i genuinely don't consider rhaenyra getting her period in that episode to be misogynist or that it shows her to become a hysterical woman because of it. i think it's just an acknowledgement of yet another situation rhaenyra finds herself in where she's trying to hold a traditionally masculine position and feels betrayed by the physical reminder that she wasn't born a man, similarly to the scene in season 1 where she goes into premature labor while all the men in her council are discussing plans for war without her. the reality of being someone who menstruates is that it can happen at inconvenient times when you're trying to do something important!

Everyone has been waiting for Maekar to present as an alpha because to everyone that’s obviously where this is going. Baelor’s confused because obviously Maekar’s going to be his mate, has known it for years, he smells so sweet and just right, that’s his mate. But everyone’s prepared Maekar all ‘oh, you’ll go into rut, blah blah’ so he’s really confused when his tummy is fluttery and achy, he’s aggressive and annoyed but no worse than usual, so definitely not what he’s been told to expect for a first rut. He’s just sore and a bit feverish.

Baelor’s been snapping like a dragon in a cage for weeks because how can no one smell how ripe Maekar is getting??

So of course Maekar goes to his big brother, he always makes him feel better, his scent is so warm and strong and enticing. Does no one else smell that? He’s grumpy and sick and just curls up in Baelor’s bed, every pillow arranged, emptying three quarters of his wardrobe there too for no particular reason. Baelor’s spoiling him, because he’s sick of course, feeding him and rubbing all over his overheated flesh. He barely registers it when Baelor says he’s going to mate him and fuck him full of pups, but it sounds perfect.

No one in the castle even realizes what’s happening because Maekar has been hiding out in Baelor’s room ‘sick’ for two days which isn’t unusual for them.

This all has Baelor’s rut triggered and he and Maekar have been fucking for hours, door barred, before anyone notices Baelor didn’t come to the small council room the next day. Everyone is freaking out, who the fuck slipped into the heir to the Iron Throne’s room and triggered his rut?? This is a political nightmare.

This lasts a fucking week, which obviously Baelor was stocked up for, and everyone has finally realized who is in there whining like a literal bitch in heat. Maekar and Baelor finally emerge, the younger marked, mated, and 100% pupped because of how fertile that first heat is. Twins, obviously.

It’s Daeron’s fault, really, he shouldn’t have told Baelor two alphas can’t marry when Baelor asked years ago.
