The Eras Tour in Warsaw, Poland (August 1-3, 2024)

Okay okay, I really do love the edits of Taylor Swift’s Clara Bow to certain celebrities but it does irk me when the comment section or captions are filled with people saying “No! She didn’t write this song about Olivia she wrote it about Sabrina!”

The thing is, I have no doubt in my mind that Olivia Rodrigo or Sabrina Carpenter or whatever young artist you can name was on Taylor Swift’s mind when writing this song but I really really really doubt the “you look like Taylor Swift” “You’ve got edge she never did” is about one specific person.

This is a song about a very general fear of being replaced. It is not about one person replacing her it is about the concept that all women in the music industry are eventually aged out and replaced with a shinier, newer toy and I think can hurt our comprehension of this song and all of Swift’s music when we look at it through such a narrow lens.
