A/N: Heyyy Sorry for the late update but I’ve been busy doing some moving around. So sorry for the delay. I hope you like it.

It felt like a dream. A beautiful dream that Ram yearned for. A dream that Ram knew wouldn’t last for long. A dream that Ram knew was bond to break. Yet the memories of the dream and Y/N were what kept Ram going on with his day.
After last night, all he can think about is Y/N. Even his work couldn’t divert his attention away from Y/N’s thoughts. It was driving his fellow officers crazy that he wasn’t focused on his work today.
His mind kept travelling to Y/N’s round face that has a serene glow like the moon. Ram sometimes wonders the way her face would fit in his palms with such ease, not that he would try to something like that. Yet.
Her big lotus like eyes, that resemble the richness of honey and the gentleness of Earth. They appear intoxicating to anyone that dares to look into them.
Her plump lips that just flash her beautiful dimpled smile. A smile that you can’t even lift your eyes from. Her smile is the most beautiful thing that extends to showcasing her precious soul.
Her voluptuous body and the way she styles her saree just takes Ram's heart away. Her long hair that kiss her lower back. And last night when she had tucked her pallu away around her waist was just...it was something Ram cannot describe.
Her jewellery that seemed to look even better just because she was the one who wore them. It was like she is the one to that adds character and life to the ornaments.
Her alta cladded hands that Ram just wants to hold in his own cold ones. The soft and warm hands that seem to know what they are doing, but elegantly.
Her payal that clashes against the ground making his heart beat quicken. It was like she matched that chiming of the payal with his heart on purpose.
And her fragrance…her fragrance is sweet, yet intoxicating. Sweet like a mother’s embrace, who wants to hide you from your sorrows and pain. Intoxicating like an apsara waiting to seduce you to forget your reality. And Ram just wants to give in.
The night he spent with Y/N last night was the best memory Ram had made in awhile. A break from his day to day cruel life. He got to know a lot about her yesterday while they talked during dinner.
Spending time with Y/N, is like an escape from the harsh truth that is his reality. His job. And the brutality of it. Just being with Y/N makes him forget all about it.
It’s crazy that he has met her the day before yesterday, however there is a certain pull that he feels towards her. It makes Ram want to be in her presence.
To let lose of his pain, and break down completely, only for her to fix him and put it back.
Forget all about what how he betrays his own brothers, hands them over to vicious hands of the British Government. How he has to control his anger whenever he sees a British soldier abusing the civilians.
But alas, that escape from his reality didn’t last for much longer. And here he is back at his work standing in from of a mob of protestors.
“Lala Lajpat Rai ko azaad karo! Azaad karo!” [Release our leader, Lala Lajpat Rai!]
The mob doesn’t seem to be backing down from their demands, and had Ram not been in the place that he was, he wouldn’t have backed down either.
The fence shook violently and so did the courage of the officers stand beside him in the front lines. It was apparent that the mob wasn’t gonna back down.
Stand tall like a mountain, Ram faces the crowd fearlessly, whereas his fellow officers back up in fear as the protesters being to bang fire torches at the fence, causing fire embers to fly towards the police station.
In the background, he can hear the British officer demand for more troops to help them. Yet Ram’s focus doesn’t waver away from the angry crowd.
Just then, one of his Sikh brother throws a rock over the fence. The airborne rock precisely manages to clash with a photograph of Scott Buxton.
Watching his photograph shatter on the ground makes Ram feel smug on the inside. He couldn’t be more proud of his Sikh brother, who managed to aim so precisely.
However that pride doesn’t last for long as his British Superior begins to shout in his obnoxious voice and obnoxious accent. “Arrest that bastard!…And bring him to me!”
And it is at this moment that Ram realizes that he could’ve just stayed home, and spent the day with Y/N, maybe showing her around and getting to know him.
They say that the crash from dreams to reality is quite brutal and now Ram understands why.
Y/N L/N, the youngest daughter in her household. The Lakshmi of her parents house, the apple of her parents eye, the beloved sister of her older brother and sister, and the mischievous sister-in-law for her jijaji and bhabhi.
All her life, Y/N has been sheltered by her protective family. Being the youngest, she has also had the liberty of being able to get away with anything.
Being of progressive thoughts, her parents didn’t mourn like others when Y/N or her sister were born. Instead they celebrated their birth, going as far as proclaiming that they had been blessed with two Lakshmi in their house.
Her parents being barristers themselves, they never believed in the idea that women shouldn’t be educated. Instead, to prove the society wrong, they taught both their daughters to read and write. For her parents, both her sister and Y/N are Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Gauri.
Now both her sister and her can overcome any obstacles thrown their way by the society. Her sister is an author that spreads her thoughts of freedom, and Y/N spreads her knowledge by teaching children.
Her brother ignored any of his friends that mocked both her sister and Y/N and taught both of them to defend themselves. Where her sister wasn’t as interested as Y/N learned archery, gun shooting, and how to fight with a dagger.
Whenever their mother was busy, Y/N’s older sister helped raised her. She would sing Y/N a lullaby to put Y/N’s curious mind at rest. Her older sister was her shield from all the negativity that surrounded their relatives and the world.
Since her parents were barrister fighting for the freedom and independence of Bharat, Y/N’s childhood was surrounded by freedom fighters who would rest at their house under rouse.
The name her parents had made for themselves was enough to invoke fear in the officers minds. They wouldn’t search their house, even if they knew that the freedom fighters were in there.
Which is why, Y/N is never afraid of speaking her mind when it comes to injust the Britishers inflict on the poor citizens. And which is also why the scene in front of her is so infuriating.
A crowd is formed around a garage, and the sound of poor citizen getting whipped by a arrogant British officer, all while the British lady accompanying him stands horrified.
Breaking through the crowd, Y/N is faced with a built man in a white kurta being hit by a ruthlesd British officer. Y/N glances around and notices how everyone is boiling in anger yet no one says anything.
A yelp from the man reverts her attention back the scene in front of her. It causes her an unknown pain as the man continues to cry out in pain while the officer doesn’t stop.
A weird connection pulls her towards the man in the kurta. A connection similar to the one she felt with Ram, yet so different. A more brotherly bond towards him.
Another cry of pain and Y/N launches herself between the man and the officer. “I suggest you stop, officer.”
The officer halts his action and turns towards Y/N with scowl on his face. A mocking smirk dances on his lips as he raises his brow at her.
“And what if I don’t, brown rubbish.” The officer has the gall to say, as if that wasn’t the most racist thing.
Before the officer, Robert, even has time to react, his belt has transferred from his hands to the woman’s, in front of him. It frightens him at the speed she moves at.
A smirk tugs on Y/N’s face as she pulls at the belt, presenting it to the officer. “Call me brown rubbish once more. I dare you.”
“You’re quite cocky, aren’t you?” Robert snarls back, not wanting to lose to a lower class Indian. And that too a girl.
Y/N’s smirk just widens, and she looks directly into Robert’s eyes, as if challenging him. “Hello kettle.”
Robert grits his teeth at the woman using English proverbs to mock him. Taking a step forward, he gets right into her face. “I could have you arrested, you know.”
While the two continue to glare at each other, Bheem just watches from his spot from the ground. His body itches forward as the officer takes a step towards the woman.
The unknown woman, who Bheem feels like he must protect, like Malli. A unknown protective that he has only felt towards Malli. It was weird yet it somehow made sense.
He felt a sisterly bond to the woman who has stepped in to save him from the officer. Standing fiercely like Maa Kali in front of the officer, not even an ounce of fear or nervousness in her eyes.
It is admiring at how she radiates the aura of divinity and Shakti. She has everyone’s attention trained on her with how captivating she is in her stand-off.
Standing in front of the man, like an unmoving mountain that even the most determined winds can’t move. That even the wildest of fired can’t destroy. A mountain that even water can’t dissolve.
“Go ahead, my dear. My mother and father are barrister, you must’ve heard of them, M/N and F/N L/N.” The bengali woman says with a pleased look on her face.
The woman who accompanied Robert gasps and instantly steps forward to pull him away from Y/N. It seems that Robert understands who she is, as even he is pale.
Without saying a word, Robert turns around, his face a bright red from the embarrassment and anger from what has just transpired between him and this brown woman.
Y/N and everyone else watches as the man and the lady drive away on the motorcycle. They all let out an sigh of relief and the crowd defuses from around them.
Bheem watches as the woman’s fierce eyes dissolves into a soft warmth as soon as they land on him, like dirt in water. The woman steps forward and kneels in front of him with such grace that its impossible to believe that she is the one who made that officer run away.
He doesn’t even notice when she takes his wounded arm into her hands. But her soft voice breaks his trance, “Dada, aapko dard ho raha hai kya?” [Brother, are you in any pain?]
“Nahi, per shukriya mujhe bachane keliye.” Bheem appreciates the woman for her help. [No, but thank you for saving me.]
Y/N softly frowns at the man, and says, “Ab aap apni behen ko shukriya bologe, Dada?” [So now you’ll say thank you to your sister, brother?]
A smile tugs on Bheem’s face at her words. It’s true that she does feel like a sister to him. “Mere naam Akhtar hai, aur tum?” [My name is Akhtar, and you are?]
It kills Bheem to lie to her. An overwhelming guilt washes over him for having lied to her. And its a little unusual but not bad. But Bheem must lie to her, if not for himself, then for her own safety.
“Mera naam Y/N L/N hai.” Y/N answers him back as she helps him off the ground. [My name is Y/N L/N.]
“Tum yahan nayi aai ho na?” Bheem can tell from the accent that lingers even when she tries to speak hindi. [You’re new here, aren’t you?]
Y/N sighs and nods her head with a smile. “Ji, Dada. Hum yahan do din pehle aaye hai.” [Yes, brother. I arrived just two days ago.]
Bheem shakes his head in understanding, and then turns to her with his bright eyes. “Aaj humare saath raat ka khaana kha kar hi jao na?” [Will you have dinner with us tonight?]
Unfortunately for Bheem, Y/N just shakes her head with a grim smile. “Aaj nahi, Akhtar Dada. Lekin kisi aur din.” [Not today, Akhtar Dada. But some other day.]
Anyday, Y/N would’ve accepted Akhtar’s offer in a heartbeat, but she had to make dinner for Ram. And after last night, she enjoyed having dinner with him.
Bheem nods at her, though he is quite disheartened himself. But she said some other day, so maybe he can invite her some other time for dinner.
Soon, the two bid goodbye to each other, with Bheem reminding Y/N to take care and get home safely. Y/N, on the other hand, reminds him to apply herbs on his wounds and to take care.
The two depart with a beautiful brotherly-Sisterly bond. The bond between Water and Earth.
Y/N paces the floor, her eyes travelling to the sky and then to the front door of Ram’s house. Here she is, seated at the steps of her house, waiting for Ram to return.
It’s dark and quiet at night, with the street all empty and only lit by the moonlight and lanterns that hang from their neighbours and their houses.
Anxiety and nervousness tears at her stomach as she wonders about all the reasons Ram could be late. Even if she tries, she can’t push the dark thoughts that somehow wiggle into her brain.
What if Ram wasn’t coming home tonight? What if he was attacked by some British officer? What if he become a target of their brutality?
It was hard to keep her thoughts under control, yet she tried her best. Even her book wasn’t interesting enough to take her mind off of worrying about Ram. She can’t believe that she is worrying over a man she met two days ago, yet here she is.
Y/N can’t help it. Ram has unknowingly provided her with a sense of security and protection. It makes her feel at home. Just how she felt when she lived with her parents.
Any fears of loneliness have been driven away just by his mere presence. Any fears of anything harmful happening to her vanished just at one look at his bulging arm muscles.
Yes. She did shamelessly admired him from her kitchen last night. When he was seated on that jhula, his eyes trained on his hands, he failed to notice that she could watch him from the window.
His soft smile tugged at her heart strings, and all she wanted to do was gift him with all the happiness in this world. All she wants is to make him smile like that all the time.
His fluffy hair make her hands itch with the need to run her fingers through them. Feel how soft they are. Feel how silky they are when she runs her fingers through it. Wants to know what it feels like to give him a head massage.
His eyes…she just wants to take a dive and then continue to drown in them, without a care of the world. Never wale up from the dreams that she will be pulled into just from the magnitude of his eyes.
His tall and muscular build that looks great in suspenders but appear breathtaking whenever he wears a kurta at night. It just takes her breath away when he walks in with a kurta on.
And his fragrance. His fragrance is different from others. Its mixture of an Earthy and musk like scent that makes her head spin just from a whiff of it. And that too during the jhula incident.
He is just overall a little too handsome in Y/N’s eyes. It should be crime to look that great, even with that moustache. Actually. Especially with that moustache.
But alas, enough of this shamelessly admitting that she finds Ram handsome. It’s a topic for a different time. Maybe she should write a book on him, take a few notes and tips from her sister.
The sound of heavy boots hitting the ground is enough to pull her out of her inappropriate thoughts and onto the man that is staggering his way down the street.
Almost on instinct, she rushes forward to help this poor man. Just as she gets close enough, the man lifts his gaze from the ground and towards her.
The light from the lantern hits the man’s face and what Y/N witnesses is enough to make her gasp, and place a hand over her mouth in horror. Her eyes scan the man’s face, and she finally manages to gather the courage.
A/N: Sorry for the cringe scene between Bheem and Y/N. I need coffee right nkw.
