Mei sat down in her chair, shaking a bottle of clear polish she had gone to the back to retrieve; “Ah, my best work, now to seal the deal.” She said, laughing a bit. She looked at the person’s sudden worried look on their face which caused her to frown. Did they not like it?
“Do you not like it?” She said as she looked down at the nails she had created and noticed a dent in one of them, “Oh! Again?” She laughed, pulling out her jar of polymer power to remake the nail. “Girl, i know you’re excited, but if you keep touching them they’re going to get ugly and we’re going to have to start from zero, and i know you don’t want that!”

It was late.
Mei sighed, she had gotten home a couple of hours back and she was hungry. Definitely very hungry. She got up and peaked into the living room before heading towards the fridge.
Empty.
Of course, she hadn’t went out to buy groceries and of course she figured her roommate wouldn’t either. She stood there staring at the fridge with only a couple of items in it as if they were to magically turn into food the longer she looked at it. She turned her head to look towards Kyle’s closed door wondering if he had already eaten, well, she wanted to wonder that but to be honest all she cared about at the moment was herself eating. She closed the fridge and headed towards his door, leaning her ear against it to listen before knocking a couple times.
“If you buy me some pizza, guess who’d be the best roommate ever?”
Mei slowly opened the door and poked her head through the crack of the door, “I’ll pay you back!” She said, almost giving him sad puppy eyes, “Please, Kairu-san” She finished, saying his name with a thick Japanese accent, making sure that ‘L’ sounded like an ‘R’ as if her accent would help convince him.
The past few days had been nothing but complete chaos for Lydia. She really didn’t anticipate the storm she would bring along with her and having her heart completely ripped apart in the process. She’d avoided coming home at all costs. From the moment she left her sister’s, she was at work, throwing herself into whatever work she could do to take her mind off of it. Even though she had exchanged texts with Reggie and even spoke to him on the phone in the early hours of the morning, but the reality of it all never sank in. She was at work, she was safe from her personal life there. Even with her phone on. But it had been more than twenty four hours since she last slept and if it weren’t for one of her colleagues who drove her home now, she would still be working her ass off. Stepping into the apartment complex, stood in the lobby, the reality was starting to sink in. This, all of this was real. Her husband had slept with her sister and everything was a mess. But she needed a shower, a change of clothes, something to eat and some sleep. She had to look after herself.
Could she bring herself to walk to the elevator though? No she could not. Instead she turned around to exit the building again but she heard a voice that caught her attention. Turning around, Lydia looked at them. Her hair was tied back in a ponytail, the strands hanging loosely in positions, red rimmed under her eyelids from the tears shed before and how sore they were now. “What?” Lydia snapped a little unintentionally, immediately jumping the gun. “Never seen a girl without make up on before?” She commented as she looked at them. Taking a deep breath, she realised that the other person may not have been wanting to ask if she was alright or anything of the sort. So, she decided to ask what it was they wanted – if they were even talking to her.
“Sorry, what were you saying?”
Mei had a couple of binders in her arms, trying to balance them along with her purse sliding off her right shoulder was challenging, but she was managing, or so she thought. she stopped in the lobby to try to pull her phone out from her back pockets as if she already wasn’t handling a lot; Her eyes shifting to a figure that caught her attention. She noticed the other woman just standing in front of the elevator, the light was one, it had opened but she didn’t go in.which only perked Mei’s curiosity. Mei walked a bit closer to stand a bit behind, she noticed the other’s red eyes and quickly looked away. The woman didn’t really pay attention to her which only led Mei to think she probably was going through some things. She slowly stepped back as if trying to get out of her way; Seeing people cry always made her uncomfortable, she just never knew how to react to it.
Mei jumped a bit at the woman's question, feeling startled all she could do was look away, “I will.. I.. yeah.” She stuttered. When she eyes shifted up she noticed the other was gone, she turned her head only to see her walking off; It almost made Mei feel bad, she’s had bad days, obviously she didn’t know this person’s business but that didn’t mean she couldn’t feel for this person. She was her neighbor.
“Things get better.” She suddenly said out loud towards the other’s directions, “They will... But if you can’t expect it to get better by hiding and walking away from them, ya’know?”

Mei quickly spit out the random drink she had picked up from the coffee table. She paused for a second before side eyeing him, “How dare you spoil my innocent mind with those lines, i didn’t sign up for living like this!”
“Don’t worry. Humans are curious people. I’m not innocent of doing the same thing, so I can’t judge anyone who likes to indulge their curiosity.” He gave the girl a friendly smile. He laughed at her little wink, nodding at her. “I like you. I’m Isaac, I don’t think we’ve had the pleasure.” He said, pushing the mess into the dustpan. “Thank you very much. I don’t think I caught your name, though.”
“Well I guess you couldn’t be more correct.” Mei lifted herself up, giving him a smile once they were face to face, “Wow, it feels good to be liked.” She replied playfully, “I’m Mei, it’s a pleasure!” She said cheerfully, holding her hand out towards him for a handshake. “I haven’t been out and about in a while, i figured it be a good idea now that the weather was alright, ya know?”

“Shit. Did I leave the stove on?”
“Okay guys, I only have twelve bullets, so you’re all going to have to share!”

“Now, I’m about to do to you what Limp Bizkit did to music in the late 90s.”
“That was forever ago.” Kyle stared down at his fingers before chewing on his thumb in thought. “You probably just didn’t play it enough. I don’t think I’ve ever met someone who didn’t like it. And if you play online, you can create your own character. Pretty badass, if you ask me.” His eyes followed her across the room from where he was laying before he sat up, completely hysterical at her words. “Wait, wait, wait—you? Of all people. Of all things. You are the last person I could picture waltzing into a strip joint, virtual or not. Ohh, shittt…” He actually had to wipe at his eyes a bit, trying to swat at the flying fruit and missing entirely, laughing more. “I probably would be. I won’t lie.” Once he composed himself, he picked up the piece of fruit, examining it briefly before popping it into his mouth and talking with his mouth full, “Learning this new revelation, I bet you would have joined.” Kyle teased.
“Don’t you judge me, the strip joints were hilarious in the game,” Mei popped another piece of fruit in her mouth and tilted her head to the side, “Ah, trying to touch the lady without getting caught while she lapped dance your character were some great times.” She replied, almost reminicing that part of the game a little too much. Mei watched him for a bit, making a face as he threw the dirty fruit into his mouth, “Wow, i cannot believe we live together.” She suddenly threw herself back onto the couch with a grunt and stared at the ceiling for a bit, “I could see myself joining though, these last couple of days have been gross. I need winter to come along so i can roll around in my five blankets of coziness.”
Isaac was finally pleased with how he had cleaned up his apartment after the fixes on the window. He was sweeping up the excess dust that the workers had left, opening the door in hopes of getting as much of it as he could. He looked up as he was done, smiling at the person walking past with as much charm as he could. “You know, you’d be doing me a real favor if you came in and held the dustpan instead of just staring. I’d owe you alcohol of your choice.”
She perked her head to the side when she heard a near by apartment door open, “Oh?” Her cheeks flushed once she heard the young man speak to her, “Oh god, did i stare to long?” She asked him with a slight laugh. Heading towards the door, she slightly bent down to position the dustpan in front of the dirt for him before giving him a playful wink, “Alcohol does sound nice.”
“I may have gone a little crazy at the store and bought like five watermelons..” Tenley laughed softly. “ Would anyone like some?”
“You’re just like me! I just haven’t bought any lately, the couple times i did they weren’t as sweet as I would like them to be.” Mei sighed a bit before quickly flashing a smile, “How are yours so far, though?”
Kyle took the tissue offered to him before rolling his eyes, slightly dabbing at his shirt before giving up and using it to blow his nose. “You say that like I haven’t already married it. And it is, dammit! It is a lifetime achievement.” He laughed, moving to throw the tissue away. “If I start something else, I’ll never come back to it. I have a one track mind. You should try it, though. You don’t have to be violent. Well… eh. Kinda. It’s Grand Theft Auto.” Kyle slowly made his way out into the open room and of all places, laid down on the floor. “Don’t judge me. I can feel you side eyeing me. This floor feels so much cooler than anything fabric. You’re lucky I still have my clothes on.” He flashed a smile in her direction, slightly teasing. But it was disgustingly humid.
“I mean..” She paused for a second, thinking a bit, “I’ve played it a couple times a while back, like when it first came out.” She said as she watched him, slowly maneuvering behind him to head towards the kitchen, “I don’t think it was my thing, or maybe i just didn’t play it enough.” She pulled a small container of fruit out and stuffed some in her mouth before heading to sit on the couch, “I liked going to the strip clubs in it, i found it someone funny.” Mei let out a laugh, throwing a cold piece of fruit on his chest, “Gross, i couldn’t imagine how you would have been with the heat wave, you’d probably be naked all the time,”
