so like ... reminder that i personally do hc komaeda as hating talent  (  for a detailed explanation you can read my hc here  )  but that’s relevant because i’m like ... thinking about a mastermind verse and what that would entail.

i do think that in an MM verse komaeda’s goal would be to eradicate talent from the world.  not so much like ... killing everyone who has a talent , as that would be a pointless endeavor  (  kill someone w/ talent , whoever the runner up was will merely become the new talent by default and even if enough people died to break the cycle that’s ... a lot of people and frankly it’s unnecessary  )  but rather like ... dismantling the way society works.  i don’t have all the details of this either but i imagine a sort of ... skeleton , for how he’d go about it would be to 

a . create situations that prove that ppl w/ talent cannot be the sole instruments of hope and in fact may even create despair  /  awful situations instead.  their talents are not foolproof and they are not perfect.  essentially i ... think he’d want to turn people with talent into sort of like ... martyrs , i guess ?  for his beliefs  /  cause and while his goal isn’t killing all of them , i really don’t think he’d have a problem with killing any of them either if it would benefit the situation  (  and if they died on accident i don’t think it would bother him beyond like ... he’d be upset if it caused a setback somehow  )  

b . create situations wherein people without talent are able to prove their worth and turn average people into people with benefit to society and create the idea that even if it’s a group rather than individuals , the world can still be moved forward by the little people.

as for what would like ... prompt this , i do believe that he’d want to work alongside enoshima junko.  she is a perfect example of talent that does bad things and her idea of a despair filled world that is aided by talented people is actually great as a platform to push the idea that talent is the enemy.  i don’t ... know that things would go exactly as they did in terms of how things spiraled out of control in canon but it would be along those lines at least and i do think he plans to dispose of her eventually as part of like ... using her death as a stepping stone that can prove a point.  talent , which aided the world falling apart , conquered by someone without talent.  

it’s also a way for him to prove he is worth something and that he is intelligent and someone worth remembering , more than a talentless  (  he doesn’t consider luck a real talent and while i do hc him as SHSL Solutionist , it’s not something anyone has told him and not what he was scouted for so he and everyone else are unaware of it  )  , cursed child that won’t benefit the world in any way and then will be forgotten the moment he’s gone.  so that desire plays a part as well.

his inhale is sharp.    The query seems half an accusation,  and Akechi’s gaze holds itself on Komaeda for a moment,  flinty and unreadable.   It would be rude to dismiss the question,  he knows   —   would seemingly have no reason to do so,   but it  strikes  an uncomfortable bone in Akechi,   like banging one’s funny bone on a sharp edge.  He shifts,   then looks away,   makes the motion to touch his chin so he can  appear  as though he is considering Komaeda’s query,  when in truth  …  he’d want nothing more than to dismiss it.

How best to answer a question with seemingly no concrete answer,   when the answer is so concrete within him that he has  solidified  it into his  conviction?  

❛  To be honest with you,  I don’t believe there  is  a difference between justice,  and vengeance.  Merely a fine line to be walked.   The punishment must fit the crime,   after all   —   and  justice  has its beginnings in the concept of vengeance,  as well.  The very beginning of civilization in the form of law and order begins with the Code of Hammurabi,  after all.  An eye for an eye,  a tooth for a tooth.  That’s vengeance at its core,  is it not?  Or simply revenge.   The two are not so different as concepts,  in the end.  ❜ 

He gives a nod,   lets his hand fall to the side,   and turns his gaze back onto Komaeda.  ❛   Of course  …  the world has come much farther than cutting off the hand of a man who stole from you,  so we no longer resort to such primitive measures,  but   ——   the idea of  justice  is revenge - borne.   There is no shaking the foundation of a concept  like  justice.  In the end  …  I would not say revenge is  worse  than justice,  or that it can be.  We’ve only grown less  creative  with the ways in which we  punish  criminals for their crime.   ❜

                he almost laughs    (  doesn’t , but considers it  )    ,  lips tugging themselves into satisfied smile  /  what a careful answer , what a rehearsed response  ---  !  he’d expect nothing less from an ACE DETECTIVE , the media’s darling little doll with a fixed smile and opinions given in tidy gift boxes , wrapped up in a neat little bow  ;  he wonders if he means it , that vengeance and justice are one in the same  /  he wonders if that’s something he tells himself as a comfort.  

‘ a comfort for what ? ’   ------   you know there’s a myth somewhere  , about crows , about feathers.

                ❛  vengeance and justice as one in the same ... aha , you really do have an interesting way of looking at things , akechi - san !  but i don’t think that’s wrong , really ... they do have their similarities , don’t they ?  but if that’s the case ... then it must be hard to define the line between them , right ?  even if you say a punishment should fit the crime ... there’s no set way to weigh something like that.  and then you have people who disagree ... put that way , it almost sounds like a guessing game.  ❜    he pauses , fox speaking to grounded crow  /  there were white feathers , then black feathers.      ❛  ... ah , hey ... if that’s really true then ... do you think your justice is vengeance too ?  ❜

                 ‘ too lightly ’ she says , a familiar phrase.  boy who brushes off pain with disconcerting joviality , a disregard for personal well - being and an unorthodox response to the coming of corpses ; there’s much in his life that is taken lightly when , perhaps , it should not be  ---  she’s not wrong on that account and he’ll humor her , even if he does not , cannot , feel the same sense of panic.  a singular laugh falls from the part in his lips , more of an amused huff than anything else as expression shifts to one of embarrassed resignation , tired , confused , though he is appreciative of her concern  ---  unfounded and undeserved as it may be  ---  and he takes a few steps back til back of legs bump against bench seat.  he sits , as requested ; he doesn’t really need this.

                ❛  i really do feel just fine ... but i guess it’s your job to worry about all of us , right ?  ❜      a healer , that’s her talent , her gift  ---  and with it he assumes comes constant fretting over the well being of those around her , worrying for their health ... unable to stop compassion overflowing , empathy without restraint.  sweet of her , but it’s a waste to spend energy on someone worthless , someone disposable.      ❛  well ... i don’t mind sitting here for a few minutes if it’ll make you feel better.  ah but i don’t need anything to eat  ---  i had breakfast already , so i’m not really hungry.  ❜

                he knows he’s more of a nuisance than anything else ,  his presence a bother regardless of what it is he may be bringing with him    (  information , a question , just his vile company and nothing more ...  )    and it would be best to keep to himself , let the others mingle as they please without his intrusions  ---  but he doesn’t do that , considers it , decides against it  /  masochistic boy , taking every jab to the chest willingly with a smile on his face , seeking out what he knows will only be painful interactions for even those are better than to be alone.  so he steps forward , slides up beside their resident gamer with hands in pockets and a softness to his gaze that must seem so out of place to those around him  ---  Q : WHAT IS THE MONSTER WHEN IT SHEATHES ITS CLAWS ?  /  A : PLOTTING , MY DEAR ; PLOTTING  ---  and perhaps it would be better if he prowled about looking the part of the danger they believe him to be but , alas : he does not. 

                 ❛  have you been to the new island yet , nanami - san ?  ❜      their third , a trophy for surviving this long , for condemning their classmates    (  in the name of hope  /  in the name of despair  )    and it’s a little morbid to consider , but , well  ---  ‘ morbid ’  is a good summary of their lives at present time , victory prizes for discarded corpses hardly the worst things to be presented with.      ❛  there wasn’t a lot that interests me over there , truthfully , but i did see a shop full of old electronics.  most of it looked pretty worn down or even broken ... but i’m sure there could be something that might interest you.  ❜

                 ❛  ha , you ... really do look just like nanami - san.  ❜      he isn’t sure what he feels when he looks at her , android girl , circuits and systems  /  dead girl walking in a way that differs from the lot of them    (  gamer style execution for beloved computer program ,  ‘ traitor ’  incorrectly picked ; he wasn’t there for it , she doesn’t remember ,  &  that’s ... something  )    but mostly , he thinks , he feels uncomfortable.  ‘ she’s just like your old friend ! ’  ---  except that she isn’t , can never be , and perhaps he should be grateful that at least one person on this island is unknowing to the horrors he has caused but truthfully ... that feels like a cop out.  

let her think him the monster , the executioner  /  the unholy judas , just as the others do. 

                  but he doesn’t say that , at least not now , merely glances her over with a look that’s hard to place and eventually lips purse , a pained , tight lipped smile given toward present company ; part of him wants to smash her while the other desires camaraderie and in the end he settles on something more neutral.      ❛  but you’re not really her , right ?  even if you look and act the same ... in the end , you're just a copy.  ❜

                 ❛  is this a new project , souda - san ?  ❜      quiet , tired voice from boy absent but a moment ago penetrates the gap of silence between the tinkering of metal and tools and he neglects to move forward , reluctant to do so without mechanic’s permission.  instead he stands near entryway , the smile he adorns something small , fake , more weary than warm  ---  he doesn’t want to be here and assumes souda must feel the same and he half - wonders if he should leave , allow boy to tend to whatever it is he’s working on now and simply bear his own issues by his lonesome rather than troubling one so busy  /  one so undeserving of his pathetic presence.  fingers , flesh  &  blood , curl tighter about metal appendage hidden ‘neath over - long sleeve ; he really is quite the nuisance isn’t he ?

quick lil details abt komaeda’s p5 verse that i’ll get down on a page properly some day :

- originally has a palace.  it is a mausoleum and the shadows are ghosts and skeletons before you remove their masks.  his shadow resides of it as something of a death god figure. 

- kids from his school are the ones posting on the phansite requesting he be taken care of because anyone time he’s around people get horribly hurt and they’re sure he has to be up to something awful  (  he’s not , actually , hes just ... unlucky and his heart is distorted from all his pain  ) 

- komaeda has to be taken into his own palace because his shadow cannot be defeated by normal means.  they need a lucky kid to take down a lucky kid’s shadow and in his palace he has his awakening , much like futaba. 

- his persona is tyche and his weapon is a spear  (  long range is a roulette pistol  ).  his mask covers his nose down instead of his eyes and his attire is something akin to this.  his second awakening later on unlocks judas.

It’s very rare but not unheard of for a student to enter Hope’s Peak, scouted for a talent that may not be what they truly excel at, as proven with Naegi & Enoshima, and given Komaeda was not scouted at all but rather was chosen from a drawing to be his class’ SHSL Luck ( which is not an actual talent, at least not like everyone else has one; the whole point of the drawing is to put one random, potentially talentless kid in their classes and while they may be actively interested in the luck these kids possess, it is not, again, a talent. ) So this being stated, I do not consider his talent to be luck ( I will continue to refer to him as SHSL Luck & he will continue to do such for himself as it is without a doubt what his class ‘ talent ’ has canonly been declared ) but I do think he has a talent —– it just lies in his intelligence rather than his luck. Don’t get me wrong, I think his luck is a huge and integral part of who he is and I’m not discrediting that he has it —– he absolutely does and it’s a fucking roller coaster of a ‘ gift ’ but I think what he can actually do, and what he would have been potentially been able to be scouted for had he not wound up as SHSL Luck, is something else entirely. 

Essentially, I believe Komaeda would have been SHSL Solutionist if he had been scouted for a talent.
