Something more colorful and whimsical than my usual stuff.
I wanted to do a painting to loosen up, so that’s just what I did. Thanks to Jill111 on pixabay for the beautiful original reference photo! 💛
Hey there, art and writing enthusiasts! LYR is accepting submissions for the 11th issue of its zine! If you are interested, please check out the guidelines at loveyourrebellion.org/zine-submissions
For my fellow artists and writers.
It’s been a while since I’ve drawn because I’ve been feeling really guilty about doing the things I enjoy when I’ve already committed to doing other things first, but I’ve been feeling miserable lately. So, last night I took some time for myself. These are just some quick warm-up doodles.
It’s easy to see that I’m getting rusty with my proportions/anatomy from a lack of practice (like what is even happening with the head and neck on the figure to the right?). Sigh. I need more free time.
My goal this year is to reclaim my personal time and space. I miss doing creative things just for myself.
Long time no see, everyone!
I’ve been on a bit of an art hiatus because I’ve been dealing with personal matters. I haven’t created or posted many works lately as a result. However, I do have one last piece I’d like to share with you all before the year ends.
I’m thrilled to finally showcase this illustration with you. My friend Dan (a.k.a. Crickets Make Math) commissioned me to illustrate the cover of his upcoming album, Reflection Cartography.
He envisioned a futuristic cityscape to go with his experimental/electronic style, so this was definitely a challenge for me as I have never done a project of this nature before, but I had a lot of fun and learned a lot in the process thereof. I look forward to doing more artwork like this in the future.
You can check out the album here: https://cricketsmakemath.bandcamp.com/album/reflection-cartography
Fun Facts: This piece was created by using many of the cityscape photos I took while I was in Japan. The girl in the front is actually my cousin Yui when we went to Tokyo Skytree, the second tallest building in the world. The color palette was made using a photograph of my boyfriend Shawn walking through Yokohama China Town. 😎
Timed studies - 30-45 min.
I tried a simplified approach as recommended by a friend.
Timed color studies.
Have some more WIP thumbnails
Some thumbnails for an upcoming project. I plan to do more.
I finished a WIP that was on hold forever. I ended up drawing Princess Zelda (?) in a tank top, so uh... we’ll say this is a modern AU and she happened to find and follow a stray fairy down a castle corridor or something.
I want to be a better artist. That’s why I don’t give up and keep practicing.
And yes, these are based on references. I’m not at the level where I can come up with these kids of poses on my own (YET).
This is one of my characters from an old story. Her name is Elsa Alexander 😊 No relation to Frozen, k.
Painting something cute and silly. It’s my character Saphine in an AU!
Go on and KISS DA GIRL - 🦀
Something simple from the days past.
Oh look, it’s another picture for @love-ly-prince -- I swear, I love her characters so much, I end up drawing them subconsciously.
