The enemy sneaks his way into my head during the darkest hour of the night. My vulnerability has been sensed as I find time for shut eye. He masks the sound of his voice in order for me to hear myself whisper into my own ear. “You’re not worthy,” he says. “he doesn’t need or you want you,” he continues. “Walk away, you only form obstacles for people to stumble over. No wonder you’re not loved,” he laughs hysterically!
Doubling in speed, my pulse rises as my blood begins to boil. I become restless and exhausted as the hours drag by. My heart mourns for mercy and I call upon my Lord. I pray to him and ask him to lift up my burdens for I am drained of fighting off the enemy. The enemy is persistent and does not wish to forfeit.
As I force my hands together, I can feel my opponent fight to keep them apart. As I call upon my God, the voice of my rival is unmasked and turned into a blood curdling scream. As I open up my Bible, the demon charges at me with full force and finds that I am no longer within arm’s reach.
I open to Exodus 14:14 for it says, “the Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” At that moment, the brass horns sound; my battles have been conquered. My heart is at peace and my mind has been silenced. Freedom has been bestowed upon me as God and his word work within me.
My eternal gratitude is extended to you, my King.
