was because in past instances such as these in which she had to consider what was being asked of her the motions of her tail tended to betray her silence as it was a reflection of her subconscious. Her true sentiments on the matter.
Further on that point, she didn’t want him to see that when he had mentioned that the Vytal Festival would be held in Vale this year the tip of her tail had perked upwards as if it had heard what Ironwood had said. Stimulated, It’s interest provoked, as was her own. The Vytal Festival was something she enjoyed, and while the appreciation of the cultures of the different kingdoms was a welcomed learning ( and culinary ) experience … it went without saying that she was always far more interested in the combat tournament. She had participated and won in some years, while in others she had abstained from participating entirely either because she had found the roster of opponents present to be lacking or because her duties as an officer interfered.
It seems as though, as a caveat to string her along on this duty her participation in the upcoming tournament was being guaranteed as he had undisclosed knowledge that the heiress to the Schnee Dust Company would be transferred from Atlas’s Academy to the one situated in the city of Vale. As a student, and as a Schnee he had expectations that regardless of her team’s intentions she would be inclined to enter … as her older sister had done so in previous years. Paving the way for Blake herself to follow along.
Finishing up what remained of her ginger tea to wash down the taste of spicy curry she wasn’t entirely decided on the matter. While it was true, she would certainly enjoy the chance to compete in the combat tournament once more who was to say whether or not this duty of her would be a hindrance to her in combat ? Was she anything like her older sister whom Blake was more acquainted with ? And could she actually hold her own in a fight ? Or would Blake be relegated to spending her time protecting the heiress rather than enjoying the thrill of combat against other trained fighters ? All were points of concern.
Eyeing the spread of dishes before her, he had certainly ordered quite a good amount of food in accordance to her known appetite. All in all, she knew that no matter the outcome she always had the option of abandoning the duty anytime she deemed it a complete waste of her time and Ironwood knew that. He knew it well. She had never hidden from him the fact that the only reason she had chosen to remain in Atlas as opposed to departing with her parents to the island nations of Menagerie was because she saw greater opportunity for self improvement the resources Atlas had to offer her as she forced her way through the ranks.
Glancing downwards towards the picture of the heiress that she had set aside at the other end of the table when she had first declined the offer she eyed the image of the girl once more before turning back to look at Ironwood. He had luck on his side, luck in that Blake had come to deem him a man of high caliber, one whose word could be trusted, a good friend. One of the few real friends she had.
“ I - “
She had been unable to finish her sentence, as the sound of an explosion reached her ears far faster than it had his. A result of her acute hearing. Eyes narrowing in response as she immediately rose from her seat right as the sounds reached him. Trying to discern it’s origin point. Ears flickered as she did her best to hone in on where the sound had emanated from as she knew that it could not have been from their current position. It had been far too muffled for to be that close to them. For If there had been any form of scuffle by the door whether it be inside or out of the restaurant she would have picked up on it easily. This ? This must have been somewhere else.
As Ironwood opened the Shoji to their booth, with his magnum drawn it wouldn’t be long at all before Blake was swiftly making her way to the source of the sound under his command. With her ears as her guide, she moved as swiftly as she could from one street to the next. Operating on her own as she tended to outpace others very easily, her current form an indiscernible mess of color at her current speed. She could entrust those she moved past to Ironwood and his guards to secure and calm the panicked crowds as calls were being made to bring in further law enforcement. With her ears finally honing in on the source, her nose would scrunch up at the ambient scent of burning timber, ashes, and the shrill scent of explosive residue. Looking downwards from her perch on up above she was able to discern the forms of four masked individuals entering the establishment after tossing in what appeared to be smoke grenades given the after effect. Another restaurant had been the intended target ? With only one of the four remaining behind to guard the open entryway while the other three entered she wouldn’t permit them the time to claim whatever it was they intended to take.
Descending by leaping off the edge she moved to incapacitate the unknown assailant standing guard on the outside the moment her heels touched down on the pavement. Wanting to catch him before he had a chance to fire his weapon and alert the other three. Rushing towards him at a breakneck pace, her extended fist would embed itself deeply into the man’s abdominal area. Causing him to spit up whatever had been in his stomach, though he would not be allowed a chance to recover as the blow was immediately followed up by Blake retracting her extended fist, grabbing his head with both hands, and bringing it crashing down on to her rising knee. The force behind the blow shattering the mask to pieces, drawing scarlet as he was left to collapse on the assortment of pavement and rubbish to be collected later on. Completely unconscious. Making use of her tail to cover her nose and sleeves to cover her mouth as a filter she entered the dense smoke.
Inside, Weiss was not doing so well. The smoke was rapidly increasing, and how sudden the explosion was hadn't given her much time to react. Of course she was alone by now, but that only worried her since there were vague silhouettes she could see moving through the flames.
Alas, Weiss could only see so much while trying to stay conscious. She didn't speak to not risk outing herself to potential threats, which was a risk in itself in case there were people searching for survivors. Unfortunately, it was getting hard to stay upright.
The silhouettes were getting closer, and the sounds of fighting outside were fading in and out. She was blinking rapidly now, trying to stay focused on something--
Something black bumped into her, and Weiss fell. The last thing she felt before losing consciousness completely was someone picking her up. She just hoped they were friend and not foe.

Weiss nodded. She walked over to the mission board and looked for their names, briefly wondering about her companion’s last name. When she found them, she turned to Merlo.
“It looks like we’re…scouting?” She finally said uncertainly. The mission details were honestly vague, which seemed to fit with Ozpin’s entire personality.
“What kind of scouting? Is it a place, person, or object?”
Even looking herself, Merlo was confused, there wasn’t much to the briefing, just a location for the two with instructions to wait upon arrival, the bat faunus looked back to Weiss, unsure what to expect or think currently.
“Hm, it really is just do the thing, so I guess if we’re ready to go…”
"It's...a mystery." Weiss replied, trying to keep the annoyance out of her voice. It wasn't her companion's fault. The headmaster just really enjoyed toying with them, she supposed. She turned back to her with a tight smile. "I suppose we'll see when we get there. Shall we?"
mirroringmoon:
“I only hope that I’ve been able to help you in some way…” Weiss quietly admitted, not realizing she had done so out loud. She smiled back then glanced at the cooking meal. “Do you need anything else?”
Ren blinked at her words. He wasn’t sure he was supposed to have heard them, and therefore he wasn’t sure if he should comment that he had. “Uh, no, I think I’m good, but thanks for your help with this. If you want to, you can stick around and keep me company though.” He offered.
"Of course. I wouldn't mind that." Weiss smiled and looked around. "I can help clean unless you prefer doing that after eating."

“Well, you’re here now, so let’s see what we’re gonna do for our mission.”
Really, Merlo could have just looked ahead and surprised Weiss, but instead, she felt waiting for her would have made it fair, and made Merlo less of someone who would either complain from the get-go about what they had or overexcited because of what they were doing being something she’d enjoy.
“Look for our last names, that’s how they tend to organise things for the board.”
So it’d Schnee & Vampir-Copil to look for.
Weiss nodded. She walked over to the mission board and looked for their names, briefly wondering about her companion's last name. When she found them, she turned to Merlo.
"It looks like we're...scouting?" She finally said uncertainly. The mission details were honestly vague, which seemed to fit with Ozpin's entire personality.

If Yang said that, she’d probably glyph her against the wall. However, Weiss decided to spare her partner and merely raised an eyebrow. Then Ruby actually mentioned her sister, and Weiss barely resisted the urge to roll her eyes. “Ruby Rose, are you insinuating that I am not cool?!”
The little Rose squeaked at the fact Weiss’ took the moment to take in that Ruby didn’t really call Weiss’ Cool. To Ruby, Weiss was Cool, but moreso in the little less areas that Ruby grew up learning. She’s the type of Cool Ruby will never level to, a higher setting.
“I never said you weren’t cool, you’re just not the Cool I can get to. You’re on a higher level than I am, and I’d be jumping the Cool-hurdles if I tried your one, besides. I don’t think I’d look nice in Blue.” Yellow? Perhaps, Rubys’ worn a fair share of Yellow in her days, often switching colors with her sister. “You’re Cool! Just, too Cool for me..!”
Weiss couldn't help smirking a bit at that. She looked at her partner fondly, aware that she was sometimes too honest with her words. "How would you describe yourself then, if not cool?"
