Eryka Caldwell is a back trans woman who was murdered by her partner in her apartment last Sunday, and the story is getting a fraction of the attention that the murder of Juniper Blessing did. The police had already been called several times about her partners violence before her murder and did nothing, and she deserves the same outrage and mourning as Juniper got, and every one of our murdered trans siblings deserves. Trans women of color are more likely to be the victims of murder than any other group of queer people, and they need our solidarity, protection and support.
Caldwell’s boyfriend, 38-year-old Jonathan Fernandez, has been charged with murder.
Her family has a gofundme, please donate to them if you can so that they can transport her back home for her funeral.

Urgent help for a cancer patient in Gaza

As I posted about earlier this month, Ahmed's dad currently needs to undergo another round of chemo.
I talked to Ahmed today about his father's condition, and I have some important updates to share.
Firstly, his father is in need of medicine that will cost $100. This is the urgent need right now, as this dosage can't be delayed for long. Ahmed has already put the money we managed to raise towards paying for his father's chemo, so he cannot use that to pay for the medicine.
His dad's chemo therapy has now been postponed to May 2nd, giving us only 5 more days to raise the cost. We are working with even less time, because right now we need to focus on the medicine.
I have updated the goal to $935 to include the cost of medicine. Ahmed's dad desperately needs this, so I hope we can raise the $100 for his medicine by the end of the day so we can focus on the chemo. I have given what I could to start us off, please do the same.
$229/935 raised in total
$20/100 for medicine
Vetting information
I will be queuing reblogs of this post, so you may see older versions with progress updates that are not up to date. Please check the reblogs in the notes for the most up to date version
In a previous update, I said that I reached out to the person managing the fundraiser for Ahmed and his dad. They told me that enough came in from fundraising sources outside of chuffed to help pay off the chemo. I have now been able to confirm this with Ahmed.
I will update once I know if there will be another round of chemo needed soon. In the meantime, Ahmed and his dad will need help affording food and medicine. Please donate if you can to help them with these expenses, and to prepare for future medical needs.

El Ojo ‘The Eye’ Island Location: Buenos Aires, Argentina
First discovered by Argentinian filmmaker Sergio Neuspiller in 2003, El Ojo is an uninhabited circular rotating floating island located within a slightly larger circular lake in the Paraná Delta in the Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. This island is constantly rotating on its own axis due to the flow of the river beneath it. The island was named because of its resemblance to an eye when viewed from above: as the island rotates within its surrounding circular lake, the eye appears to move.
